The Bachelorette: Emily Maynard Worries Ryan Is "Too Perfect" for Her

Forget fancy helicopter rides and lavish dinners!
On Monday's episode of The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard decided to take contestant Ryan on what proved to be one of the most meaningful one-on-one dates in show history: She took him to her home to experience her everyday life as a single mom.
"Usually these dates are over-the-top and glamorous, but as a single mom, things aren't always as glamorous," Maynard, 26, said before she welcomed 31-year-old personal trainer Ryan into her kitchen to unpack groceries and bake cookies for her daughter Ricki's soccer team.
For his part, Ryan couldn't have been happier with his domestic date, which later included dinner at Charlotte, North Carolina's Osso and a Gloriana concert. "I feel pretty good about how things are. Just spending the time I did with Emily today, I found her attractive as heck dressed down in her 'mom wear,' as she calls it, just being herself."
Though she was smitten by Ryan, Maynard kept her guard up when the duo discussed their relationship histories over dinner. "I don't want anyone to see this as a competition, but I don't want to be the prize that you win at the end," Maynard reasoned. "I don't want to be the game."
Maynard also couldn't help but compare Ryan to her Bachelor ex-fiance Brad Womack, who proposed to her in 2011. "I really like Ryan but I almost worry that he's too perfect," she said in a voiceover. "He reminds me of Brad in that way and obviously that didn't work out for me."
Hitting it off with Ryan enough to give him a rose during their date, Maynard didn't have the same luck with Joe, whom she she wined and dined in West Virginia, her home state. Eliminating the 27-year-old Matthew McConaughey look-alike over dinner, Maynard argued that the duo were heading in different directions and she couldn't see her or her daughter, 6, fitting into his life.
Later, the woman of the hour met up with her remaining suitors at the Bachelorette mansion after having participated in a variety show group date alongside Muppets Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
Sent packing this week along with Joe: biology teacherAaron and financial advisor Kyle.
Tell Us: Is Ryan "too perfect" for Emily?

Eight-Time Grammy Award-Winner Dolly Parton, the Queen of Country Herself,
Serenades Emily and One Lucky Man at Dollywood
Country Music Star Luke Bryan Gives a Special Concert to Emily and Another Rose Contender
"Episode 803" - Chris' heart is racing - for more than one reason: Not only does he discover that he has this week's first one-on-one date with Emily, he's jolted when he learns that he must attempt to scale a building with her if he's to spend any quality time with the Bachelorette, and when she surprises him with a performance by country star Luke Bryant. Meanwhile 12 men will be grilled by Emily's friends, who will report back to her about who they think would be a good match for her and a good stepfather for Ricki. Emily surprises Arie with a flight to Dollywood for a special day on which the park is open only to them, and in a total shocker to Emily, her idol, country music legend Dolly Parton, gives the couple a private concert. But it all ends at a dramatic cocktail party when some of the men come clean about whether they're ready to step up and be a stepfather, which sends shock waves through the group -- and Emily decides to do something about it -- on "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, MAY 28 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
It's revealed to Chris that he has to work for his romantic dinner with Emily overlooking the downtown skyline of Charlotte... by joining her in scaling a building! The climb will be filled with a lot of nature's special effects - thunder and lightning. Will Chris be able to help Emily overcome her fears and lead her to the top? The evening culminates with a special performance by country music star Luke Bryan. But will Emily surprise Chris one more time with a rose?
The next day Emily accompanies 12 bachelors to a local park where they're introduced to her best friends. The women come prepared to interrogate the bachelors and tell Emily who they think will be best for her and Ricki. After the inquisition, the men's fathering skills are further tested when Emily reveals a group of rambunctious children streaming into the park who are all ready to play ball, hop on swings and chase the guys around, all under the Bachelorette's watchful eye. At the after party that night, the competition revs up as the men battle for the rose. Meanwhile, one bachelor breaks down because he misses his son. Will he be able to continue his pursuit of the Bachelorette or will he succumb to his loneliness?
Emily surprises an ecstatic Arie with the last individual date of the week, which begins with a private jet to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where she reveals that they'll spend the day at Dollywood, one of her favorite places. The couple have the park all to themselves to ride all the rides, play games and have a ball. But even Emily, who went to the park many times growing up, can't guess what is coming. She gets the surprise of her life when her idol, the legendary Queen of Country Dolly Parton, serenades the two of them. After the special concert, things get steamy as they enjoy a romantic dinner and share one of the most intense first kisses any couple has shared in "Bachelorette" history. Is this the start of something special or is it too good to be true?
The cocktail party provides the backdrop for a bombshell disclosure, as Emily discovers who is ready to be a father and who isn't. A distraught Bachelorette makes her feelings clearly known. When one of the men tries to comfort her with a kiss, another bachelor is outraged. It's a rough night, and only 13 men will remain at the end of it to leave Charlotte and move on to the first stop in their world wind tour, Bermuda.
The 16 remaining men are:
Alessandro, 30, a grain merchant from St. Paul, MN
Alejandro, 24, a mushroom farmer from San Francisco, CA
Arie, 30, a race car driver from Scottsdale, AZ
Charlie, 32, a recruiter from Nashville, TN
Chris, 25, a corporate sales director from Chicago, IL
Doug, 33, a charity director/realtor from Seattle, WA
Jef, 27, an entrepreneur from Salt Lake City, UT
John "Wolf," 30, a data destruction specialist from St. Louis, MO
Kalon, 27, a luxury brand consultant from Houston, TX
Michael, 26, a rehab counselor from Austin, TX

