Bachelorette Australia - Season 6 - Elly and Becky Miles - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I feel they're desperately clinging to relevancy to ensure they still get to go on the next BiP, knowing they're going to be fighting for places with the 2021 contestants who are going to be fresh in everyone's minds. It just looks sad IMO and I don't believe any of the hookups that'll happen with this lot are anything but PR attempts.

The whole 2020 cohort are cringeworthy IMO, Leads included.  Elly spent the weekend at some sponsored bikini boat party thing taking a plethora of selfies, looking extra plain and frumpy in comparison to the models in attendance IMO.

Not looking remotely like a Country Chick here... nor a working nurse for that matter.  Becky was also in attendance, looking and feeling (in her own words) "like a fish out of water" bless her.  It's clear which sister craves the limelight IMO.

ETA:  Correction - the whole cast are cringeworthy except Andrew, who's been holidaying on the SA coast with his parents, grew a mo and got his hair cut into a mullet. Now those are some post-show moves I can respect.  

I find them all beautiful, including Elly. But except one, none have a model figure which is being extremely thin.

I think they live the grand life, they are young and pretty. Elly and her sister are just normal girls, probably looking like all contestants for fame and glory and using their temporary moments to the best they can. Good for them. They don’t hurt anyone being young and pretty. I read somewhere that Elly wanted the bachelorette instead of paradise. Good for her. Nothing wrong to know what we want. I also read it is over with Frazer. Funny that many think it is rare to find long time love on this show, yet when they break soon after the finale, back in the real world, distance love is a challenge on top of understanding if they fit. Elly and Becky are no different from dozen leads before them... Bella has the same hate treatment as Elly. She is a bondi girl, was already an influencer. It is sad some hold grudge against her because of that. Another young and pretty who enjoy her youth and temporary fame. Who cares. Next season, all will be forgotten. anyway. I was not keen to watch locky, Elly Becky... I lost interest pretty quickly. I miss season 1 bachelor. Now it became a bit too much a battle of influencers.

Another season I didn’t watch after the first episode.... I just followed Daily mail and some posts here and there. Again, not sure why they are so hated. My hope is because it is not because they are not model material or famous.

You're absolutely right @HEA, Elly and Becky are normal girls, and IMO that's the problem.  They were just not Lead material IMO, and I think your post demonstrates that, since you didn't watch past episode 1.  

The dismal ratings suggest many other people felt the same, and the show can't survive repeated casting disasters like this year IMO.  Of course normal people deserve love and happy lives, but that doesn't mean they belong on TV.  

IMO it wasn't good TV watching Becky look uncomfortable, or Elly make a fool of herself thinking she was Hot Sh*t while the guys were trying to avoid going on dates with her. It's not good TV when the F1s look like condemned men.

TPTB are not running a dating agency for average, IMO boring girls who hold no appeal for contestants or viewers.  They're meant to be making Entertainment, and both 2020 seasons totally missed the mark, IMO.

@Bobette if I had wanted to write my thoughts down I couldn't have written them any
better than you have in your post about this show. I have been so disappointed in the last few seasons. It can't get any worse, I don't think, so hopefully next season will be better. Poor Becky I felt so bad for her. Anybody could tell she didn't want to be there doing that. Sister's love. : ( I don't think they can afford to have another bad season without them canceling the show and I really don't want that to happen because I normally enjoy watching the show.

There's nothing wrong with being normal girls. I didn't even once think about their body types, but what's important is how genuine is the lead, how smart is he/she using common sense in making decisions. Their personalities I think is what made the guys not be interested. They were just going along for the ride IMHO but not in a mature way.

I think they are really cute girls. Elly more so than Becky. Both have very nice bodies. They just didn't have the sparkle you need to be a lead. When you compare them ( and everybody does ) to Sophie, Sam and Georgia then you understand why they didn't have what it takes to being the lead of this show. Common sense and personality matters a lot more than looks and they were lacking in both. I don't even think spectacular dates would have saved this season. All JMO

I think the lack of self awareness may have been the issue especially with Elly. Perhaps her approach would've been better if she didn't think so highly of herself and just went with the flow. The guys might have been more inclined to go with it... Or have a go at it

I'm not a shallow person but with this show, I do think looks matter when it comes to casting the Lead.  Some contestants might be attracted to a sparkling personality, but they would be the minority IMO, especially these days when so many are models or PTs or influencers who's careers prioritise appearance.  Considering Bette starts with less contestants, ideally every one of them should be attracted to the Lead and be willing to "compete" for her affections.  That is, after all, the whole premise of the show.

If you don't have the looks you have to have something. Being just a fairly normal looking run of the mill influencer isn't it. Honey Badger isn't most people's aesthetic cup of tea but he's also a well known professional footballer. Elly and Becky are too ~normal and their dismal ratings prove it's not what people want. Heck that ex-Ten head said as much.

Agreed, actually. She's not classically pretty but I do think she's attractive. She was well established in her career, well spoken, put together.
