Don’t they all come with an agenda and once in the bubble some rare contestants fell in love or think they are anyway (helped pushed manipulated by the crew)?

I felt Carlin’s brother was brutally honest because like 100% of families at hometown, they know the motivation before the show but are struggling to see them totally smitten with the lead. Family cannot connect the dots from jaded contestants probably shouting singing loud and clear how this show is stupid and how they will use it for career etc .... and see them mushy in luv at hometown.

Regardless which season and where, same old same old. Some families are sweet and welcoming, others have jealous condescending nasty piece of poop like Tim’s bestie or blatantly honest unconvinced like Carlin’s brother or supportive loving siblings like Ryan’s brothers. Regardless, all families are not actors and they are ALSO heavily edited.

After reading all the spoilers, I see Angie manipulated by prods to the core, yet an ambitious girl who wants her part of the fame and glory TV/movie pie a la Sam frost. No different. Ali was the same but her cheating will never be forgiven and forgotten. Angie remains for me an insecure girl, very opinionated borderline condescending at times. I am not sure she understand compromising. Her google box success was mostly because of her bluntly sarcastic unfiltered humor. But nobody can remain this 24/7. However the way she was edited, I think she attracts viewers because they expect her unfiltered personality to show up on their telly... reality is that she is an ordinary girl looking for Prince Charming.

I am a bit sad for Ryan. And Timm. I think they were genuine in their feelings. They will bounce back no doubt, but even if Timm was manipulated tenfold by the prods. Even if Ryan came to promote his business. I think they fell for Angie. Nobody is 100% an angel and pure at heart. Still, a contestant remains human. Ryan needs a secure grownup woman and Timm needs to mature away from Jackson (good luck with that).

I, and others I watched the HTD's with, believe Carlin has genuine feelings for Angie. I also believe his acting career, which he is allowed to have, and many successful actors (Carlin not being one of them however) have been in love.
Angie cried after leaving Carlin and if she really didn't trust him she would have sent him home. I'm looking forward to seeing their final 2 dates. i want to see if TPTB show us the connection Angie and Carlin have, which makes Angie choose him.

@HEA 100% agree with your post. The reality is that if you are a contestant you have a 1 in 20 shot of ending up in Bachie love. And realistically there's a good chance you won't have chemistry or feelings for the person. So going in open to adventure, the experience, opportunities and to the possibility of love seems realistic to me. It's why Angie is on the show as well. She's looking for reasons to not trust the men she really has feelings for because she's insecure and not accustomed to allowing herself to be vulnerable. I think we tend to make heroes and villains out of the characters we're shown on the screen when really they're all just people- neither all good or all bad and with their own issues.

With Carlin's brother- well, he just watched the man struggle through whatever happened in his relationship. I have no doubt he's telling the truth when he says he's shocked Carlin seems to have genuine feelings for Angie- genuine enough to bring her home, which Javi knows means something.

Ryan- I can't really figure him out. I believe he has feelings for her. I just don't see why because they haven't shown an ounce of personality and they supposedly have a lot in common but all I know is they like rescue dogs. Timm is great but like Angie's mom said, he's not quite ready to settle down...and he's gonna need to have a boundary talk with Jackson who is way too much.

In the end, I believe she has the most feeling with Carlin. I buy they genuinely like each other at this point no matter why either went into what amounts to a social experiment. Hopefully in a 1 on 1 relationship, Angie is more comfortable letting her guard down and believing she's worthy of love (even from a guy like Carlin whom she clearly sees as too attractive and perfect to really be interested in her for no other reason than he just is).

@appiah01 we are exactly thinking alike.

Most contestants are caught in the bubble and this is why they have no social media and no connection with the outside world, no connection with their loved ones to seek clarity and emotional support...  so their emotional focus is the only girl available which with the competition and boredom put her on a fake pedestal and become the ultimate prize. Heck the reason why so many couple do not make the long termafter show when the pedestal disappear and reality check in comes up.

Angie has indeed physical insecurities. Her plastic surgery say it all. But it seems that Carlin did his lips. But imo for Carlin it was more about his acting career and how much he was pushed to do it IF he wanted a role enough etc. But then again if he was bullied and he used body building to help him, I see him also insecure enough to have his lips done... which makes me wonder how no lips he had since I see them totally normal to me now.