Ryan, 31, a pro sports trainer from Augusta, GA
Sean, 28, an insurance agent from Dallas, TX

PRESS RELEASE - ENTERTAINMENT - TELECONFERENCE TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY, 5/23) WITH ELIMINATED BACHELOR JOE
MEDIA ALERT
PLEASE JOIN US TOMORROW (WEDNESDAY) FOR A TELECONFERENCE CALL WITH JOE, ONE OF THREE BACHELORS WHO WERE ELIMINATED THIS WEEK ON "THE BACHELORETTE"
WHAT:
Teleconference call with Joe, who was eliminated this week - on his one-on-one date with Emily to The Greenbrier - on "The Bachelorette," airing on ABC.
WHEN:
Wednesday, May 23, 12:30 p.m., ET/11:30 a.m., CT/9:30 a.m., PT
Please note the special day for this week's call.
WHO:
Joe, 27, a field energy advisor from Los Angeles, CA, had a fabulous date with Emily at the famed Greenbrier resort in West Virginia. She needed to dig a little deeper to see if he would be a good fit in both her life and Ricki's. He seemed a bit unsettled by Emily's question concerning where he saw himself in five years, and a little surprised when she revealed that she wanted to have more children in the near future. And although she found him very sweet, she just didn't "feel any butterflies." Instead, Emily felt horrible. She had had a great night with Joe and appreciated him putting himself out there for her, but she never really discovered where he would fit into her life. Joe just parted ways - without a rose. He never expected it to hurt that much. And Emily was left to watch what should have been romantic, celebratory fireworks all by herself, pondering her next date and the rest of the remaining men.

Ratings: House Finale Rises; America's Got Talent, Bachelorette Dip
May 22, 2012 01:28 PM ET
by Joyce Eng
House checked out on a high note.
The medical drama's series finale drew 8.7 million viewers and a 2.9 demo rating on Monday, marking a 30 percent improvement from last week and the show's best numbers since January. The House retrospective earned 6.15 million viewers and a 2.0.
House series finale: How did it all end?
NBC topped the night in the demo, due largely to America's Got Talent (9.5 million, 3.1), which dropped six-tenths in the demo from its premiere last week. American Ninja Warrior followed with 6.1 million and a 2.4.
On ABC, Dancing with the Stars' finale performance night snagged 16.4 million viewers and a 2.8, up slightly from last week, but down from last spring's final performance show (22 million, 4.6). The Bachelorette (7.7 million, 2.4) dropped a bit from last week's 90-minute opener.
8 p.m.
CBS: How I Met Your Mother (R) 4.1 million (1.3); 2 Broke Girls (R) 4.6 million (1.6)
ABC: Dancing with the Stars 16.4 million (2.8)
Fox: House retrospective 6.15 million (2.0)
NBC: America's Got Talent 9.5 million (3.1)
CW: One Tree Hill (R) 0.6 million (0.3) [8-10 p.m.]
9 p.m.
CBS: Two and a Half Men (R) 7.1 million (2.0); Mike & Molly (R) 6.3 million (1.7)
ABC: The Bachelorette 7.7 million (2.4) [9-11 p.m.]
Fox: House 8.7 million (2.9)
NBC: American Ninja Warrior 6.1 million (2.4) [9-11 p.m.]
10 p.m.
CBS: Clash of the Commercials: USA vs. The World 5.9 million (1.4)
NBC was the top rated network in adults 18-49 while ABC was number one in total viewers.
On FOX, the series finale of House garnered a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating, (in line with what most of you predicted) up from last week's 2.2 rating for the series' penultimate episode. This marks the best ratings for the series since January. The retrospective that preceded it earned a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.
CBS was all repeats until 10PM, when they aired an hour-long special, Clash of the Commercials: USA vs. The World, which earned a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.
On NBC, America's Got Talent earned a 3.1 rating, down considerably from the 3.7 adults 18-49 rating it received last week. The series premiere of American Ninja Warrior on the network scored a 2.4 among adults 18-49.
On ABC, Dancing with the Stars earned a 2.8 rating, up two-tenths from last week's 2.6 adults 18-49 rating. The Bachelorette earned a 2.4, down two tenths from last week's 2.6 rating.
The CW was all repeats for the evening.

