Re: Sweet Home Alabama Season 3 ~ Contestants ~ Spoilers
First, let me start with the disclaimer that I am a huge Bubba fan! :Bubba:
Second, I realize that there is a lot of Jeremiah love here, so I apologize if the following opinions (mine only) offend anyone. I am not writing this to offend, just wondering where y'all got that koolaid you're drinking so I can have a glass too and feel better about Paige's "spoiled" choice. (the use of that smiley indicates that I am joking about y'all drinking koolaid, folks)
I also realize that editing plays a part in what we are seeing on our tv screens, but after seeing the video that Jeremiah made of him "having fun" on his farm (which is NOT edited by anyone but Jeremiah himself, as far as I can tell) ... well, that video just confirmed for me what I have been feeling while watching this season of SHA. Jeremiah seems emotionally immature and not ready to commit to an adult relationship. Oh Paige, I feel you sweetheart. I made the same type of decisions when it came to love relationships myself when I was young - always went for the guy who wasn't ready to commit or not emotionally mature enough to have a lifelong relationship - yet.
I know that the heart wants what the heart wants and I also realize that this is Paige's choice, not mine or anyone else viewing this program on our tv screens. However, having said that I just can't help but shake the feeling that the Paige/Jeremiah relationship is doomed to not be long-term. Paige always looks so sad and concerned when talking about or talking with Jeremiah. The thought of her choosing Jeremiah in the end makes me want to scream!
Oh, and while I'm making one of my infrequent posts, I'll take this opportunity to say that I hate this emoticon!
I've always hated the saying "beating a dead horse" (and yes, I do know what it means and it does happen a lot on message boards). I always wonder how dog (or insert your favorite animal here) lovers would feel if the emoticon showed someone beating on a supposed dead dog. There, I said it!

Re: Sweet Home Alabama Season 3 ~ Contestants ~ Spoilers
Thanks for the honesty, Chacharo! When I hear Jeremiah speak on the show about his romantic life, it sounds like it was almost non-existent. His statement that he doesn't just date to date sums it up: he only spends time with someone if he thinks that they could have a future. For him to look at Paige and spend time with her esp. in this forum means that he sees something in her that he wants long term. He doesn't, though, have the ability to cope with the multiple other dudes who are also dating his woman. His reluctance to me really is explained by his statements that if Paige could 100% commit to him then he'd give her himself. He's not willing to be played a fool or act just to benefit the show. I do think that he has real feelings.
As for Paige, there's something in her that wants Jeremiah. Whether they last long term, who knows? The fact that Jeremiah and Paige have weathered the atrocious statements flung at them as well as a negative edit--which also implies that the producers don't have much faith in them--says something about them being committed to each other. Now, when and if she moves in with him, if then they can't make it work, then at least they tried and both of them learned.
For as much as Bubba is a good man and would treat Paige so well, she might not be able to put feelings or a soul connection where it already exists with someone else.
At least, we get Bubba as the next lead. He's going to be amazing!

Thank you for being totally honest Chacharo! About the beating a dead horse emoticon, I see what you are saying in relation to if it was another animal. Do you want me to remove the emoticon??

San, you are so sweet! No, I absolutely do not want you to remove that emoticon! I believe in freedom of speech and that everyone is entitled to their opinion. (I love the way you and Love run this board, by the way.)
I have been a little disappointed that so many people commented how much they love that emoticon when it recently became available. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean that I don't believe that others should not have a right to use it. Sort of like the conversations that were occurring when the emoticon became popular, I believe it got overused itself. I just wanted to say how much I didn't like it and make people think before they use it repeatedly. It's all good.

I wanted to add that the video of Jeremiah having fun was made (correct me if I am wrong) I think in 2009. So its not something he did like 2 months ago...

Re: Sweet Home Alabama Season 3 ~ Contestants ~ Spoilers
^^ I believe the video he posted were clips from 2006 and earlier. It's basically the same clips I found on his myspace; and he hasn't released a video on that forum since 2006.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Chacharo! I love Bubba as well, but I will have to respectfully disagree about Paige and Jeremiah being bad for each other. I also don't think Paige was always sad when she talked about Jeremiah (I'm sure she had happy times with Jeremiah that was left in the editing room). I'm not sure how long their relationship will last; just like I wouldn't be sure if her relationship with Bubba (or any other guy she picks) would have lasted either. If she feels the most with Jeremiah, then I think that is the "right" decision in her part to choose him. I think Paige would have always wondered about the "what ifs" if she didn't choose the guy she felt she had the most connection with. In my opinion, both Paige and Bubba (or whomever) would have been "miserable" in the long run if Paige still had these residual feelings for another guy. I feel she would have been settling (by no means am I implying Bubba is not good for her. As I said, I like Bubba and Jeremiah); and basically caving into outside pressure.
About the "having fun in the farm" video Jeremiah made, I believe most of those clips were from 2006 and earlier. Although, I believe Jeremiah is always going to be an adrenaline junkie. I don't think that necessarily mean he's emotionally immature and not ready to commit. I think some people just thrive for certain activities. I know a lot of people; regardless of age, would have never done those activities in the video because that's just not their style. But, I don't think that makes them any more mature and ready to commit.
And Veg-Out - I really don't think the editing has to do with whether or not the producers thought the couple would last post show. If they did, they sure had low expectations in what I would call a long term relationship. Paige and her guy lasted longer than both of the other couples from former seasons.
I think it's a combination of things that may explain the direction they took with editing. First, the introduction of a new producer on the show. I looked at her IMDB; if you've seen some of the shows she's produced, I'm not surprised this season of the SHA was edited this way to elicit a certain response. I also think the fact that Jeremiah is from MN, and not from the South had a lot to do with it. I believe most of the show's fan base is probably viewers from the South. Most people up north or west don't even know about this show. In my opinion, someone like Bubba and little Shaun are what most people in the South would deem as their dream guy. Here we have a guy from up north... I really don't think majority of the viewers even see him as "country". I also think Bubba and little Shaun really are incredible guys, most importantly much more comfortable with the camera and are natural talkers. They're probably a producers' dream to edit, since they give them a lot more material than what Jeremiah would give them.
Ok, those are just my 0.02. I can't wait for the finale!

