In this thread the talk is mostly about the 'edit' during the show. What is cut and snipped, where people are standing when, who does the PI's and why, etc. In the contestant Emily Maynard it's more general - did you like her dress? /hair, she's a good mother, etc.

I'm not ready to say that Jef is the default anything at this point. I just question the editing and the timing of his first date. Nothing feels right to me. It's nice that there are those of you who are sure that Emily falls in love with Jef but how do we really know at this point in the show? It's like we're skipping steps. We know that he's been spoiled as the f1 so therefore it's there even if we're not seeing it just yet. I'm hoping that this upcoming episode will give us all more clarity.

Do I think Emily would select a safe f1 to save face? Yes I do. She doesn't have to get engaged or bring him into Ricki's life in the beginning. Do I think she did it?

because the producers did a poor job of editing as usuall?

as per 24 past season experience, we see the same pattern in the set up, the PI, the BL......

That it ends with a marriage, a lot of jem fans hope so. the others fans will do their best to deny each step of the way

each season are pretty much identical from all seasons before before the cameras, behind and same fans.... the only difference is the choice of contestants.

I also question the timing of his first date and agree that the editing (among other things) has been strange this season. I really think it may come down to the fact that Emily came into this with more of a 'game plan' if you will than the other leads. IF she truly came on to find someone, then she decided to take her time, not make any rush judgements and therefore she didn't know nor did the producers know who her favorite was, making it hard to determine where to place the F1 on a date when they have no idea who F1 is.

As to whether she'd choose anF1 to save face - if this show had happened a couple of seasons back then the answer, for me, would be yes but the majority of the viewers seem to have changed their minds regarding that - they've seen too many fake engagements and so I think they'd be O.K. with Emily choosing nobody. I think Emily knows she'd probably receive flak for choosing someone 'just because' and breaking it off almost right away.

I think Emily or people close to her watch/read the boards and are aware of the public sentiment regarding choosing someone/not choosing someone. And, on this board at least, most seem to hate the idea of a default F1.

I don't see anything amiss with the editing other than our usual complaints.

The date locations are in place before it starts; we know that. The lead is consulted on who she is interested in; we know that. Jef is on the list but tentative at the start because he is holding back. So the men she favors, who are persuing her, are the likely ones to be featured first.

Finally Emily feels that she is ready to step it up with Jef. She said she was like that on Brad's season and recognizes the feeling. She tells production that she wants 1:1 with Jef when she gets it that he is going slowly on purpose and tentative himself. She thought he didnt think she was cool at first!

I do not believe that her 1:1s are decided before they see how things are going. What would be the point?

They massage the plot in the editing room.

if first 1:1 with jef had been in ep 4........... would you all change your mind?

everyone is ready to admit that the producers have the control of everything: edits, type of dates, etc

when they decided to tape in charlotte, everything was prepared: each 1:1, each location, each PI, each cocktail, group dates etc

The producers knew the contestants and they knew who would do what:

ryan: race car....... ricky
sean: faith
ryan: villain ugly..... vs bentley
kalon: villain ugly...... kids drama
doug: father........ ricki

the only uncontrollable factor is the lead falling truly in love but then the producers do not care. They have 8 weeks to tape, they have a story to tell and they have the actors

ali, deanna and many others said that they had to give their top 4 or 5 at the M&G and then they just go with the ride

sooooooooooooo why making such a big deal that jef had his 1:1 in ep 5? emily did not have the control of anything at this point. The producers already had their scripts because each place had their importance in THEIR storyline.

I've been wondering if I see things between Jef and Emily just because I know he's F1 but then I go onto jokers or another unspoiled board, and the majority see it too.

I said it before but to me, they seem to be falling for each other in the most natural way while being in the most un-natural situation and maybe some of the mistakes of previous bachelors/bachelorettes is that they closed off to everyone because they had a great first date early on and in the end, there was somebody better suited for them.

I also think with the exception of a later first date, Jef is getting the typical hidden F1 edit...I believe it's been obvious by many long time viewers that Arie was never going to be last man standing.

My unspoiled coworkers have never even mentioned Jef as one of their favorites and those that have heard spoilers are about as mind boggled as I am.

If anyone's being edited as a dark horse f1 it would be Sean. We've seen them kissing already a couple of times.

We're seeing more from Sean and Arie since Episode 1 and I see Emily having more chemistry with those two but more with Sean than Arie as she's always looking in Sean's direction as well as talking to him on group dates. Jef has a more of a friends vibe with me right now and he has just only now begun to start his rise and I'm wondering if it will help him or hurt him in the long run. jef's edit could always change with me. I'm hoping they show more of him with Emily on Monday night.

I think the major problem is that a lot of people do not believe until the last rose and even then, they will say that it is a fake rose and that won't count.
