Simon Hermansson from Bachelor Sweden has in just a few sections become a big profile. But it was close to the adventure ending before it even started. - I fell straight into concrete and broke my back, he says.

Simon Hermansson, 29, is one of the main characters of this year's season of Swedish Bachelor. The hockey guy from Örnsköldsvik attracted a record number of applications when he was published last spring. But as late as December last year, he hovered between life and death after a workplace accident.

- It could have been really bad. I fell straight into the concrete and broke four ribs, sternum, a few toes, two vertebrae in my lumbar and got a real concussion. It became a helicopter to the SÖS, says Simon Hermansson.

The accident was considered extremely serious as Simon had previously suffered serious injuries. As a seventeen year old he broke his back for the first time.

- I drove straight into the coffin when I was playing hockey. I was in hospital for several weeks. Nobody knew how it would go, he says. 

He never really recovered from the first accident.

- I have had back pain since I was seventeen, and been on sick leave for a long time. I don't really know how to survive such, you just do, I guess, he says.

However, Simon's strong will and determination has helped him a lot - both in life at large and during the recordings of Bachelor. 

- Simon is a true fighter. Neither a broken back nor the risk of a broken heart prevent him from diving into the Bachelor adventure. He doesn't back down for anything and we really had to be on our toes to be able to catch everything on film this season, says Hans Abrahamsson, executive producer for Bachelor.
