I kind of think they wanted a proposal, and Bubba was prepared to give them one...Jeremiah was not.

I am so happy with the way it ended, and wish them nothing but the best!

I suspect that might have been part of the reason, but I also wonder if Paige just felt they were pushing her towards Bubba more because she apparently fell so quickly for Jeremiah that the producers were desperately looking for somebody else who might also interest her (to make it a horse race), and Bubba was the most likely prospect. Her resistance to fully "succumb" to Bubba's charms probably help to crystallize the edit, with Bubba being the hero and Jeremiah the villain.

Personally, I can't understand how any guy on these shows, unless they have been told in confidence (ie, off camera and "against the rules") by their lady, the way JP was, that they were definitely "the one", goes so far as to propose marriage. But it seems the ones who are most apt to be convinced to do it are always the ones who are somewhat deluded about the lead's real feelings for them as well.

Do we know when filming starts? Sorry if this has already been covered.....I am on my phone and can't navigate thru these pages well....

I got to disagree about the part the producers wanting Jeremiah to be the lead. JMO. Could you imagine the uproar? lol.

"He's not from Alabama", "He's not even Southern" etc. since this is a CMT show with mostly Southern (states) demographic. Plus I don't think he would do it and he's uncomfortable with the cameras (The producers probably won't get enough material to work with).

I agree Dee. And a source told me that Glassman HATED Jeremiah from the beginning. And also that Bubba was definitely forced down Paige's throat.....

Just got to shake my head every time knowing they (producers) would rather her pick the fan favorite, than someone she fell in love with. Glad she stood her ground.

To be honest, even though this was my favorite SHA season, TPTB of SHA are just as bad if not worse than the Bachelor series. JMO.

And Glassman obviously gave Bubba special treatment at least on 2 occasions at the end -- ring shopping the day after his date/day before the finale that they showed us and proposing to Paige on the beach at sunset at her house the day of the finale that they only showed in previews!! I wonder what the heck Jeremiah was doing while they were carting Bubba around?

So thanks, avacaroline, for letting us know that Larissa the new producer/editor may not be as bad as I originally thought, that she was answering to her boss who discriminated against Jeremiah on more than one occasion! What a disgusting and evil business reality TV has become.

You're welcome Lav. I don't think Larissa Matsson is a saint by any means but I do see her as sort of a puppet for Glassman.

I don't know much about the proposal yet, but just from screencaps and rewatching the finale (with my editing goggles on), I think Bubba proposed the night of his LCD. Aren't the clothes the same? And if you look at the final scene of them saying goodnight that evening, Paige is almost apologetic when they embrace and depart. I don't know about this and it's just my speculation at this point.....what do you think?

I think the producers were telling Paige the whole time, that Bubba was the kind of guy she said she wanted before the season. She at the start of the season was a bit shell shocked still from the Sprint Cup dismissal and wanted something good and stable. But like her mom has said she has a gypsy spirit and in that way in particular she and Jeremiah match.

Bubba is great and I think the producers really pushed her, the statement she said during their LCD of I know you are what is best for me really sounded like she was repeating what she had been told and for those of us who experienced Meredith as the Bachelorette was shades of her and Matthew. She really liked Matthew as a person, but she was in love with Ian and nothing was going to change that. Even today with them having broken up so long ago and her heart breaking, Meredith still says she did the right thing on the Bachelorette.

Sometimes you have to follow your heart. In this case I think that Jeremiah does want the forever too, so I have high hopes that they will be forever.

As for Bubba, I think he would be a great lead, but with the new pics in his thread, he may have a girlfriend already. If so bring on Shaun Bigos, that would be a lot of fun. He may only find a good girl to date, but he would be a blast to watch.

I think Bubba would be AWESOME as the new SHA bachelor. The pick of Cody, Tristen and all the other cast I'm sure everybody now knows is the new show Southern Nights.

Bubba is really good friends with Cody Harris. Bubba posted on his Faith Cattle Company web page that he has been contacted by a New York publishing company to write a book, The Cowboy Code, How to Treat a Lady.

His weight loss may be a combination of things, hard work on the farm, a break up (Paige), and getting in better shape.

I remember Gina posting some pictures of Bubba post show. And we basically just commented that he looks more toned, tanned, and a bit of weight loss. We thought it may or may not be because of the upcoming season of SHA.

If that's his new gf in those pictures, then I am so happy for Bubba. It's nice to see the contestants moving past the show and living their regular lives. :Smiley:

Yes dee, if that is his girlfriend, they look great together and I'm happy for him! :Clap:
