She's the one that writes the articles for The Examiner for Bachelor/Bachelorette news and Lance Corning gives her some insider/more specific info. Like that Wed is when Ashley is finally finished with school!

I don't think that JP is taking into consideration that this show isn't set up for what it's claiming to be set up for, that's all. The show isn't set up as just a dating show. If it were, there wouldn't be any shock that it didn't work out.

I honestly don't think JP cares what kind of show it is. He never watched it before he was on and probably isn't looking too closely what it is now. His statements sound a lot like what CH spews everytime there is a break up. JP :

Just going to weigh in. I think JP was just speaking in generalizations, and NOT referencing his own personal experience with Ashley, by saying that dating never works out. The reality is that it works out a very small percentage of the time (not "never"), as we generally date many more people than we end up marrying. In his case, I assume he feels his "dating" has only worked out once (with Ashley), as all the other times, he broke up with the girl. I think what he was trying to say (and it does sound like the reporter didn't get the whole quote word for word) is that people put too high an expectation on every, or even most relationships coming out of this show, assuming they'll end in marriage, when in real life, most relationships end before marriage. Of course, as we have all said repeatedly, the problem is that most couples believing themselves "in love" do not then immediately get engaged, as they do on TB. The track record on ALL dating shows is abysmal, however, TB is the only one where the end of the relationship usually means a broken engagement as well, so somehow it seems worse.

They asked the guy for a comment; he just tried to give an honest, realistic one as opposed to spouting platitudes. But I don't think he was giving any hints about his own personal situation.

I had to read the article about three times yesterday before I could make sense of that quote, LOL. A WetPaint article cribbed from a HollywoodLife article is like a really bad game of Telephone.

I only know one person who married the first person she dated (my mom). So I very much agree with JP that in the real world, dating doesn't work out more than it works out, and in that respect, this show isn't much different from real life. Also, I rarely find myself agreeing with CH, but he's right that the show itself isn't the reason why these couples keep breaking up. Instead, it's the lack of compatibility, lack of commitment, lack of common goals, etc. -- all the same things that cause real-life couples to break up too.

It's definitely true, though, that this show does itself a disservice by not billing itself as a "dating show." If it did, it wouldn't get nearly the ridicule it does, because the track record of people who have made an honest go of things and "dated" for a substantial length of time isn't bad at all. Having the couple agree to date at the FRC isn't nearly as "romantic" as a proposal, of course. Not to mention that the handful of times there's been a "let's date" ending (other than Charlie's season), it was clear that the lead had absolutely no intention of continuing the relationship past the minute filming wrapped. And as ironcat noted, the "let's date" ending hasn't been a raging success for other reality dating shows, either.

Well, it doesn't help when the lead (yes, I'm talking about Ali) goes around saying they are different, etc. and people on this show keep supporting it for some weird reason and keep saying that they are ready to be married, etc and focus on the proposal. Makes a proposal seem meaningless to me.

Seriously, what's the point of the show? I find that us sluething and the RS spoilers are the most interesting parts of this show. I would say that without RS spilling that JP was final 1, I don't see that a lot of people would be watching the Bentley drama that the show loved to focus on.

Things run it's course, and IMO this show has run it's course.

The article didn't say that JP said the first person you date it never works out.

I would also point out that on this show, they aren't just dating. They go right into living together and I for the life of me don't get how people treat living together as dating.

I do not think JP looks at his relationship with Ashley as dating. Obviously if your living together, you have moved past dating and are starting to build a life together.

Most dating relationships don't work out and most relationships on this show don't work out. As he said, That's life.

I am finding it hard to believe Ashley really talked to them about their wedding. For one thing according to Ashley Spivey the dress has not been picked out. Knowing InTouch those quotes came from somewhere else she spoke like an event. If they were going to give details it would probably be to Us Werkly where they have friends,jmo.

Alanna, were you referring to Ash and JP or to Ben is Gay on the cover--or to all three? Just wondered who is headed toward famehoing if we see them on another cover?

Actually, what they do is get quotes from some red carpet events (prob the time where Boo got blessed) and then use those 2 quotes and make a whole article from it. I could have sworn Ashley said that she would wear a vintage type dress, right?

In fact, I recall JP said they are each other's best friend and it was at some red carpet thing.

Exactly Atem, In Touch is famous for this kind of thing. They claim Exclusives when it really quotes taken from somewhere else. if this was coming from People, I would believe it. That's usually who the people still under contract give their interviews.
