It is the 31st of December in 2 days. If Angie and Carlin have not broken up by then Sportsbet got it wring and made money on tye back of negative media articles.
I watched HYBPA and I did not think Angies reaction to Carlin not reading her book (which got laughs) was bickering.
Angie has admitted she and Carlin have arguments, IMO this is her being honest and not that she is faking the relationship.
I have read the new articles which now say Angie and Carlin are as loved up as ever. This is a change from them being a sham.
IMO if they both want to cash in on their fame then good on them.

I can't blame anyone for getting in on the influencer money. no idea They can get thousands per post. They can make a really good living off it, and you have to get in on it straight away while your following is the highest after the show.

Do I wish it was like that? No. But I don't hate the players just because I hate the game. I respect their hustle. And I think that unless Instagram disappears, this is the new normal for the franchise. Fame, with relationships on the side.

As for the fan forum @Bobette I can't speak for anyone else but no matter how genuine they may be as a couple, I can't see myself as a fan of Angie.
(tbh even the couples I really like eg Becca/Garrett, Cassie/Colton, Dean/Caelynn I never feel the need to post in their fan threads)

Angie is a total hypocrite!
Also somewhat of an insult to people’s intelligence imo.
Does she really think that people are so ignorant that they don’t know of her many nasty and judgemental comments both on twitter, Gogglebox, and her description of f2 on the show.

Also an insult to all the kind people to suggest that she is kind imo.

I can’t believe she is even trying the cry baby act preaching kindness now because she doesn’t like receiving what she so happily serves out when it suits her needs. She’s become a joke and it’s all a touch off imo

Totally agree.  Thought I'd bring a few more comments over for anyone not familiar with the way Angie spoke about Bach and Bette Leads/contestants while on Gogglebox.  I don't see much kindness here.

And these are just some of her comments about Bach or Bette - she said similar judgmental things about people on other shows.

@Bobette I get it. Some people love them as a couple, some don't. Same every season. I am blah about them, but those comments you posted, IMO aren't that different from many of the things we posted here during Sophie's season...or really any season...so I give her a pass. IMO it is also similar to what some other alum...admittedly from the US show...also post. Now if she was going on people's personal SM and attacking/insulting/making fun, that would be a different story. It is snark and I am just as guilty of letting lose and as long as people continue going on the show, I will continue making fun. 🐒

I can see how her current comments can be seen as hypocritical, but she has a different perspective on the subject now. For me it is one thing to be making fun of people in a forum such as this one or my personal SM, a whole different kettle of fish to be attacking people on their own SM or having to read negative articles about oneself. She is not saying anything that I have not seen plenty of other leads say once they have been on the receiving end. I remember Rachel letting lose a few times and more recently I believe Hannah also posted something similar.

Whether she is trying to re-brand herself or not, IMO almost all of the people going on the show are too so I can't really hold her to a higher standard. That ship sailed for me a long time ago. Now I am pleasantly surprised if anyone goes back to their regular job and stays out of the spotlight. Those are my beloved unicorns. blowkiss

@Sprite ITA with the bold!  IMO "old" Angie would have been a hoot if she were posting here with us.  That's part of my disappointment with the way her season panned out and how she's carrying on post-show.

When she was announced many were skeptical but I was one defending her casting. "She'll be great!" said I, "she's funny and real and has worked in production so she won't just play along with TPTB's storylines".

WRONG.

She went from complaining that it was "so obvious" and "gross" that Sam was on Bette to get an acting gig, to literally choosing an F1 who was openly there for the exact same reason (as confirmed by his brother).

If that's not hypocrisy I don't know what is.  For the record I think this newly-invented "only kindness matters" Angie is only temporary anyway - the minute she splits with Carlin she'll go back to the snark, IMO.

@Bobette I get the disappointment if you were expecting something different, but I had no idea who she was, so to me, it shaped up pretty much like any other season. From what I have seen of late, they all do the "be kind" spiel at some point after they are on the show and people are all over them with negativity. I use Rachel as an example because she did the same and then a few years later as she had her own blog/pod cast about the show, yes, she is back to the snark. I expect no different from Angie. She would have done the same if she had picked Timm or whoever. They all do, so I can't hold her to a different standard. It is what it is.

@Sprite - Yeah maybe I expected too much by thinking this season would be any different.  But to be fair, Angie implied it would be different before she started filming.  "I'm still going to be me", "I'm a weirdo", "I'm the Inappropriate Bachelorette", "I want a funny, quirky guy" etc.

If she went in saying "I want a good looking fitness instructor/actor/model with whom I can shill various products" I would have rolled my eyes and thought OK here we go again. I'm no fan of Ali but knew exactly what to expect from her season, so it wasn't as disappointing IMO.

About above bolded : My own perception is that she did just that, she certainly was not shy in making some of her signature comments and showed us her ‘ bogan ‘ side that she seems proud of. For better or worse we saw her as real as she is, flaws and all. ( in the context of a VERY edited show nonetheless...)

And to the many comments about Carlin not fitting the ‘ witty, quirky guy ‘ she said she wanted; IMO he is just that for HER. Sure Timm was the one that WE SAW as that guy for her, in great part because that’s what his ‘ role ‘ became in the cast of characters we had in front of us, and they made sure his edit was emphasizing those qualities on screen. On the other side, Carlin spent a WHOLE DAY with Angie, early on and what we saw of that was a minuscule portion of their time that didn’t include these personality traits...but Angie said they did have some fun banter and SHE is the one that was able to gage if indeed they could laugh together. Apparently they can, it’s very obvious in the few IG post that were made when they free danced and acted silly together. You can’t fake that very much IMO.
I also don’t equate the shilling or marketing that may or may not happen on their IG as a sign of ‘REAL vs FAKE ‘ relationship. Those are two complete different issues and not mutually exclusive anyhow IMO. They can have a real genuine connection and relationship AND still take advantage of their exposure.

