Entire cast and crew of The Masked Singer reality TV show in isolation after coronavirus case

Production of reality TV show The Masked Singer Australia has been suspended in Melbourne after [several] crew member[s] tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the cast and crew into isolation.

The Channel 10 TV show, which pits masked celebrities against each other in a singing competition, films in Melbourne.

"Production of The Masked Singer has been immediately suspended as a result of [several] crew member[s] receiving a positive test result for COVID-19," a statement from the show's Twitter account said.

"The entire production team, including the masked singers, the host and panellists are now in self-isolation. They are all being monitored closely and are in constant contact with medical authorities."

Under Victoria's stage 4 restrictions, most news and media outlets are deemed essential services, allowing production to continue if coronavirus restrictions remain in place.

The Masked Singer has gone without a studio audience for its second season.

The show said the network was working closely with Victoria's Department of Health and Human Services to manage the infection.

"Network 10 is providing all crew with all the support and assistance possible," the statement said.

Anyone deemed to be a close contact of the infected case will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

The show is hosted by Osher Gunsberg and judges include high-profile names like Dannii Minogue and comedian Dave Hughes.

A number of famous faces have sung behind the masks, including last year's winner, Cody Simpson.

Pre-recorded replay episodes aired as scheduled on Saturday night, but it is unclear how the shutdown will affect the rest of the season.

Victoria recorded a further 182 coronavirus infections on Saturday, and 13 more deaths.

Osher Günsberg has been forced into isolation in Melbourne after The Masked Singer Australia was rocked by a coronavirus outbreak.

But Network 10 is certain Osher will be able to juggle both the production of The Masked Singer and host the much-anticipated dual Bachelorette without any issues.

A Network 10 spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday: 'The filming of The Bachelorette is not affected.'  

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia previously this month, Channel 10 confirmed Osher would be hosting the dating show on ground at the mansion in Sydney.

Osher, 46, was scheduled to return back to Sydney to continue hosting the sixth season of The Bachelorette after filming the popular singing show.

However, while filming The Masked Singer grand finale on Saturday, seven dancers reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.

One dancer came to the set ill on Friday and was told by producers to go home, the Sunday Herald Sun reported.

Another six dancers who were in close contact also reportedly tested positive.

Meanwhile, The Bachelorette commenced filming at its famous Bachelor mansion in Oxford Falls, New South Wales, last month.

Million Dollar Hot Seat is the second TV show ordered to stop production following a coronavirus outbreak on a neighbouring set that has forced the likes of Jackie 'O' Henderson and Dannii Minogue into isolation.  

The filming of Eddie McGuire's quiz show ground to a halt on Sunday at the request of the Victorian Government after seven dancers on The Masked Singer tested positive to COVID-19.

Minogue, Henderson and comedian Dave Hughes - judges on the show - along with host Osher Günsberg were among 200 people ordered to isolate until their tests results are in on Monday.  

Contact tracing is underway as authorities scramble to determine the cause of the outbreak.

Gunsberg, who also hosts 10's Bachelor franchise, must complete two weeks in isolation.

Network sources said it would not be affected as the show films several weeks in advance.

He will be required to pass medical tests in coming weeks upon returning to New South Wales, where he will commence filming for an upcoming season in Sydney.
