I think I read somewhere that a soccer field was closed off and they were filming on it but I assumed it was just to have an open space, didn't even think about an actual game. It was the day of the dinner/dancing date, I think.

You're right. Friday somebody tweeted that her little cousin's soccer practice because they were using the field for the Bachelorette. It was around noon I think when it was tweeted.

The Emily stuff isn't really anything new. The story just claims she's greedy, that she's after the paycheck ($250k in her case, so the story claims), that the Hendricks are mortified she's doing this, and she isn't protecting her kid from the cameras because part of her 1 on 1 with Ryan Bowers was going to see Ricki's soccer game. The story also says she was already picking out her Neil Lane engagement ring a month before filming started. [My comment: probably giving him an idea of what she likes, right?]
However, there is a semi blurry candid photo in the story of 10 Bach guys in the story (including a couple guys whose only visible part is a back or an arm). The caption says the guys hit the town (I think without Emily?). Nobody's identified by name. There's one guy who has his hair in a short high ponytail (hair is probably around chin length) - kind of hippie/surfer style but in a neat way, not unkempt. There's also a couple of pics from Emily's date with Ryan.
An anonymous insider is cited as the source for saying the guys to watch include the "gorgeous" Georgian Ryan Bowers and "bad boy" Jef Holm. No other names are mentioned.
I wonder if the bold is true. There was a tweet about filming on a soccer field that day. You would think others would have seen them tho and tweeted about it.
I think it falls in line with the theme Emily wanted to portray this season and get across to her potential suitors, which is that she's a mom first. She'll be dating but, also fulfilling her duties as a mom going to her daughter's games and stuff. If you want to date her or be married to her you've got to know there will be time for us a lone but also time she has to spend with her daughter and her activities and the effect that will have on any potential relationship she has. This is the life style she lives and if any of the guys aren't up for the mom with kid events versus just the dating single girl, they can find that out right now early before any proposal or deepening feelings once they leave NC. Ryan's interaction with Ricki and identifying Ryan's place in Emily's life to Ricki was probably limited. Stronger input and interaction with Ricki probably won''t happen to 'til the F2, when Emily will be making her choice and ricki' s interaction them will influence some of her decision or confirmation of it.

Living it up with "The Bachelorette"
Read more here: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/03/21/3115495/living-it-up-with-the-bachelorette.html#storylink=cpyI certainly had a weekend filled events related to "The Bachelorette" filming, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. I am a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, and Emily Maynard is such a sweetheart that Carolina Bride is thrilled to have this lovely lady repping the Queen City!
On Friday night, I joined other reality TV and country fans for the Gloriana concert, a one-on-one date for Emily and her unnamed suitor.
The two pulled up in a gorgeous car (he drove, what a gentleman!) and went to Osso for a lengthy dinner as we anxiously awaited the surprise concert. There was some rain involved, but no one in the crowd let that quell the excitement. When they came back out to the courtyard are at NC Music Factory, Emily introduced her date to her favorite band, and they serenaded the couple’s first dance together. Emily’s suitor toasted the lady of the hour: "to the most beautiful woman in Charlotte,” and they enjoyed a glass of champagne (what would a Bachelorette date be without champagne?) before departing.
This chica must be tired! The next day the men and the bachelorette were up rehearsing for their 4 o’clock fundraiser performance at Booth Playhouse. I can't reveal too much, but there were Muppets involved (the real ones!), lots of hunks and a healthy dose of laughter and sing-alongs. And as you’ve probably read, Emily and one of her gents are scaling the skyline this week.
What will I take from the weekend? We already knew Emily was sweet and – of course – gorgeous. But even with a powerful spotlight on her, this future Carolina bride shows an amazing amount of grace and poise. When the crowds shout, “Good luck, Emily!" and “We love you,” she actually says thank you. With her daughter’s best interest at heart, she's brought this crazy roller coaster to her town and is allowing it to benefit the local economy and charities that are dear to her heart. The fact that she’s sharing this experience with all of us really speaks to her generosity and spirit.
You may see me in an episode in this season, cheering her on like the total fan that I am. Carolina Bride wishes her all the luck in the world -- we hope she finds the man of her dreams!
And just for fun, above is a highlight from the weekend. We love you too, Chris Harrison!

