Bachelor 25 - Matt James - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I am one of those who believes that he could be asking the women about how they feel about race in general. Because lets be honest here, when one is in or considering of being in an interracial relationship that is a topic to discuss. There can be a lot that comes with that because you will get those looks, and stares even if in a subtle way being in an interracial relationship. I know my husband and I maybe discussed it once but that was it. I was the one and only black woman he ever dated/Married so really it was not no more deeper than that. He actually grew up in a town that was considered a racist town (Medford, OR) Luckily we have not been faced with a lot of racisim but it is something that does happen to other interracial couples.

I believe it is important for people to talk about it. This is why I see no problem with Rachael stating what she did in the preview. I mean, she could have been asked by Matt about how she felt about dating and possibly falling in love with and/or marrying someone of a different race. Even if they may edit it a bit to make it seem like she brings it up. However I am sure Matt did bring up this question to many of the women. JMO.

Her friends might be problematic, but I've seen no direct evidence that Rachael herself is racist. Maybe more oblivious.

As for her family, I wouldn't want to pre-judge. Her dad is reportedly half Central American, so there is some diversity there. Central American could mean Latin, African, indigenous, or a mix of any of those.

Abigail is going to start getting the potential Bachelorette edit. She would be highlighted every week until she leaves... She is an asset for the Bachelorette producers.. I am sure they are brainstorming cochlear friendly group dates now..

Abigail is really great. Given that the the producers have managed to pull off two Bachelor/ette seasons in isolation, planning cochlear-friendly activities would be a piece of cake.

My mother was hearing impaired, so I can relate to Abigail. My mom had troubles in group conversations and noisy places as well. She also had problems with pitches in the higher range (i.e. female voices,) so I wonder if Abigail might have some pitch issues as well.

@Amethyst  I liked her and after watching her interview with BHH and reading great comments from people that know her from middle & high school, I loved her.. She was very sweet and normal in the Bachelor Happy Hour interview.  Its not even about her disability but her person.. She is willing to be positive, sweet, loyal and respectfu.  She is also very positive..  Thats a great mindset. 

Anyway, I said the producers would milk that avenue.. I just saw Abigail's new post where she used the bachelornation hashtag and her caption is 'official'.. She is an asset..

I completely agree with you here on this. She may have problematic friends who may say certain things. At the end of the day we don't know if she does speak out to them. I myself just discovered that some of my close friends for years have some views on things that are completely opposite of mine, and a few of their postings on social media are problematic. However, Privately I have confronted them & told them how I felt about it & unfortunately had to block a few folks. This is the reason I don't consider Racheal guilty by association either, maybe she could be more self aware of those she has in her circles however, I wont cancel her out at this moment until I see more of her & after she has a chance to defend herself. JMO.

If Matt chose Racheal then hopefully they did talk about these things. JMO.

If Rachel has a problem with race, and has fallen in love with Matt, imagine the good she could do on the media circuit and interviews if she was a mature stable young lady. She can stress the importance of everyone being the the same, love is love, being kind and loving to each other. Right now, she seems like a high school teenager.

My tolerance is zero, so it's difficult for me to have any sympathy for her if she's getting trashed. My friends are not racists, if they were, they wouldn't be my friends. We would not have anything in common because I wouldn't be able to get past that, never. So, here's a young girl where the rumour's are it's not her it's her friends, yeah well it's her too IMHO.

But her friends weren't using her phone to like their picture with the confederate flag... Naaa. Zero tolerance for racist. This is 2020. Ignorance shouldn't be an excuse. there is really no excuse for keeping friends that have negative values.. 
I think we should just stick to the 'she matured' excuse... Shifting blame makes it look 10x worse especially since the said friends are her still defender on social media.. JMO

@chasus71  This is an answer to your assumption that Matt was asking the women about race.. According to his interview with BHH, he assumed that the ladies should have known he is black since he was announced months prior to that and their families should ve known too... She is, and I love that someone with such a sweet, low-key personality is the most popular contestant right now.

Lily McManus, who was Bachelorette NZ, is hearing impaired. She made it her mission to talk about it, normalize it and show her hearing aids as much as possible. It didn’t seem to cause her any problems, but as far as I remember, she was not involved in any water activities.

The difference is that she has 60% hearing, which probably means that her hearing with aids is close to perfect (you may know more about this). That is clearly not the case for Abigail.
Ironically, it might be easier to be lead than contestant. You are the center of attention, people will not forget about your disability, and you will never be left out of the conversations.

I have to admit, so far these connections are very uninspiring to me. Take nothing away from the women, but I just don’t see sparks or real romantic chemistry going on here. I see people trying to make the best of a nice situation, but no chemistry. Put people in a romantic setting and they try to “be” romantic. Even with Abigail, it seems more platonic with kissing, which is weird. I think this is why more ladies were brought in.

@luvnunity I think the women are too many and most are not being given the opportunity to cultivate anything since they arent spending time with him. It seems Matt had connections with Rachel but its being edited out..  
Moreover it's too early for any solid connection..  it was barely 1week..JMO