I also think that she gave us a glimpse of what she was looking for as she thought she did before actually being in the position to meet these men and start feeling certain emotions with them. She may not have expected or hoped that Carlin would be the one for her, and again, when you fall for someone, it’s not a controlled emotion according to a strict list. I also think that she has purposely waited and matured a bit before getting into the ’serious’ dating pool and we were witness to her ‘ new ‘ paradigm in selecting her next partner.
Who knows where this will go and how long they will be together. To me, they seem to have stayed pretty much themselves and I’d rather that they’re not forcing a certain ‘ everything is perfect’ unrealistic image of their relationship as it’s a sign that they are still in the middle of getting to know each other outside the ‘bubble’, and learning to navigate a pretty new chapter of their lives in the public eye.

All in all, I’m interested above all in the psychology of the various characters that play in front of us before and after the ‘ play’ is over. Sometimes I get sucked in and sometimes, I am surprised and other times disappointed, but I am learning to not attach too many expectations on any of these people. Learned the hard way!!! laugh out loud

@Bobette I think many of them...and I think Angie is one of these...see themselves as different/unique/above it, but in reality they just want to conform and fit in. There are very few who truly stay true to themselves and don't sell their souls to the devil (tptb). JPab and Brad I really are the only ones who come to mind and when Brad returned for Brad II, he caved. I think the ones who do the best are the ones who truly know themselves and play along, but only up to a point. Sean comes to mind for that. He played along and made fun of himself, but when it came down to it he stuck to the no sex and picked Cat who was not who most people were expecting. I would put Colton in this category also if he hadn't wanted the lead so bad and basically prostrated himself in front of tptb before he got the gig. However, once on and he realized who he wanted, I give him props for putting his foot down and going after what he wanted.

I truly think the experience is life changing for the cast, but the leads in particular. They experience the show and the manipulations involved with it during filming and the edit post show. They experience the fallout from the regular media and SM with all the positive and negative repercussions. I believe it changes many of them as a result...and often not for the positive. It is still a little early for me to see how Angie will evolve as a result.

I didn't see Timm as a particularly good match for Angie, nor would I describe him as quirky (I'd say he's a larrikin).  But he'd still tick more of her pre-show checklist than Carlin IMO.  IMO none of the guys cast were a good match for what she actually wanted, so she went with the handsome actor she felt would be easiest to play along it with while she raked in those all-important book sales.

It will certainly be interesting to see where she goes from here but I can't see her keeping this new persona up for long.  When she did that 2-day stint on Studio 10 she barely said a word and seemed to be floundering without Yvie as her sidekick or her usual snarky banter IMO.  If she's not going to say that sort of stuff anymore (now that she's "kind") she'll lose her appeal for many, IMO.

JMO

I think that there is a difference between comments made directly on a person's social media, and comments made in another forum (such as a literal forum like this one, and on a TV show like gogglebox) where that person can choose whether or not they want hear or read the comments. So there is a distinction to be made there. But Angie being holier than thou about snark when she dished out plenty of her own for years is a bit two-faced. If she coupled it with some kind of apology for the times she said outright mean things on the show (examples of which people have shared in this thread), and said she's changed as a person since then, that would also be different.

Yes, I mentioned this earlier. I like Angie and Carlin together now, I don't know if I will still like them later, but I hope so.  Admittedly, I like Carlin far more than Angie because, IMO, even though Carlin's Instagram screams 'influencer'- and that type of Instagram does not interest me at all- Carlin comes across as a really nice guy, and our common friends told me that he is a non-judgemental person, and also very humble. Accordingly, it seems that, unlike Angie, Carlin would have never made the type of comments she uttered when referring to Dave Hugues, Luke, and other people she targeted. IMO this may be partly because Carlin and Angie's families are very different. Carlin comes from a highly functional, respected, loving family. In their communities, Carlin's grandparents, parents and relatives are known to be really nice, honourable people, who are ready to support others; whereas as @Bobette and other mentioned in previous posts, in her book, Angie discloses that her family had several issues, in the past Angie's family was a toxic family (I don't know their actual dynamics). Clearly, that was out of Angie's control; hence, her experiences have shaped her and made the person she is now. Angie can still change, she is an adult and has had very unique experiences, so she needs to reflect on her past experience and her own mistakes. I think admitting that her past behaviour was wrong will show true personal growth.  I hope Carlin exerts a positive influence on her. Together they can help each other become better people. Time will tell.

As I have said, I like Angie and Carlin together because I like Carlin (my bias come from the fact that I am friends with some of his friends, who seem to love him) but this is a bit too much, IMO he needs to tone it down. There is nothing special about DW anyway! I hope he gave Angie's mum a more personal present and not just the watch. IMO Carlin is overdoing it, but that doesn't mean I don't think he is genuinely in love with Angie; I just don't think he is coming across as very smart right now.I am not saying that he is silly, what I am saying that the excessive way he is promoting his sponsors is IMO unwise and unnecessary.

You know one of the things I love about Christmas is spending hours picking the right Christmas cards for family and friends (which I still post all over the World), I also spend a lot of time picking the right ornaments that I usually attach to Christmas cards, which vary according to the person. I spend weeks choosing the right presents (whether they are big or small) for my family and friends because I want the presents to mean something special. I don't just go and pick a present to look good but I actually think of them as individuals and they appreciate that. I don't see this here. IMO, Carlin has good intentions yet Carlin seems to be more focused on advertising DW than on giving a thoughtful gift. Obviously , Angie's mum may love the watch but IMO he didn't need to post it on Instagram. Again, it is about using a filter to know what can be shared and what should be private, not every single post must have a sponsor tagged IMO
