The only big changes I can see in Ep 4 was that Arie moved even further up the ladder. Jef was too chicken to kiss her, like Doug, so they both moved way down. As someone who has been a Bach/ette show fan from day 1...they will never convince me now that Jef was F1 from the beginning.
I don't think Em was too concerned whether Doug kissed her or not...but we know from her talk with CH that she wanted Jef to. But I didn't see her commenting on that as Jef moving down her preference ladder because he didn't. She wants him to, but I think she's intrigued and interested in him even more because he hasn't. But that's JMO. And realistically, the speed Jef's moving with the relationship is more true to life. I know on this show they have to at a faster pace...but after what happened with Brad, maybe she's more cautious? And moving at a slower speed herself. He may not have been F1 out of the gate, but became F1 as they continued to get to know each other. Again, JMO.

I respect your opinion but in my book someone does not have to kiss to love somebody and have strong feelings. You can have butterflies in your stomach just thinking about the guys and the waiting period when we know that the other one is attracted the same way and it is only a matter of time, is the best feeling in the world.
Emily said it very very clearly in a PI in last episode................. (someone please transcript her exact words)
I kissed some guys that I had only lust for but some that my heart was beating 100 miles an hour. The best time was the waiting time, when I could not stop thinking about him. Physical is okay but feelings is another IMO

I don't think he was either, but that doesn't mean that he did not become the F1 overtime, and not a default F1, a real F1. I really did not expect Emily to pick her F1 at the beginning anyways and it seems like she didn't!
You can say it til your are blue in the face......default F1 is not going away.
Do what I do....enjoy the story in the moment....if it doesn't work out, it doesn't. My life goes on. I am enjoying the story!
yeah girl! I am with you on this!!!

Re: The Bachelorette 8 - Emily Maynard - Edit Thread - Discussion
I actually believe Emily went into this to try to find someone who would fit into her life with Ricki. I think, from what we've seen of Ricki, she's been well brought up and Emily seems to enjoy spending time with her. It seems as though it was her mother who came to spend time with Ricki in Charlotte during the episodes filmed there which would seem to imply that there's not a full-time nanny. Saying that I don't think Emily would want to be an 'actress' or anything else that would take too much time away from her family life. She stated 'I'm not good at a lot of things but I know I'm a good mother".
This is all going to my thinking she would not choose a default F1 because then, at some point, she'd be including Ricki in the 'lie'. I think she will choose and F1 she hopes to find a future with or she will choose nobody. I'm hoping there's no def. engagement at the end but rather a promise to continue and perhaps let people know ATFR or shortly thereafter.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

JBF- quick question. Do you think the purpose of this episode is to establish Sean's place among the final 3....while Jef's episode to "shine" will be episode 7. All of the hometown dates will appear to go well....leaving Emily torn among her final 3?
I was initially a bit confused as to WHY they didn't highlight Jef and Emily this week....since they FINALLY have their first kiss.
Good question. We will just have to see...
It appears that somebody is acting as Jef's "smokescreen" each episode.
In the last one, Doug made a fuss about not kissing Emily. So... Jef was not the only one who didn't. Ryan disapproved of Emily kissing Arie the previous week. Doug, in turn, told Ryan that kissing is a young guy's "thang" and not the most important part of a relationship.
Same episode: Chris took offense to Doug accusing him for being too young. Chris is the same age (roughly) as Nate, who was dumped on his 2 on 1 date NOT because he was too young, but because Emily felt he hadn't enough life experience. (Charlie said in his exit interview tha Nate was more "wet behind the ears" than Chris.) I'm guessing all of these scenarios relate to the 27-year old Jef, who might have more experience than casual viewers may think despite his youthful appearance.
I think Sean was already established by his line "I can step into any role and be the greatest father in the world." Guess that makes him Emily's "back-up" in case Jef doesn't succeed. In the promo, he "restores her faith". He told her friends that his family is founded on faith, but there may be multiple meanings here... not all necessarily religious.
Her friends, in turn, thought he was hot and forced him to take his shirt off.
Unfortunately, Brent left in episode #1 despite having six kids, as did the fitness trainer who ripped off his shirt (like Sean). Therefore, being a great dad and looking "hot" may not be as important to Emily as casual viewers would think.
Whether this means anything or not... in episode #5 coming up, both Sean and Ryan are quite public in their declarations of L-U-V. One performs in a play, but the other is pretty vocal in front of a crowd. I seriously doubt Jef will be as public.

the promo makes it look like she is saying that to Sean only but she is probably saying that to the whole group before handing out roses. We will see soon enuff.

Just for the record, I dont think anyone is real life or living in reality tv land would pick a default life partner consciously so debating this is just silly imo. There is no way to ever really know. No one ever wants to think that they've settled. I'm not implying Emily did, but if she did she sure as hell wouldn't admit it to herself or the media

Don't have the exact quote, but Emily said something to the effect that anticipation was good and she could wait a bit longer for a kiss with Jef.