I seriously doubt the $250,000 paycheck, plus the stars are paid out in thirds ~ 1/3 pre-filming, 1/3 post-filming and 1/3 after the show airs.
As with so many things, there is the story told, and there is the story itself.

We'll never truly know how much these people make. I keep seeing all of these figures for this show and DWTS and while the checks may be bigger than the average bear makes, I'm sick of all of this speculation. Only THEY know how much they get.

nikkij_26 wrote:Charlotte’s ‘Bachelorette’ goes on high-flying dateCHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte’s Emily Maynard took “The Bachelorette” to new heights Tuesday night, scaling the side of the Mint Museum Uptown on a date with a suitor before enjoying a private concert from a country music star.
The ABC reality TV show has been filming across the Queen City as Maynard, a 26-year-old single mom, looks for love among a batch of men vying for her affection.
Maynard and her date, an unidentified tall man with dark hair, arrived around 9 p.m. at the museum on South Tryon Street. They held hands and chatted as they strolled toward the museum – with cameras closely following. Click here for photos from the Charlotte Observer
Police blocked Levine Avenue of the Arts as crews filmed the date, which attracted the attention of passersby and those dining at chef Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant E2, located next door.
Maynard – wearing a white tank top, black leggings and brown boots – and her date were strapped into harnesses and given helmets with small cameras attached.
Maynard could be heard saying that she was “so excited” before they began their ascent.
About halfway up the five-story building, the pair gave each other a high five. Her date waved to those below, prompting cheers.
“Give him a rose,” said one, referring to the show’s rose ceremony where contestants learn whether they’ll continue on the dating show.
It took them about 10 minutes to reach the top. Onlookers clapped as they climbed over the roof’s edge.
Once the pair reached the top, they enjoyed a private rooftop dinner catered by new uptown restaurant E2 owned by renowned chef Emeril Lagasse.
After dinner, the two enjoyed a private concert at the intersection of Trade and Tryon streets courtesy of country music star Luke Bryan. Click here for photos from the Charlotte Observer Click here to watch the air dancing in uptown Charlotte
One witness to the concert said Maynard and her date arrived for the concert around 12:15 a.m. after a slight rain delay and several sound checks by Bryan.
“They dropped them off at the intersection of 3rd and Tryon,” said Ileana Kistler, who found out about the event through Twitter.
Kistler said Bryan played two songs repeatedly for the next hour so production crews could get the right shots of the couple dancing. Bryan rotated between two hits "Drunk on You" and "Do I," Kistler said.
Maynard won “The Bachelor” last year when Brad Womack proposed to her, but the couple split in June. In January, she was named the new “Bachelorette.”
The show is filming the forthcoming season in a six-bedroom, 8.5-bath European-style mansion in Charlotte rather than its usual California location because Maynard didn’t want to uproot her 6-year-old daughter for the filming, according to reports.
After the filming wrapped up around 1:30 early Wednesday morning, the crowd of about 100 dispersed for the night, but production assistants said post-date filming would continue until about 6 a.m.
“It was neat because you had a lot of college kids, a lot of professionals that had heard all the commotion. It was really loud,” Kistler added. “It was just a really good variety of people (at the concert).”
Last week, Maynard and a date had dinner at the new Osso Restaurant & Lounge and then watched a concert by country-music band Gloriana at the N.C. Music Factory. Click here for photos of Emily and her date as they arrive at Osso
Maynard was once engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, the son of businessman and team owner Rick Hendrick who died in a 2004 plane crash while she was pregnant with their child. “The Bachelorette” will premiere on May 14.

One of the ways that producers manipulate the contestants to do what they want for the show ~
"Each season a small group of the contestants call me for advice after shortly getting off the show. This season was no different. In fact, almost every girl that called me for advice told me that production is hinting to them that they are going to make her the next Bachelorette."