ABC's new 'The Bachelorette 2012' spoilers: What's ahead for Week 3 on May 28?
http://www.examiner.com/article/abc-s-new-the-bachelorette-2012-spoilers-what-s-ahead-for-week-3-on-may-28
Monday night viewers watched Emily Maynard go on her first dates this season on ABC's “The Bachelorette 2012,” and there is more ahead for her time with the guys in Charlotte next week. Tuesday ABC released details for Week 3 airing May 28, and fans cannot wait to watch it. Emily will get her first dates with two fan favorites, Chris Bukowski and Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and most of the other guys will go on a group date. What else will be happening on Episode 803 according to “The Bachelorette” spoilers?
Emily and Chris will go rappelling and later have a concert with Luke Bryan. ABC shares that their climb has some thunder and lightening that will make Emily's fears a tad more intense, but it looks like this will help these two connect as well. The two then head to a romantic dinner and their Luke Bryan concert, and the sneak peek photos for the date shows they definitely find some chemistry together. Will Chris Bukowski get the rose on this date? “The Bachelorette” spoilers indicate that he most certainly does.
The following day, 12 of the guys join Emily at a nearby park and meet her best friends. The ladies will question the bachelors and share their thoughts with Emily. Then, some energetic kids are brought to the park and the guys will have the opportunity to show off their daddy potential while they swing, chase and play ball with the kids. The group moves on to a party later that evening, and the guys are said to get competitive for the group date rose. ABC says that one man gets emotional over missing his son, and this appears to be Tony.
The other one-on-one date for this episode is with Arie Luyendyk, Jr. Emily and Arie take a private jet to Tennessee where they spend the day at Dollywood. Emily is thrilled and the two ride the rides, play games, and have a great time. Later they meet Dolly Pardon, who serenades them. Next Arie and Emily enjoy a romantic dinner and “share one of the most intense first kisses any couple has shared in 'Bachelorette' history.” Of course Arie gets the date rose.
ABC then teases that “the cocktail party provides the backdrop for a bomshell disclosure,” which is said to be related to “who is ready to be a father and who isn't.” Emily is said to be distraught and “makes her feelings clearly known.” The previews make it appear that this portion may involve Alessandro. Then one bachelor tries to comfort Emily with a kiss, leaving another outraged. Three more will head home before the rest of the group packs up for Bermuda.
Are you excited to see Arie and Chris get one-on-one dates? Who will shine and who will falter on the group date? Tune in Monday nights to watch Emily Maynard on ABC's “The Bachelorette 2012.”

