I feel the same way you do, but I'm surprised by it because it's clear Ben is physically attracted to that type since he had Amelia and Angela in his top. Especially with Amelia being in his top because I can't see much else that is all that redeeming about her. The fact that it took Ben so long to make a move on McKenna leads me to believe perhaps the physical spark isn't there.

But McKenna was the first person he noticed on night one. I think it may have been distracted for a while, but he was initially attracted to her.

@Bobette...Love it. Hopefully Wes sees these replies and makes some changes. I doubt it, but I live in eternal hope.

As for those saying why he doesn't meet someone in church, I  bet mommy dearest wouldn't like any woman he brought home. She would always find some reason that she wasn't good enough,  particularly if she encouraged him to think for himself.

@Sprite  Yep, I agree.  Wes is getting a lot of criticism for applying for the show but after the last episode I now see it as a cry for help.  Twice already this season he's expressed a desire to relax his conservative views, only to have Baby appear and gaslight him into thinking it's not what he really wants.  It's textbook coersive control.  I hope he can get away from her clutches and start de-programming from what appears to be a lifetime of indoctrination, guilt and repression.

I wonder where the obsession has come from with casting devoutly religious men on this show.  Carlin, Jed, and now taking it to the extreme with Wes. It's very odd IMO, considering Australia is predominantly secular.  On the last census, "no religion" was the number one response.  Pentecostalism - of which hillsong is an offshoot - is practiced by only 1% of Australians. Maybe one of the producers is a member of hillsong. Maybe they think extremism makes for good viewing.  

Hint to TPTB: it doesn't.

@Sprite Well, whoever's controlling their accounts issued these coordinated statements at the exact same time, but I'll wait till they have their accounts back to hear what McKenna (in particular) REALLY thinks.  I suspect "distance and communication prevented us from exploring our romantic connection" is code for "he ghosted me from the moment the director yelled 'CUT'".

And I don't believe for one second that Wes wrote this.  As IF he'd use the word "f***ing", even if censored.  Describing Brea as a "beautiful and genuine country girl" just sounds to me like what was written next to her polaroid on the producer's storyboard, and/or the image of her TPTB want people to have in their minds if they decide to reprise Bachelorette in 2024 and cast her as Lead.

As Luke and Ellie, don't those posts just sum their relationship up: a gushing, effusive ode by Luke, vs three short lines by Ellie.  Suspect she'll move on to someone more Instagrammable soon.  I will say though it's rather Freudian how closely Luke resembles her dad; not just in appearance but also the way they both worship her.  She seems very accustomed to being told she's special, IMO.

Looks like the cast have control of their accounts back.  Again, posts from Luke and Ellie paint the picture IMO.  His are a shrine to "queen" Ellie, while hers depict him as someone she's just tacked on to her usual life; he "fits".  There's no way she's going to move to regional Queensland so if they're going to stay together Luke will have to leave his entire life behind and move to WA, IMO.

I'd expect a short QLD trip soon - a few token pics of them out bush together - before she scurries back to her nice comfortable princess lifestyle in Perth.  This relationship will only last as long as Luke is prepared to live where she wants to live, do what she wants to do and worship the ground she walks on.  She doesn't care about him enough to make any changes to her own life, IMO.

Ben is cruising around on a yacht promoting clothing brands and looking for ways to spend his modelling money so straight back into his usual routine.  It seems a tad incredulous and disrespectful to claim that "distance" from McKenna was the reason for their split when the first post he makes is literally him cruising around her home town without her but fortunately, McKenna seems totally fine.

Meanwhile Wes, as predicted pre-season, is using his TV appearance to promote his church, and try to lure people to join hillsong.  I felt sorry for him during the show but if he seriously watched it back and didn't see how poorly developed his relationship skills are due to his upbringing and beliefs, nor how suffocating his step mother is, he is doomed to continued self-sabotage and can't be helped, IMO.

As for Brea, she has wiped almost all references to Bachelor from her account aside from one video, and uploaded a story of her "caravan" which I have to say looks rather nice (though that bed definitely need a mosquito net around it!)










I found this little detail interesting.  Maybe she had more in common with Wes than I realised.  Just goes to show you can be religious and enjoy sex and not be completely messed up, hey Wes?  Still see her as a better match for Luke though.

I'd quite like to see a season of Bachelorette with Brea as Lead.  She's articulate and adventurous and they could cast a fun, diverse group of guys for her.  But considering she's wiped almost all reference to her time on the show it seems unlikely.

Well I  finally caught up. I have to admit that I didn't hate it. In fact, I enjoyed more than I thought I would.

I didn't mind any of the leads...damned with faint praise. Obviously Luke did the best job. He seemed interested in several women, was self depreciating and genuinely kind to everyone...even the women he wasn't dating and Wes. I think whoever ends up with him will be a lucky woman. I didn't mind either of his women and they were  both pleasant and supportive with each other at that horribly awkward family date. Ellie was also kind to McKenna at the end. Not sure she is the one for him, but I do wish them well.

Ben was OK. I was willing to buy his issues, but not that he was really into any of the women. I liked McKenna. She seemed sweet and certainly much nicer than Angela, who was nice when she got what she wanted, but a nasty bit of goods when she didn't. She was so p*ssed when Ben said all the nice stuff about McKenna at the MTF date, but all self satisfied laughter when he practically had to be forced to do the same about her. She was very snotty when she wasn't chosen. I can see why she is single. Looks will only get you so far and they don't last forever.

Brea was my favorite. Sweet, genuine, normal. Too bad she got stuck with Wes. (I would have loved her paired up with Luke, but you can't fight chemistry.) Loved that she refused to settle for him and picked herself and is now happily living with someone. (May I add that I actually liked the therapist that they had and she actually had some decent advice.)

Now we come to Wes. OMG! He actually thought he was compromising??? He is a stunted man child and seeing his b*tch of a stepmom I understand why. WTH is his dad? or was he simply smart enough to stay from this mess? Nix that, he married her. Baby. Even the name makes me cringe. She was so nasty to poor Brea during the MTF. And idiotic Wes just sat there and said nothing.  I feel for any poor woman he may pick, but I am consoled that he will probably die alone and still a virgin. And Baby? She should meet up with pilot Pete's nasty mom, although she cheers her son to have sex...in her house and makes them breakfast after. Now that would be show! Two super controlling moms face off. Their sons sex lives hang in the balance...
