Hi my name is Rodney Mathews from Rancho Cucamonga, CA and I am a graduate from Fresno State. I majored in Mass Communications and Journalism and I was also a student athlete who played football. I’ve always let football guide me for my college career so I went to Abilene Christian and Citrus College before I landed at Fresno State and I’m glad I came here because I was surrounded by some of the best young journalists this state has to offer.

As soon as I got to college I knew I wanted to become a reporter. I’ve always dreamed of becoming an anchor but I know that takes time. In the end I would love to focus on sports broadcasting however I’m willing to do news as well. Being a former student athlete, I am big on being a team player and doing whatever I have to do to become the best reporter I can be. Rodney is a glass-half-full kind of guy. After his dreams of playing in the NFL were shattered by a career-ending injury, Rodney picked himself up and redirected his ambition.