Re: Sweet Home Alabama Season 3 ~ Contestants ~ Spoilers
Chacharo - Glad you felt you could express your opinion about both Jeremiah, and us drinking the kool-aid and the emoticon. I wasn't even aware of that specific emoticon but now that I've seen your comments I would be reluctant to use it.
The 2006 video - someone said awhile back that his grandma was in it. My grandma wouldn't have wanted to involved but both grandfathers would along with many aunts and uncles and siblings! It is a wondrous thing that everyone is different in their likes, the way the view others, what they need from a partner, and how they spend their free time.
The video activities are somewhat representative of small town America finding ways to have fun. Typically, but I don't like to stereotype, "farm and ranch boys" are in great shape - they work very hard at their chores and farm responsibilities. They can handle more physical risk than a lot of us. They don't have access to the malls, shows, plays, museums, concerts, pools, amusement parks others have. Some days there aren't enough similar-aged people around to play volleyball, softball or badminton. They make their own fun and it's always good to see when it isn't centered around alcohol which so many un-married's (and tv shows) tend to do (but there's some!). Church social activities are big. My brother-in-law, at age 38 blew up his mother's bird-bath fountain with a fire-cracker and is very responsible otherwise. And of course any kind of race is fair game - from turtle races to who's remote control vehicle will go the farthest to floating down a river in an inner-tube. They are anything but couch potatoes - no nutritionist or TV ad needs to tell them to get up and move - they already find something to move about. Keep in mind Paige is a barrel racer - that has quite a bit of active risk involved too and obviously likes the Nascar adrenaline.
These activities prepare them for the risky aspects of their future ranch and farm life . I don't mean to preach. I enjoy thinking about the varied nature of people and hope you do too. If you think about that video from a farm or ranch point of view it might make more sense and remember how Bubba talks about "getting ranchy". It's a lifestyle. I've lived in big cities, small towns and now have the ideal for me of a small city near the country and big city.
I don't know enough about Jeremiah to know if he's got any actual issues or not but one of the reasons I watch SWA is because they show compassionate, polite, kind people. Jeremiah has given quite a few examples of those. A lot of times compassionate people are also passionate folks - they feel the goods, the bads, the frustrations down to their core. Others seem more even keel all the time. Neither are bad or good - but you're right - a woman should be aware of the guy's personality and make sure it's a match for her. Future social life is also a consideration. That needs to match too. I suspect, but it's only an edited show, Bubba and Jeremiah differ a lot there. Paige appears to constantly try new things - Eel Pout? hunting? barrel racing? Nascar events Entertainment events? Hope I gave you a little different perspective. No way we'd ever agree on what types of guys are good for a person because I waver a lot on my preference which means I probably want someone that isn't the same every day. Today I'd enjoy having a risk taker, active soul- two weeks ago I wanted Mr. Responsibility, aggressive about getting ahead at work.

Re: Sweet Home Alabama Season 3 ~ Contestants ~ Spoilers
Thanks all y'all Jeremiah lovers for being respectful of my opinions. I realize that they don't necessarily go along with the majority of posters watching SHA this season. :shy:
Just so y'all know, I live on 5 acres in the middle of rural Kansas, surrounded by farms, with a horse in my barn and 4-wheeler in our equipment shed. The nearest town is approximately 1,000 population. I grew up in small town America, while my husband was growing up on a farm not far from where we live now. He is as rugged and country as any guy around here. Much to my chagrin, he is not a cowboy and he doesn't like to ride horses, but I didn't marry him for that anyway.
I don't know these people, except from what I've seen on my television screen. What I have observed and noticed is that Paige is an articulate, mature-acting woman who has some experience with life's ups and downs and mistakes made when we're young. She seems very comfortable in her tv situation and at least is able to act poised even if she is scared to death all the time. Jeremiah seems more tongue-tied and seemed very uncomfortable talking to Paige's friends - even to the point of rambling without answering their question. He isn't very poised for someone who has been on a musical tour (didn't he mention that to the friends?). I also am having a problem with him swinging at Big Shawn and his explanation to Paige of that action. That's wasn't very mature - I don't care where you grew up or live!
Those are a few of the differences I am seeing on my screen anyway. Relationships and marriage are hard enough without having that large of a gap in communication skills. It's really maddening to be a "communicator" (which I think Paige is) and being married to a quiet, less-articulate, and hard-to-verbalize-feelings kind of guy.
Do I wish the best for them? Sure I do! Do I hope Bubba is the next lead? Absofrickinlutely! I'll probably hate all of his women. :giggle:
