Colton Underwood & Jordan Brown - Bachelor 23 - Discussion

The more I see and read, the more I dislike him. He continues to lie and I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth. What is that song?

I read somewhere today...I think it was either Ben or Nick...who said that Colton lies about such little things not because he needs to, but because he is trying to make himself look better. He is still so obsessed about this image he is trying to project and is only making himself look worse. If he had simply been honest and straight forward about all this, people would be much more understanding. Instead, he just comes out looking like a manipulative liar working the angles.

@Sprite There are quite a few nasty remarks about the other women, and I agree that they were meant to impress Cassie. Considering that she is someone who never speaks ill of others, I’m not sure what he was thinking.

The book came out in March 2020, and it was probably written in the fall of 2019. They had been dating for almost a year, and in Colton’s mind they should probably be engaged and planning their wedding by then, so that he could go on pretending that he was straight. For obvious reasons, their romantic relationship didn’t evolve in a way that would make Cassie accept a proposal.

I think his frustration and growing desperation is shining through in the book. He even calls Cassie “The Queen of I Don’t Know” at one point. It sounded cute the first time I read it, but if the context is that he is pressuring her to get engaged it gets creepy and actually foreshadows his horrible texts from the following summer.

@Sprite I know what you mean, and I'm going to guess he's going to win it but I'm interested in seeing the others and the challenges which look brutal.

He is one of those people who always come out on top, no matter how badly they behaved. In the Bachelor world, it seems like whenever someone “finds love”, all their sins are forgiven.
I have a big problem with that.

My personal aversion aside, isn’t this going a little to fast to be healthy? He came out less than a year ago, and 18 months ago he was still desperately stalking his ex GF.

@blueblues I'm with you. Personally, I don't trust that this isn't yet another publicity stunt from a guy who loves attention. Plus he has that new show coming up.
