Re: Ashley and J.P - General Media Discussion - Thread #4
But it hasn't been "pushed back" if they didn't already set a date. Unlike most of us, who heard Ashley consistently saying "fall," but believed it would be sooner, you've always said that you take their statements about the wedding at face value. So if she's still saying fall, as she did in the People interview on Monday, why do you now not see it happening? She herself hasn't backtracked from having a fall wedding, so what's changed in your mind? Not attacking, just wondering.TayTaymom wrote:Well I must admit even though I did not believe they had set a date based on what they have been saying, I actually did think the best time for that would be before Ashley starts residency and not after just because it would be too much. So I guess I disagree about not setting a date until May-ish, JMO. If it is pushed back to fall I just do not see it happening at all.

Re: Ashley and J.P - General Media Discussion - Thread #4
I'll admit I was one of the people most convinced they would announce now and marry before Ashley started her residency, just because it would seem to be most convenient schedule-wise, and I honestly haven't seen anything in this couple's behavior that sounds like they are still in that "getting to know you and making sure we really will work" stage. They have been openly living their lives as a couple for over 7 months now, longer than my parents, married over 60 years now, dated before they got married. Sometimes when you know you know, and I believe these two, correctly or incorrectly, still feel exactly that way about each other.
I realize there's a tendency to want to compare Jash with Ali and Roberto. We only got the full story about them after the fact, and that was that they were having problems and "working on their relationship" for much of their 18 months together. It's no wonder that they were never ready to "pull the trigger". I'm still waiting for even one hint that anything similar is going on with Jash. So far I haven't seen it.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. My 20 something year old daughter met a wonderful man last April and they've been inseparable ever since. But if she were to claim she was ready to marry him within a year, I'd be horrified that they were moving too quickly. Regarding Ashley, I would imagine they have their hands full with getting her ready for an intensive residency program by June 1, plus moving to an unfamiliar location and settling in. To add a wedding to the equation, let alone a honeymoon and a little transition time before all those changes? To me THAT would be "too much".

Just a tiny correction, Ashley's residency starts July 1.

IF they're televising a wedding, wouldn't ABC be doing a lot of the legwork for them anyway? So maybe fall is still do-able?

People get married around tougher work schedules than Ashley and JP have all the time. I'm not putting down their jobs at all, I just don't think their work schedules are THAT big a deal.
The way I see it, they managed a crazy commute/schedule for Ashley in the fall that left no time or energy for planning. Now, there's time for planning and it seems they've started to dip their toes into it. These months before residency are a great time to start working out the stressful wedding planning stuff (which would include the TV aspect, which adds more stress) before professional stress reinserts itself into Ashley's life. They can really take the time to figure out what they want from the wedding and hash that stuff out with the network if that's the route they're going. At the same time they've also got to find a new place in Jersey (thumbs up to JP - Princeton area is exactly where I'd look!).
So, hash out the small stuff and the big stuff including a date in the coming months, move, settle in, get married, presto bingo, happy, happy, joy, joy. Seems simple to me, may it be as simple for them!
I get skepticism about couples from this show, I really do. I guess I'm not invested enough to go looking for signs of trouble when all indications point towards bubbly happy fun cute entertainment.

ABC may be finalizing arrangements but it would be done in consultation with the families and Ashley and JP would still very much have to be making decisions. There'd be extra filming going on for behind the scenes stuff, and so on and so forth. Like I said, I think involving TV actually adds more stress in the sense that you have additional agendas to serve in this process, not necessarily competing agendas but more to consider.alsoaktchr wrote:IF they're televising a wedding, wouldn't ABC be doing a lot of the legwork for them anyway? I think the input from JP and Ash could balance out the amount of work ABC would do for the wedding - booking venues, catering, flowers etc.
ABC would be doing a lot of the legwork - which is even more huge than the decision making.

What could be better than picking out everything you want for your wedding and having other people go to the trouble of making it happen? Trista was tweeting a few week ago about that very thing, referring to the producers as her "wedding planners." I wish I could be so lucky when I get married.anders wrote:I think the input from JP and Ash could balance out the amount of work ABC would do for the wedding - booking venues, catering, flowers etc.

It wasn't 'pushed back to fall' - we've been hearing for quite sometime that she wants a fall wedding - that part has always remained consistent.
Appreciate the clarification in my words and since this is how I am feeling right , I will say no more on the subject. Wish them all the best.

I never saw, heard or read anything from Ashely and/or JP that made me think they would be married before late fall of 2012 or even early 2013. Ashley has stuck to her guns with the fall, or late fall, same thing they said at their own AFRC in 2011. Fall is Sept, Oct. Nov on the yearly calendar. Never have they backtracked from late fall or early 2013, which was quoted in one interview a while ago too.
They are so logical, taking any hurdles (i.e. her residency in Philly & moving to NJ so it's easier for Ashley, yet not too much a burden for JP), in stride. They are going about this all the correct way, imo.
Posted below, she gets great benefits and time off, so her job is a moot point for getting married before it starts in July. With most of the ones doing their residencies being close to Ashley's age, I'm sure some get married, some married ones even get pregnant and it all works out and the residency programs know that when they hire them and it's no big deal.
If JP & Ashlely weren't happy and making some preliminary wedding plans, as they have said they are doing now, the TPTB would never have them on for an update, after the Bremily fiasco, Ali/Roberto breakup, and the Ben and Courtney debacle, as there would be no need to bring another couple on who isn't going to make it and get married. That's the last thing TPTB need right now.
Remember back when I posted the Molly intervew she gave late November and said no date, but ABC was working on it already and the wedding was lesss than 3 months later? In the event, if it's a televised wedding, in the fall, after BP3 airs, no announcement would be made by anyone prior to June or at the end of Emily's season or before BP3 starts maybe, all just my opinion, no facts.
ETA: agree cfck2222, Anders and Archer.