Bachelorette Emily Maynard Responds To Brad Womack’s ‘Dodged A Bullet’ Slam
http://www.accesshollywood.com/bachelorette-emily-maynard-responds-to-brad-womacks-dodged-a-bullet-slam_article_65177
‘The Bachelorette’ star Emily Maynard is all smiles on Access Hollywood Live on May 23, 2012Caption
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Following the breakup of Emily Maynard and Brad Womack, the former “Bachelor” was reported as saying he “dodged a bullet” by ending his relationship with Emily, ABC’s latest “Bachelorette.”
Despite the sting of the seemingly caustic remark, Emily said she wants to believe her ex-fiance didn’t intend to insult her.
“At first, my feelings were really hurt, because we left everything very civil and I’ve never said a bad word about him,” Emily told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live. “But, knowing Brad, he didn’t mean it that way.
“That’s what I want to say,” she added.
Now happily single and searching for love as “The Bachelorette,” the North Carolina native told Billy and Kit she’s not going to let her conservative, traditional persona get in the way of kissing a few frogs to find her prince.
“I am pretty conservative, but I told myself coming into this I was only going to be the ‘The Bachelorette’ once in my life,” she said. “So, if you can’t make out with a bunch of guys when you’re ‘The Bachelorette,’ when can you?”
But stolen lip-locks may be all her would-be suitors earn, as the 26-year-old single mom hopes her season of “The Bachelorette” will focus more on romance versus sex.
“I just wanted it to be a different season of ‘The Bachelorette,’” she said. “I wanted it to be like romance and I don’t know, just more of a real life love instead of all this like, drama and just sex and all that. I wanted it to be sweeter.”
“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.

Thank you cfck2222!
cfck2222 wrote:A quick tabloid update for the week:
OK teases a Bachelorette dating scandal on its cover (not the main cover story) and In Touch has a little story inside about an alleged Emily secret. US Weekly also includes Emily vs. Brad as one of their Feuds Of The Week.
OK's B'ette dating scandal is about Arie but the actual text shows how overblown the title is. The article is a 2 page spread talking about how Emily's into Arie but he briefly dated a B'ette producer 9 years ago before quickly ending that relationship to save their friendship. [My editorial note: This doesn't sound like much of a scandal to me] It does say Emily was furious when she found out about it though. There are also a couple of pictures of Arie that refer to him as a playboy who likes to flirt with famous ladies. I think there's a picture of him in 2010 posing at an event with a couple people in the same picture, one of whom is Kim Kardashian and the other is a guy (I want to say Kanye West but I don't remember). Nothing specific but the article ends by saying Emily's playing a game too because even though the NASCAR and Indy circuits are different there's almost no way she wouldn't have known about Arie Sr.'s success on the Indy circuit.
In Touch claims Emily had a chest enhancement procedure and consults a doctor who's never treated her to confirm.
US Weekly mentions how Brad said in an interview that he'd dodged a bullet when he and Emily broke up and says Emily replied to Ashley Spivey in a tweet by saying it was a "diamond encrusted bullet".

Emily Maynard Thinks Chris Harrison Would Make A Great ‘Bachelor’
Wednesday, May 23, 2012
http://ryan.kiisfm.com/pages/ryansrecap.html?feed=152739&article=10148245
Wednesday, May 23, 2012
Emily Maynard called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Wednesday to talk about this season of “The Bachelorette,” gives her thoughts on ex-fiancé Brad Womack’s recent rude comments, and tells us if she thinks host Chris Harrison would make a good “Bachelor.”
On The Chris Harrison Rumor:
With his recent divorce, rumors have been swirling that host Chris Harrison may become the next “Bachelor.” Emily says: “Chris would be a great ‘Bachelor.’ I think all the girls would be so lucky if Chris was ‘The Bachelor,’ but I don’t think he’s going to do it.” So, are they actually considering it? “I don’t think so, no. I don’t know, I’m the last person to ask, but I don’t think so.”
On Brad Womack’s Recent Comments:
Emily was on “The Bachelor” with Brad Womack, they got engaged, and then it didn’t work out. Well, recently Brad said: ‘Can I say I’m glad, I think I dodged a bullet with that relationship. I just hope it works out with her.’ So, what was Emily’s reaction to the comment? “Honestly, when I first heard it my feelings were a little bit hurt. Just because I felt like we had ended things on such great terms and I never said anything bad about him, but I really thought about it and I know Brad better than that I’m sure he didn’t mean it the way it sounded. I don’t take it to heart.”
Is It Hard To ‘Break Up’ With The Guys?
“Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to tell you. I did the absolute ugly cry on the 2nd date. I was so upset,” Emily says. But she wasn’t crying because she thought she was breaking his heart. She tells us: “I just felt so bad, because I thought the date had gone so well and it came out of nowhere. He didn’t expect it at all and that’s the worst part.” Emily recalls: “I remember what it was like on my very first date with Brad. I thought if he had sent me home on my very first date I would have been crushed.”
Why She Likes “Bachelorette” Contestant Jef:
“I think it’s because he’s like the last person that I would ever expect to be on ‘The Bachelorette.’ He’s not the typical guy that comes on the show and he’s a very free spirit, but he’s also very soft spoken. Just his voice make me feel like totally calm and he’s funny,” Emily says. I think he’s very shy, which is kind of the same way I was with Brad. I wasn’t the girl that was like: ‘Look at me, look at me.’”
You can see all the drama unfold on “The Bachelorette” Monday nights at 8/7c on ABC.

