Not only is Ben WITH the other guys while JP is assertive ( not overbearing but assertive, mind you) enough to get his 1-1 time with her, but Ben is seen making or joining in the snarky remarks about other guys. (Thank for that reminder, Blondie) Add to that what you are saying, that we do see the camera flick on his face, but we also have seen him with someone else standing in the doorway looking in on, I believe, William and Ashley. What's the subtle message from the edit, here? To me, it is that Ben is with the guys, about the guys, and while JP is in the room with the guys, JP is about Ashley.

Yuuuuup! You can also add the bio information on the alphabet board, suggesting that Ben operates best in a group situation (i.e. his Germany trip), while JP is more of a loner. Also Ashley has already addressed his problem with patience in one casual conversation. He mentions this "fault" in his bio.

I did see JP sitting with "troublemaker" Ryan only once briefly, but Ben is with him quite a bit. Also in the preview photos for Monday, Ben is saying goodbye to Bentley and JP is maintaining some distance. I realize half of those on this forum looking at that photo were only noticing JP shirtless in boxers, but I noticed he has made very few appearances in the same frame with Bentley. This could just be an editing trick and both of the final two spent equal time with the "villain" and the "instigator" (shown mocking Jeff to his face in the post-show outtake... by the pool), but past seasons do show a tendency to keep the final 1 away from some of the drama. (That wasn't easy to do with Ed, since he was calling out to Wes from the window... or Vienna obviously.)

At this stage, William is a "good" character who will make a big mistake on Monday's show, so there are plenty of shots with him and JP. Interestingly, William's scenes instigate JP's story... or help hide it from the other guys... if not the viewers. JP told William he would be assertive getting to know Ashley. William talked to him after his time and repeated some of JP's moves... but got the other guys (namely Nick) angry. It is obvious, Will is one of JP's "smokescreens"... with the guys focused on his bragging and cutting in, they don't notice anything unusual going on between JP and Ashley.

what do you mean by saying troublemaker Ryan.........I don't think there is anything with Ryan that would make him the troublemaker??

I blame CH for pointing out that Ryan P. does not get along with the guys and rubs them the wrong way. Unless, I see evidence of this I won't believe it. He seems sweet so far. Maybe CH got Ryan and William mixed up. The guys seem annoyed with him after he bragged about he and Ashley's date.

Plus, why would CH say those things about Ryan P if there was a chance he might be the next Bachelor.

Like I said before, I think that there may of been a misprint with that and we wouldn't of known unless we looked on the back page of that edition or of an edition or two afterwards. I really have doubts that Ryan is the troublemaker..........

I find this curious, too -- since we haven't seen anything that shows it, have we? William, yes, but Ryan P? Color me confused. :shock:

It probably won't matter in the long run anyway since the average viewer only remembers what happened last week... not what happened at the start of a season. Everybody thought "Fabio" on Survivor was a goof-ball who didn't deserve to win, but after his crying towards the end... wooing the jury.... All Of America Was Ready For Him To Be The Winner.

If Ryan is being edited as "troublemaker" , as of episode 2 so far I have not yet seen this. Ryan has barely had any screen time other than the amazing entrance (no props nothing except a floored Ashley), a great conversation and the first impression rose. Episode 2........nada. Not barely 1 PI which is what most of the others got anyway. There were 2 comments shown regarding the drunk guy and the masked guy but they were about the so called weirdos this season and not about the key players in the whole drama. They have shown him in some scenes but off to the side, no shades of competition or talking about others nothing.

So as of now there is no evidence of this label as yet. It is early days yet but don't they normally start to show stuff of where the storyline is heading ? I think by Episode 2, though Chantal got just a little screen time with Brad, she got plenty of a "troublemaker" edit already. The stage was already set in episode2 and it just got worse from there on. she was shown commenting on the melissa drama in PIs and with Ali/Rob and not much more regarding Brad. Thats why I knew that no way was she the F1 nor was she seriously being edited for the next lead. Ashleys edit was different. She was shown to be insecure regarding Brad but getting along great with the other girls in the house. Huge difference.
So back to Ryan, his edit is going to have to nosedive pretty quickly to earn the label. In which case, they will not be editing him as the next bachelor per se. They will be leaving that upto chance at the end.

IMO this season again, the spoilers aren't quite matching up the edit, not yet. Episode 3 and 4 should be really interesting either way ...can't wait.

JBF we too are trying to figure out this edit and as you can see for me right now its not yet matching up. We'll see . But its important for us to keep in mind the general trend of the players as that has a huge impact on the outcome.

Need set straight here: Did Chris Harrison say something questionable about America's Sweetheart Ryan P? Have been searching through his articles and have found nothing yet...

I do believe there IS something up with Ryan. We just don't know what it is yet. As usual, all of us are looking for "signs". I have picked up a Frank "vibe" here starting with all of the "being first" stuff... and his passionate arm stretch at the start of the show, echoing Frank. Also his ragging on Tim and Jeff, more so than the other guys, is strategically edited for effect... like Frank's comments about Ali being with others like Roberto and being "forced to watch". Remember how All Of America was in love with Frank during week #2?

Just guessing that some of the things we are seeing with Ryan are going to have SOME effect on his relationship with Ashley later and potentially be a reason he is denied as much attention from her in upcoming episodes. By that, I mean, his being "part of the boys" and a bit of a ring leader.

In addition we need theories as to why he comes to Fiji. Considering the first impression rose, I find it surprising that she dumps him in Taiwan. SOMETHING happens here, because he is too far ahead of the pack right now. Does another guy... like Mickey (just a wild guess, since she told him specifically about being concerned how others view her, Mickey being like Ali's Kirk... Ashley's "shrink" guy)... suggest something about Ryan that leads to her dramatic decision? Of course Ryan may be all-gaga over Ashley in reality and has to prove it with his come-back in Fiji. As he said, nothing is more powerful than the sun than love...

There is plenty of "story" going on here, but they are unfolding it gradually. I do have a theory that Ryan was initially being set-up as a potential Final 2 dumpee, like Frank. Maybe Bentley was too, only he became too much to handle.

Thanks so much, san. Those are pretty strong words he uses with Ryan. Of course, we can "assume" the wrong bachelor was given that description... but the season is far from over. Given that "cast mates" are involved, Men Tell All will be quite a shoutfest this season.

Looks like they are still working out the details on Ben's contract for October filming. Chris H. was all gaga over Chris L. in his blogs. They have the "I'm guarded" story already rolling to get viewers primed... and that future date set up like Reid's in Spain...

I don't know if ever there has been a F1 that has been in the "ones to watch".. usually it's the kiss of death, and it's the F2.

Shayne was, but she was the only one. It's usually almost always the F2 who is in the 5 to watch I think. :Nod:
