Why is it sooo hard to believe that Em could have actually fallen for this guy .. Instead of for the tall dark muscular beefcake

I don't think he's playboy... I kinda thought that was a joke.

But I am having trouble wrapping my head around this pairing and it doesn't have anything to do with his looks or his skateboard. For as many seasons as I can remember you could never be F1 if you had a date epi 4 or later. It meant the lead had really no interest in you. With Jef this is going to be one slow love story. I'm going to have to look forward to SQT on GD's each week for a month before I even get a see a good 1 on 1 with the F1. The other time this happened the real F1 left and the lead picked the goofball. I doubt that Jef is anything like Jesse but the cynical part of me that has been watching this show for forever can't help but wonder if a guy who didn't even register on Emily radar until a month into filming can really come away with this... and by a landslide at that.

I'm just skeptical.

ETA: I would feel better about it if he had the Dollywood or Greenbrier date.

Great post! I agree with all you said. If Jef is not a 'default' choice....the real Emily behind all the polish, glitz and glamour is really a young, both literally and at heart, girl with a yearning to be a nerd and cool! I think that's great but definitely not what her personna projects. Can't wait to see what happens with Ryan...could he have been her 1st choice? Jef is quite unique...if he's her style, but very different from the others...and true, why didn't he get an earlier date? Hmmmmmmmm

I totally agree with all this. (FYI I always love your posts). I never would have seen these 2 together without the spoilers. Also, having both F2 with an episode 5 date just seems weird based on the history of the show and just from a logical story telling perspective.

As I've been saying in other threads, ditto to everything you just said. I couldn't even wrap my head around him as Emily's F1 before we knew he had his first 1-1 in ep 5. Jef may very well be F1, hopefully for Love Me's sake he is, but unfortunately because of my past experiences with this show I will be very skeptical of a great love connection due to his ep 5 1-1... no matter how they edit it to appear. Someone on this site likes to always state "occam's razor" (can't remember who), but I think it aptly applies in this situation too. With all our experience with this show & all the shenanigan's going on behind the scenes that we know occurs, what is the simplest explanation for this season?

Until its all said and done, I'm skeptical of everything this season. And I have no favorites. But watching this latest preview, if it were any other season, I would so no way is Jef F1 given how much he is shown, and especially the VO's on his shots, it screams too "obvious" to me. I agree that it is odd that her F2 guys didn't get a date until Ep 5, maybe they changed the format this season, but for both of them??? Maybe they are showing Jef more in the preview because of his late date?

Sean is shown the least but we have one hot and heavy SC of them kissing. Actually there are a lot of "passionate" kisses with all of her F3, and that seems odd to me as well. If I were an unspoiled viewer and I saw that preview, I would say, yep, those are her F3 guys, no need to watch. Maybe I'm giving the producers too much credit, but it's so obvious it's making me skeptical.

I agree with the last page of this thread. Love may be correct, but how did Jef end up as the F1? That's my curiosity.

Again, I respect if Em and Jef fell hard for each other. I need to watch their interactions to find out.

Well, for one thing, most of the leads pick someone with an early date and don't end up working out in the real world. So perhaps with Em staying open to all the guys is what helped her realize who was thr best fit for her. Let's face it, most of the guys who get the first couple of dates only get those dates based off the physical attraction they have towards them on night one. Em's friends said that her physical type was more like Sean, so Jef doesn't fit that. That makes me understand a little more as to why he didn't get an early date. She was more attracted to the other guys.
I said in another thread that I think London is what changed it all. After that, he got the most private (and most romantic, in my eyes) date in Prague and, if we have all the dates correct, he was only 1 of 3 who ended up getting a second date. Factoring in his family's comments & confidence about the two, I think she knew it was Jef going into hometowns.
