Bachelor 24 - Peter Weber - Potential Contestants - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

Sleuth potential contestants here.

Does anyone know a timeline of when casting takes place? If filming starts in October they must have semi finals and finals coming up right? IIRC they cast before a lead is announced?

I think casting is finalized at the last minute. So it won’t be finalized until right before filming starts

What intrigues me is when the lead is switched at the last minute, so the contestants signed on expecting one person and it turns out to be another

@lovelycrumpets I think filming starts in mid-late September.  I have no official knowledge but based on past seasons, I say week of Sept 16 or 23 at the latest.  So the lead usually has pre-filming "stuff" to do and I think would be doing that by week of Sept 9 at the latest.  By this guess, I'd say no later than week of Labor Day or sooner we will know who's the lead.  All is just my speculation based on previous seasons.

According to Colton's season, filming started Sept 24. He was announced Sept 4/18.

The contestants are usually announnced early December IIRC.

Usually the cast is set before the lead is announced but there can be last minute changes after the lead is cast, such as someone was cast thinking it was Mike but decided to leave when they found out it was Peter as an example.

Or someone is let go early because of information made public via SM. Example Hannah's season.

There are times when someone is cast thinking they are going for sure, and TPTB change their mind. They do that with leads too.

They don’t know who the lead is when they sign up or the vast majority don’t. They are there for fame first love second. Imo that is true if all contestants in recent seasons.

I was thinking of the switch from Luke Pell to Nick Viall ... Luke had already hustled several gals with promises, then ABC canceled him the day before!!!! Interesting reading ...

I knew that article about casting going "back to its roots" was BS. A poster on Reddit said they know someone who's going to be on the show, and that she's a flight attendant and influencer with 20,000 followers. This is the new norm. It's remarkable how much this show has transformed in just the past year.

And speaking of the “Bachelor,” as I tweeted out a few days ago, I’m currently putting together the bios for some of the women on Peter’s season, and if you’re expecting anything different than say, oh I don’t know, the previous 23 seasons, you’re in for a rude awakening. This show can say whatever they want, and they can put out there that they’re “going back to their roots” and looking for less social media influencers and what not, but that’s all rhetoric.

Granted, I only have about 8 or 9 right now, but they all kinda look like all their past casts. Not a bad thing, because there are some really attractive women on Peter’s season. But make no mistake, these are still women who you can tell were recruited, or sent in from an agency, etc. That’s the way these shows work nowadays. When I start releasing these women closer to filming beginning, you’ll see what I mean.

Certainly none of this is shocking .... we know how this franchise operates, and they’re not going to go back to the way it was in the beginning.

I was fully expecting one or more flight attendants in Peter’s group. I spent the majority of my adult life as a flight attendant before I retired, so I can tell you that the salaries are quite low, therefore it’s not at all surprising that they would want to supplement their income by being an influencer.

Also, as a flight attendant it’s not easy to take time off, unless you are granted a leave of absence. I’m sure the company I flew for would have laughed in my face if I’d asked for time off to appear on a reality show. I don’t believe anyone serious about their airline career would risk it, therefore it may be a repeat of Lauren Bushnell’s experience. I guessed at the time that she was not going to return to her career as a flight attendant.

We already know most contestants come on this show for their 15 minutes of fame, hoping they will be noticed, hoping they will be offered a job in the entertainment industry, or hoping to make a ton of money from their IG accounts .... very, very few have returned to their original careers. It’s just the way it is these days. I much prefer the way it used to be, but sadly it never will be. IMHO ....

Bring on the craziness of another season in Bachelor Land.

A bit off topic, but still re contestants and how they are cast. My co-worker, who I introduced and got hooked on this show, has a cousin who is in the middle of the casting process for the next Bette. He was not recruited and sent his own info in. Casting people were sufficiently interested that they asked him to send them a video. They contacted him again and will be flying him to LA for interviews.

I don't want to give details just in case it blows his chances, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
