Emily Maynard’s First Night Filming Bachelorette Season 8: “Mega Handsome” Guys, Tears, Breakfast Burritos

Bachelorette Season 8 might not begin until May 14, 2012, but ABC show execs Robert Mills and Mike Fleiss live-tweeted Emily Maynard’s first night of filming with the bachelors. The boys arrived at their epic $4 million North Carolina mansion in five different limos. Emily’s grandma Sheryl was there, too — and filming didn’t end until six in the morning. Chris Harrison made everyone breakfast burritos as soon as filming wrapped!

Emily wore a gold dress (designer to be determined), and the boys were blown away at first sight, Robert Mills reports. “These guys cannot believe it when they see Emily. She is seriously that gorgeous.” Emily was “nervous” as the first limo pulled up, and the guys were, too — one of them even quipped, “This is just like Rudy.” (Um, what?) Emily had 1:1 time with every guy, and the final rose wasn’t dole out until two in the morning.
Emily’s bachelors were a lively, emotional bunch, according to the producers’ tweets. Robert Mills called them “mega handsome,” and added that there are some single dads in the bunch. One guy wore a pink shirt and tie, and another’s jaunty gait prompted Emily to tell him he walked into the room like he’d walk down a runway.
Other notable moments:
- Emily, channeling Carrie from Sex and the City, said: “I believe in love and fabulous shoes”
- Chris Harrison serenaded the very nervous Emily with “Queen of Hearts” before her bachelors arrived
- One of the limos had a collision with a manure truck. Welcome to the country, y’all!
- 50 locals swarmed the front gate of the mansion, trying to get in

I think it's been pretty well established that she has expensive tastes and I don't think she's being comped the items. Her tweets used to name specific designers/items.
Now, if she was carrying a Birken, my eyebrows would truly be raised. I wonder how many pairs of Choo's, Manolos or those infamous red bottom shoes that shall go unnamed, she has?
Some guy is going to have to have deep pockets.

It will definitely be interesting to see the guys falling all over themselves over a Holly Madison lookalike. I feel a tad bit of unreadiness at the glee with which producers are tweeting their fingers off over her. They went from a woman who is now a Doctor of Dentistry to an unwed teen mom with minimal education (but she shole is purty) and are darned near punch drunk over her. Yes, in 2012, I think that sends quite some message. As I said, the guys will be fun to watch.

sjcaligurl, none of this is against you specifically
Call me crazy but this whole show is a little out of step with the times -
It condones cheating on the one you "love" with up to 29 other people, lying by omission, a lot of drama, a complete removal from reality, etc, culminating in an engagement after a total of probably one full day together... all things you definitely don't want in a relationship. The difference is we've taken all those things for granted by virtue of the show's format, so it doesn't seem that odd to us anymore. To be honest, Ashley the DMD would have had more options IRL than the single mother with major baggage. Had it not been Ricky HENDRICKS, NASCAR royalty, and EMILY MAYNARD the new BACHELORETTE, any guy would listen to her story and probably run, if not take a few good steps back.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't have a problem with her on Brad's season though I unabashedly preferred Chantal, and now after Ben's season almost anyone would have made me :Woah-hoo: :Woah-hoo: If the notoriety that Emily has gained makes her more likely to find a guy who's able to accommodate her and her lifestyle and her daughter, then more power to her - I just don't think this show is a commentary on our current societal mores, beyond the fact that we just love reality TV

I wonder how much she negotiated $$ for her season. Ashley was cheap and she was not the favorite although she turned to be the fans, incl. myself
I am sure she had a good lawyer to help her and somehow has a word on the edits. She was so pissed off after the finale with brad and the way they portrayed her as a boring girl.
I also wondered if she negotiated to know if a guy would make fun of her like the asshOle with ashley.

"Reality television frequently portrays a modified (...) day-to-day life, at times utilizing sensationalism to attract audience viewers and increase advertising revenue. Participants are often placed in exotic locations or abnormal situations, and are often persuaded to act in specific scripted ways by off-screen "story editors" or "segment television producers" with the portrayal of events and speech manipulated and contrived to create an illusion of reality through direction and post-production editing techniques." ~ Wikipedia |
