I think the timing of the cover, whether Jash actually sat down with ITW recently or the info is just pulled from other sources, has everything to do with the leadup to promoting Ben's season. If they were asked and consented to talk directly with ITW, wouldn't it have to have been with the show's blessing, or even at their request, since they are still under contract? Especially since it's a positive article which promotes the idea that the process can still "work", so that the "hopeless romantic" segment of their audience gets enthusiastic about the new season, despite the recent bad news about Ali/Roberto.

Alanna, I'm not going to start worrying about this couple pulling an "Ali" unless I hear that Ashley has decided to delay her dental internship to pursue some media related venture. I still think that was the "kiss of death" for that relationship. Right now, I have no reason not to believe that JP and Ash are still on the same page regarding their lifestyle goals.

I forgot about that, but yes, you're right. They have to get ABC's consent to give any substantive interviews, and they are also contractually bound to do any press ABC asks them to do. Obviously, People is the "official" magazine for promoting the franchise, but considering that US Weekly and Life & Style have obviously gotten exclusive information in past seasons, I'm wondering if ABC rotates that privilege, and this time it's ITW's turn. But if so, why wouldn't ITW feature Ben on the cover with Ashley and JP in the inset? I mean, anything that supports the franchise is good in the producer's eyes, but it just seems weird to me to promote Ben's season with an article featuring the woman who dumped him and is now happily engaged to someone else. I'm not necessarily sure ABC is asking them to do press as a lead-up to Ben's season. I think it's probably a leadup to something else. :whistle:

I think ash and jp did an interview and pics for intouch last week. I saw a tweet from someone doing hair for ash and jp at the interview. Why is this bad?

Then did the pics suck? :P Really, I don't get why they would do an interview with that lame mag. Why not EW?

Entertainment Weekly isn't going to sit down and do a human interest feature story on Ashley and JP unless it's in connection with something televised. Same with TV Guide. The only national mags that'd do a human interest feature story would be the weeklies from People on down to Star. And, it's one of those things where if you're somebody in the public eye, you can choose not to interview with any tabloids (which can lead to negative coverage), or you can make an attempt to control the press somewhat by granting selected interviews occasionally. It's a tough decision.

Anyway I read the In Touch article and there's no new photo shoot, no new pictures. There are quotes from Ashley and JP and I honestly can't tell if they're new or not. All the quotes are basically gushy about each other (with Ashley saying their personalities just fit with each other, how they're a boring couple who'll get home from work and sometimes have dinner with friends but is more likely to stay in and have a cozy dinner at home, JP saying how much he loves how Ashley makes a room brighter). There aren't a ton of quotes and the story is padded with speculation about what their wedding might be like. There's absolutely no new information (and there's speculation that people like Craig R, Ames, and William would be groomsmen?). It's just a nice fluffy story on the couple, with talk about what their lives are like (nothing new), the fact that there are some differences (like Ashley loving Italian food while JP stays away from carbs) but the slant is that they make it work. It doesn't seem like an official sit down interview to me but I could be wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if they took some quotes from a red carpet and then, at the urging of the B/ette people did a cover story on a franchise success story.

It's possible Archer23's right and this is a lead up to something else. But, the story reaffirms how Ashley's waiting to finish school to really start wedding planning and how she's thinking about a fall wedding. The story says the wedding's likely to be outdoors on the East Coast, maybe the Hamptons. There's a quote from Ashley about how she loved watching the Kim K wedding but at the end of the day wants something simpler.

Yes, I'm sure JP would fill up his side of the wedding party with Bachelornation peeps instead of the many real-life friends we already know about. Jeez, ITW. :giggle:

I feel vile for even looking at ITW, but I couldn't help myself while I was in the line at the Duane Reade next to my hotel. The quotes from JP and Ashley in the article definitely seem legit (and are very sweet), but I could've written that article from my living room couch. And I'm at the "quote" from Ashley's vows. Yes, I'm sure she shared something that personal and intimate with ITW, months in advance of her wedding.

I need to move up here and become a tabloid "journalist." Easiest job in the world!

ITA, Archer. Between the idea that Ashley would share her vows (which sounded incredibly trite and thought up on the spur of the moment, BTW) and that JP would have guys he only met this year be his groomsmen (and they left off Graham, who he is probably the closest with of all of them and even HE won't be a groomsmen I would bet) as opposed to, I don't know, maybe HIS BROTHER and Chris Heller, it's unlikely that JP or Ashley gave ITW any "exclusive". The writer just culled the information from other sources that were already out there.

Forgot to add earlier that I think the quotes about Ashley's dream wedding are definitely taken from old source material, as her recent quotes about the kind of wedding she wants are almost 180 degrees opposite from what the magazine says. The quotes from them about their relationship aren't ones I remember seeing previously, though, so I would assume those are from one of their recent red carpet events.