'The Bachelorette' bachelor Joe Gendreau: Emily Maynard and I just didn't hit it off
The Bachelorette bachelor Joe Gendreau, a 27-year-old field energy advisor from Los Angeles, CA, was eliminated along with two other suitors during Monday night's broadcast of the ABC reality dating series' eighth season.
Joe was ousted during his first one-on-one date with The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard because she claimed there was just no spark, while fellow bachelors Aaron and Kyle were both eliminated during the second episode's Rose Ceremony.
During a Wednesday conference call with reporters, Joe talked to Reality TV World about his short-lived The Bachelorette experience -- including whether he got the closure he needed and understood why Emily ousted him from the competition so early on, why he thought they were in different places in their lives, and whether he really enjoyed his experience or regret going on the show to begin with.
Reality TV World: Do you have any insight as to why you might have been eliminated and what reasoning went into Emily's decision to let you go so early on? I mean, Emily told you she didn't think she and Ricki would fit into your life, but what exactly do you think she meant by that, and did you disagree?
Joe Gendreau: So yeah, Emily and I just didn't really hit it off with each other. We were kind of at different places in our lives. I think I was a single kind of free-spirited individual, while I think she was someone more settled in her ways -- maybe more committed in whether it be family or work. So I guess that's the answer to that.
Reality TV World: Although you were aware there was a rose up for grabs during your one-on-one date with Emily and you had to earn it, did you really think there was a chance she'd deny you it so early on? Did you kind of just assume you were going to be safe and get the rose as long as you had a good time together?
Joe Gendreau: Honestly, I tried to keep the rose out of mind. I didn't really want to, you know, look at it as a challenge and be like, "Oh, I really want to get that rose" and stuff. I just wanted to see how my time was with her and entertain the idea of just seeing if I could hit it off with her. And ultimately it didn't really work out, but it was a great time though.
Reality TV World: How familiar were you with previous The Bachelor and The Bachelorette seasons? I think this was the first time a Bachelorette let a guy go on their first round of one-on-one dates, so what are your thoughts on that? Did you feel a little robbed of the experience, and were you surprised to be cut?
Joe Gendreau: No, I thought it was a really great experience. I enjoyed every minute, and as far as my knowledge of previous seasons, I've never really watched the show before.
Reality TV World: Now that you've been on The Bachelorette, do you think it will be easier to date? And at the same time, do you worry that similar to the way they talk about people going on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for the wrong reasons, do you worry girls might want to go out with you for the wrong reasons now?
Joe Gendreau: Yeah, no. Only time can tell.
Reality TV World: You were only in the house a few days, but were you starting to develop any feelings for Emily?
Joe Gendreau: No, I knew her very briefly.
Reality TV World: Why did you originally go on The Bachelorette? Was it really to find love, and if so, why were you hoping to find love with Emily in particular?
Joe Gendreau: You know, I went on the show to entertain the idea of possibly finding a relationship and get to know someone. So I wanted to see where that could take me, but ultimately, what happened happened and it was a great experience.
Reality TV World: Kyle and Aaron were the other two guys who didn't receive roses during the same episode you were eliminated. How well did you know the two of them and what were your impressions of them? Do you have any idea why Emily might've eliminated them as well?
Joe Gendreau: I didn't really know him super well. I think one of them is a Canadian biology teacher right?
Reality TV World: Yes, Aaron is the biology teacher.
Joe Gendreau: Yeah, I didn't really get a chance to know him very well. Kyle, didn't get to know him very well. Maybe Emily's not -- yeah sorry, I got nothing more for you on that one. I think it was ultimately that she never really got the opportunity to get to know them very well.
Reality TV World: I know you said your betting on Jef when it comes to who might be able to win Emily's heart, but besides Jef, were there any guys that stood out in your mind for being really pulled-together, solid potential matches for Emily? Who did you think would probably stick around for awhile while you were there?
Joe Gendreau: Definitely Arie. Arie will stick around and Sean will stick around. Those guys, they'll be around for awhile. And then maybe Doug too, the guy who got the first impression rose.
Reality TV World: Do you have any reasoning as to why you think that?
Joe Gendreau: Just solid, good guys -- good character.

Arie Luyendyk Jr - Anne Proffit photo
Arie Luyendyk Jr has raced Indy cars, Firestone Indy Lights cars and A1GP formula cars, among his higher-profile gigs. He currently serves as one of the squadron driving the street-legal Indy car that makes the rounds at every stop on the IZOD IndyCar Series and takes patrons for rides around the tracks. He also works with Zanardi America, distributing Italian racing karts made under the Zanardi (think CART champion Alex) name.
People in the racing business and fans know the son of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner (and the fastest driver ever at The Brickyard) Arie Luyendyk for his racing exploits, but now fans of ABC-TV's The Bachelorette are discovering the 30-year-old racecar driver.
Luyendyk is one of 25 select suitors vying for the hand of Emily Maynard (former fiancee of the late Ricky Hendrick) on the Monday night television show. He's making his name known to people who know nothing about motor racing and could bring more fans to the sport with his engaging attitude, good looks and subtle charm.
On the Memorial Day show, Luyendyk gets his first one-on-one date with Maynard.
But before that, he'll be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway serving as color commentator for Friday's Carb Day Firestone Indy Lights race, the Freedom 100. His understanding of the series, cars, teams and drivers always makes the broadcasts on NBC Sports Network compelling viewing.
Will Luyendyk make it through Monday night's special date with a rose, emblematic of a return the following week? We'll have to check in and find out. Although we asked Arie how long he was going to be part of The Bachelorette, he said he wasn't allowed to tell us. So I guess we'll have to watch and see.

Luyendyk to call Freedom 100 on Carb Day
By Kate Guerra
Published: May 24, 2012 @ 9:32 AM
The field for Carb Day’s May 25 Firestone Freedom 100 is set at 19 talented drivers from all backgrounds. Behind the scenes, inside the broadcast booth, there’s a diverse mix of talent as well. Arie Luyendyk, Jr., will join Mike King and four-time champion Dario Franchitti to call the race.
Luyendyk, Jr., current contestant on the popular reality show "The Bachelorette," is the son of two-time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk, Sr. The younger Luyendyk competed in Firestone Indy Lights from 2002 to 2010 and also raced in the 2006 Indianapolis 500.
“It’s great to return to the broadcast booth again,” Luyendyk, Jr., said. “I’ve been spending my time catching up with all the current Firestone Indy Lights drivers and getting to know them, and I’m looking forward to calling the race.”
ENTRY LIST | WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Essentially known as the Indy 500 of the Firestone Indy Lights schedule, the Firestone Freedom 100 puts the future drivers of the IZOD IndyCar Series on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a 40-lap/100 mile shootout. Last year’s race was won by eventual series champion Josef Newgarden, who now races in the IZOD IndyCar Series with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing.
Several other drivers competing in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday have made their way up from Firestone Indy Lights, including front-row starter James Hinchcliffe, Marco Andretti, Ed Carpenter, JR Hildebrand, Charlie Kimball, Bryan Clauson, and three-time Freedom 100 winner Wade Cunningham.
“If you look at the 33 drivers competing in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, a lot of them have come from Indy Lights and are doing very well,” Luyendyk, Jr., said. “The series is doing a great job preparing the drivers for the IZOD IndyCar Series, and there’s a lot of talent in Firestone Indy Lights right now.”
Returning from a six-week break, the Firestone Indy Lights championship battle picks up where it left off in Long Beach. Sebastian Saavedra of AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport, who will also be racing in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, leads the point standings by a point over rookie Tristan Vautier of Sam Schmidt Motorsports, with SSM teammate Esteban Guerrieri just three points out of the lead.
Several drivers will be making their first appearance in the 2012 Firestone Indy Lights season and could prove to be series contenders for the win, including series returners Peter Dempsey, Brandon Wagner, Anders Krohn and Chase Austin.
The Firestone Freedom 100 will be aired live on NBC Sports Network with coverage beginning at 12 p.m. (ET). Qualifying will begin at 1:15 p.m. (ET) on May 24 with a live stream available on racecontrol.indycar.com.
