I have looked at sc and at previews with the [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]scene. I do not think it is Kalon that most think. Sitting on the green couch at the end is John "wolf", then Ryan in the middle. Em sits next to Ryan. Kalon walks behind the couch. Em is looking past Ryan, but not up to someone behind the couch when she says [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]. So my thought is that it ends up being John "wolf". Keep in mind he gets the 2 on 1 date rose. So this could be the episode where the rose is taken back. JMO

Doesn't John have a 1-1 in episode 7 (Prague)?Iluvbachette wrote:I have looked at sc and at previews with the [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]scene. It's either a 1-1 or part of the group date some people thought maybe, but yeah he definately makes it that far.

Thanks worseseason, that's what I thought. Jef seems to be one of the few real guys on this show, same as JP was last season & JP thought he'd be sent home night 1. I can't wait to see more of Jef, and especially, Jef with Emily. it's going to be fun & romantic.worseseason wrote:eightfifteen wrote:I think you're right on with this. I remember when RS tweeted that one of the guys left, one of Jef's friends guessed it was him. He would've booked it if he wasn't interested in Emily.sgjsnow wrote:Good points as usual. I am thinking that he may actually like Emily at least a little cause he sure seem uncomfortable and wouldn't be surprised if he was looking for a way to get out of there. He may not have a deer in the headlights looks but he definitely has a "you've got to be kidding me" look most of the time. To watch the looks on his face is actually been pretty entertaining for me.
Jef would never have stayed if he wasn't interested in Emily. He was not used to having camera's in his face and was pretty shocked at the behavior of some of the guys.

Especially the quote from Jef about what they share means something to her.
Oooh... gotta get that one checked.
I've been away and haven't had a chance to rewatch the show again, checkin' the details.
That rose ceremony had me in stitches though, with all of her top dumpees (and future hometownees... Chris, Sean & Arie) sporting roses and standing next to her little man Jef.
I did find Ryan's comments about Arie not being macho (by HIS standards) and kissing Emily interesting. He probably was pushed to say that... or was following a script. Yet, they are building up to some sort of "gotcha" when she picks Jef over Sean, who went shirtless for her buddies. Great "breeding".
This, in a way, continues the storyline of Bentley, stating that Ashley was like an ugly duckling compared to Emily. Beauty is only skin deep and Emily is making a big hoopty doo that first impressions are not always just physical first impressions.

AND... there is nothing wrong with the way Jef looks, apart from not being the "type" many would think Emily would choose.
Bumping up this old post since I can only imagine the scratched-head reactions initially...
So... what was it that Ryan said about Arie kissing Emily? Somebody needs to get that quote.

Oh Bloomers, you have a cute way with words...
Oh well, they sure are hitting us over the head with that storyline.
@Fleissmeister, March 26
@Millsy11374 just told me this is the hunkiest bunch of guys in the show's history!!!
As described in Entertainment Weekly among Chris Harrison's "ones to watch"...
Kalon McMahon: He makes a huge first impression, but the big story is, will it fade quickly? (Don't ask me what that "freudianism" means!)
Jef Holm: He’s not your typical 6’4” ripped bachelor. He’s an average-looking guy who will stun Emily with his personality and charm.
Doug Clerget: Muscles on top of muscles. He’s someone America will fall in love with.
Arie Luyendyk Jr.: It’s not like after Ricky died she never went to the track. The racing world is still a big part of her life.
Alesandro Goulart: He’s this Latin heartthrob who very easily works his charms on Emily
Ryan Bowers: Bowers is an ex-football player who owns a gym.

I wonder if we will see this conversation coming up in episode 3. That will be a telling point IMO particularly since Em is so gung ho about finding a father-figure for Ricky.
nd4reality, did you think this convo happened for Sean and Arie on episode 3?
I can't remember if Em discussed this with Chris.

I haven't seen Bloomers on here much - does she still post? I always loved her say on the edits - she remembers so much from seasons past and has great insight. Anyone know if she's still on this forum?
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Emily and Arie are kissing..
Ryan: "I was shocked to found her and Arie kissing. You know. Have I ever seen myself competing against( now I am not sure is he says guy or something else) like Arie.No. I mean it bothered me."

Re: The Bachelorette 8 - Emily Maynard - Edit Thread - Discussion
A more important line with Ryan is this one, since its sums up an important theme of the season. At the end of the rose ceremony he drums up that kiss he saw with this follow-up...
"Arie and I are very different. He is more of a dainty man and I am more of a physical guy. I think this is definitely a cat and mouse game, but I know how to compete. So Arie’s in trouble."
There were a lot of little blink-and-you-miss tidbits that were important.
Friends to Jef: “You need to show you’re into her” Obviously, fate is in his hands. Curiously, the line faith is mentioned over shots of him. Also, when Emily says she has a couple of crushes, the word “crushes” is spoken over Jef only… implying he may be the only actual one she is feeling a crush for.
Kalon sported his glasses to look "tall, skinny and funny", but to Emily he wound up "tall, skinny and condescending". Kalon's personality is typical Alpha Male, but he wants to appear the opposite just to woo her... the guys are suspecting that great abs don't always work with Brad's ex.
Ryan's commentary about Arie is very important because he is another Alpha Male. He must not know about the race car business at this stage, although he surprised us last week knowing all about Charlie's head injury and impressing the other guys (who see Charlie as a hulky dude) with this season's theme... *drink*... that you can't go by physical appearances. (How many interviews with Emily have brought that up?)
Poor Sean. The friend’s line that “Sean is like a genetic gift to the world” is one based on physical impression… and we know Emily is not destined to choose the “perfect like Brad” guy. Sean may not be “perfect”, but the general viewer will see him that way.
Both Arie and Sean got scenes back-to-back providing two goals of Emily... finding one who will show her affection (Arie) and be there to support her daughter (Sean). Both also got their kissing scenes close together. Intriguingly, this is a good parallel to a 2009 edition of the Bachelorette. Reid and Kiptyn, who represented "stuff" Jillian was looking for in 2009 (and whether she found it in Ed is a subject everybody argues) also got back to back kissing scenes before the third ceremony. Kiptyn was the "hot" one and Reid the caring one... she was banking on Ed being both.
