Seniors Looking For Love - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
'The Bachelor' Producers Are Casting Seniors For A New Show & It Sounds So Cute
Do you know anyone who's looking for love? Okay, great. Are they over 65? Even better. The Bachelor has made a huge name for itself finding love for contestants in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, but now the franchise appears to be stepping into a whole new category. The Bachelor producers are casting seniors for a new dating show, focused on helping those in their golden years find love, and honestly, it sounds like such a cute spinoff idea.

No need for the drama in my peaceful life.

Heck no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what, if it's taken you till age 65 to be ready for a relationship, might as well just continue hooking up with the hotties at your local Seniors Club and get a dog for companionship IMO.

Agreed. I feel things are going badly post-Elan. I don't know if it was just him personally keeping things in check, but it's hard not to notice a correlation imo. I don't know how powerful he was bts.

Any chance that the original series is in jeopardy of nonrenewal due to the BTS turmoil of the past year or so? Would they maybe transition Ben Higgins in as host of The Bachelor or one of these other shows now that Chris has numerous hosting gigs? Ben always seemed like he wanted Chris' job, and Chris in turn mentored him, imo.
I would love to watch Seniors fall in love. Maybe it will be totally different from the 20-somethings version and really refreshing sans drama.

Already Bachelor and Bachelorette alums have responded to the post by Lindsay. Daniel Maguire said he thinks it would be a good show and he should sign his mom up. Becca Kufrin said, “Yesss! @jkufy you in?” Katie Morton also chimed in saying, “ok so this is cute. please tell me there will be a lead that is a 70 yr old woman like Frankie from grace and Frankie and she is going to sift through a bunch of kind older men. plz linds.” Evan Bass even went to Twitter to share the flyer with all of his followers. The comments continue on with past contestants voicing their love for this new Bachelor show

But all it is going to take is one dapper gentleman with manners of gold to make America swoon. Add some hair and the ability to drive at night and everyone will be watching! LOL

And, honestly, I think any contestants they do find for this show will be just as thirsty as the younger ones on the other shows because they are out there. TPTB IMO will not be kind to them either.
No swooning for me.

Norcalgal wrote:@GuardianAngel Thanks for bringing over all the comments on this show. I think 55+ is a better starting point than 65. Many between 55-65 might already have tried online dating with limited success. Somehow I think 65+ isn't as likely to use those dating apps.

IA I know how difficult it is for people in that age bracket to find someone to share life with. A good friend of mine divorced for years loves to travel, loves to go to dinner, show's whatever and has no one to do that with. She was in Arizona for a month then Palm Springs, and now in St Petersburgh Florida. It's lonely for them and sad. She's very outgoing and meets new people quite easily but it's not the same. I thought about telling her about this show.

Well, here's some fun news to start your morning -- I've learned ABC is still very hot on #TheBachelor senior citizens spinoff. In fact, before #covid19, the network was eying a fall debut for this year (!!) but plans were put on hold with the pandemic. https://t.co/jVncAmoC1c

Re: Seniors Looking For Love - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
“Some of the casting interviews we got, they were just so touching,” says Rob Mills, ABC’s top unscripted executive, in an interview with Variety. “It’s such a different way of doing ‘The Bachelor’ because these people are just at a totally different place in their lives. There is an interesting thing about people who have hit the other end of the spectrum, who’ve lived their lives, they’ve raised their kids, some have been widowed or divorced and maybe some have never been in love. We thought that would be an interesting dynamic through the ‘Bachelor’ prism.”
Mills notes that one of the big changes with the show would be that hometown dates consist of meeting the children, rather than the parents. “It’s everything you love about ‘The Bachelor,’ but everybody loves senior citizens because they have different love stories to talk about,” Mills says. “It was really fascinating, so I have no doubt it will happen some day.”
