Who thinks that this (free) trip to Mohegan Sun was the start of ABC's perqs to the couple in the contract they signed to film a wedding special? And that maybe the dance lesson (with another ABC employee, Mark Ballas) was filmed to be part of the wedding special, along with, of course, seeing them perform the finished product at their reception?

I hope so and want them to get as many perks or perqs as possible! I loved the televised weddings of Trista and Ryan, and Molly and Jason. I think all the plans are falling into place and from the looks of it, JP and Ashley are having a blast! Just so happy for them and Love all around. :Woah-hoo:

Trista and Ryan's seems so long ago and Molly and Jason's was beautiful. Her dress was gorgeous! I'm a sucker for weddings so I so hope that JP and Ashley televise theirs.

I loved Jolly's wedding, including the rain. "Follow Through" was on repeat for approximately 6 1/2 days.

me too, veg_out. When Molly came down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the rainbow was out, Jason was crying, and I just bawled my eyes out. So lovely, esp. after all the unnecessary hate they had to endure.

Just my own thought, no basis whatsoever and could be completely off base. Ashley keeps saying fall. Well fall is Sept. Oct. Nov, according to the 12 month calendar. Could they possibly have the wedding after BP3 ends - usually mid Sept, before DWTS starts. ABC could always cut BP a week short if unecessary, to fit the wedding in their fall schedule. Just a thought, since we are talking about the wedding.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Remember, they haven't tweeted the date of the wedding, the name of the venue, or any pictures of Ashley's dress, so they obviously haven't made any plans yet, since apparently they have no idea how to be coy.

In all seriousness, though, I think you're probably right! And I hope they milk ABC for all the freebies they can possibly get.

Doesn't the show contract stipulate that ABC has exclusive rights to film any part of a wedding if it happens within 2 years? So even if Ash and JP don't want ABC to actually "throw" it, ABC can still send a film crew to their private ceremony and reception, film it, and then do whatever they want with the film/photos. Under those circumstances, they'd almost be foolish not to at least make ABC pay for the whole thing as well, IMO.

Yep, and agree, Ironcat. They would be so foolish to not allow ABC to foot the entire bill. Molly's gorgeous Monique Lhuillier dress alone was $45,000. ABC does it up very well and Jolly's wedding was classy too. So was Trista and Ryan's.
Seeing that JP and Ashley seem to be the most loved of this franchise, I think that will help them with negotiations to have what they want. It's all win-win to them, imo

Also, this interview was mid November 2009, and Molly sounds almost like what Ashley is saying to the press now lol. (esp. the last two paragraphs). Molly had to know the wedding was going to be Feb 27, 2010, 3 months later, but they are under gag orders not to say it. Same with Ashley.

That's amazing the way they were able to throw Molly and Jason's wedding together in 3 short months. Those producers must be miracle workers! They must also hand out a script for how to deal with questions about the wedding. :Nod:

And just to throw it out there, I'm not completely convinced that Ashley and JP's wedding will be in the fall. I don't know anything, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were sooner.

Agreed. If she's starting a residency on July 1st, I'm not sure that she'll even be allowed to take two weeks off for a wedding and honeymoon. Are residents entitled to any vacation time?

I agree with both of you that it could be sooner. Just want trying to match up a fall wedding with the TV schedule for ABC earlier.

Molly and Jason actually got married on 2/27, but it was televised on Monday night, March 8th. Assuming TPTB must air it on a Monday night, wouldn't it would have to be scheduled before or after Emily's season is airing.

If Emily's show starts on TV in mid/late May, and doesn't end til late July/ early August, how can JP & Ashley have their wedding on TV in June or July on a Monday night? DWTS starts after Ben's season on 3/19, maybe they could do it the week after DWTS ends, which would be early May or around the date they got engaged in real time on the show. Just asking a question, and love to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

Eagle Eye, you are not dumb, it's all so confusing trying to figure it out with the TV shedule and timelines, etc.

Trista and Ryan's was considered a min-series over 3 consecutive Wed. nights, but their actual wedding was on a Saturday, 12/6/03. I doubt TPTB will do that again & TPTB have changed so much since 2003. Jolly's was aired on a Monday night, which I believe JP and Ashley's will be shown too, even though the wedding will probably also be on a Saturday. jmo

I just googled DWTS and it lasts for 10 weeks, starts 3/19. I wish we knew when Emily's bachelorette show started for sure.

I have no idea if it has to be on a Monday night, but I assume they will stay with that, but who knows? I think they'd love to have it before Emily starts to prove it can work and help remove the general viewing audience skepticism after comedy of Ben's season. jmo

I'm thinking they're gonna get married in a month that contains the letter "p." I know how random that sounds :laughingoutlou , but I have my reasons. If that's the case, I would expect an April wedding to air in May (shortly before Emily's season starts), or a September wedding to air in mid- to late-September (just before the fall season starts). Ideally, I think ABC would want to air it on a Monday, in the normal Bachelor slot, but that doesn't leave them a lot of options, between DWTS, The Bachelorette, and BP3. So I think it would most likely air on another night. ABC can be pretty flexible with its spring/summer schedule.