Somehow I do not see him as a womanizer. His marriage experience is probably a painful story but makes me wonder why is he not divorced yet? Will Angie and Carlin have a long term relationship? I doubt it but I have seen weirder couple who got engaged and married. So it is a gamble. Sadly I do not see Angie compromising and that is always a major issue... especially after show when she can access to all mags and gossips and media’s...

Ryan... I think it is way more than few flirting media social with Angie. I think they exchanged a lot before the show. They knew them very well and this translated in the game during their SD. I have no doubt that Angie would have dated Ryan if not proposed the gig. But Prince Charming happeared with Carlin... temptation appeared with Ciarran too and her crush I think faded. Great on paper blah blah blah

Timm is too immature to see how unhealthy his relationship is with Jackson. Timm also loves attention. And jackson gives him that. The day Timm will fully fall in love, then he will have to make a choice. My opinion is that Jackson has all the demeanours of a jealous boyfriend. If they started to party 10 years ago, then they were what? 15? Timm May be ready at 30 or never. Who knows?

So judging contestants because they arrive with an agenda is silly. Reproaching them to change during the show and become the top 4 favorites is also silly imo. Nobody knows how they will behave among 20 other guys competing a girl. Nobody can expect to like the lead enough and have a crush on the lead who made them think they are THE one. No contestants see the real manipulation from the crew. Everyone is naive to think they will be portray the hero and get out with a million of followers adored by the fans. They hope. they hope no dirt will get out. Most fail. But most got their fame and glory moments on tv and radio and mags...

But at the end of the day, they are all ordinary people. No stars. Just wannabes. There is no heroes and no true villains. Just a matter of how they are heavily edited to fit the shoes of the pawn in a scripted reality show based on their weaknesses traits of personality with the help of trained professional crew who mastered now how to manipulate them. It is clear for all that season 1 is completely different than today. Tricks and manipulations are different, jealousy and drama. Sadly, the way I see Aussie franchise rejoined the US franchise. I used to like much better the Australian franchise because I felt contestants were more genuine. They probably are. But the prods destroyed all kind of sweet enjoyable view because of their unnecessary dramas and over the top unrealistic contestants.

This said. I loved cirrian character. No idea if he is the same person in reality but I liked his differences and over the top personality. Timm was also a nice character on my tv. Everybody else? Boriiiiing

@HEA I've been following your unspoiled comments and felt you must have been so lonely in that thread! And appreciate all the insight you've brought to us spoiled ones now.

Carlin is not the most popular 'winner' on this show but after hometowns I believe Angie has the best chance of a relationship with him. He has learned to express his feelings and needs and Angie needs someone to lead her in that area. I do feel Carlin is still a bit wounded from all that has happened to him. I wonder if having the attention of an attractive woman made him think it was love with his first marriage. After all, as someone who was bullied, finding someone who gives you attention and makes you feel better about yourself does wonders for the ego.

I read many twitter comments about how a guy taking a girl to the gym is not romantic. In this situation, you want the lead to see you where you are happy and what you do that makes it that way. The gym it was for Carlin and the dogs did it for Ryan. I absolutely loved how Ryan's brothers had his back and really want what is best for him. He has a lovely family. I feel cheated for having all the focus on Timm's friend as his parents, too, seemed lovely. And we all knew that Jackson didn't have a chance in advancing past hometowns and Angie's visit with his family was edited to cement that idea.

I don't think Angie was harmed by the production  in any way. She brought it all on herself. I think the only guys who truly liked her are Timm and Ryan. With Ryan they are a perfect match. She would be the partner wearing pants in their relationship and Ryan is bland enough to take on her loud personality. They make sense together. She doesn't want anyone to steal the spotlight so she is drawn towards quiet, boring guys. Maybe she declares that she loves quirky, big personalities and loves to laugh but she wants a safe option...

I cannot imagine how come she thinks Carlin is "too good"? He is a bland cut-out of a "good on paper guy" unless we don't see what she sees... He does nothing to me. I am Angie's age and looking for a serious relationship as well but looks can take you only so far. You need someone to talk to and laugh with and have a shared sense of humour. What are they going to talk about? She doesn't even like to work out.

With Ryan they have dogs in common so at least they have something to talk about, a common passion and it is BIG.

Ciarran: if he really felt strongly about her, he would come back. I am sure the production would be over the moon having him back for the final drama. A great return just after hometowns? He left the bubble and was over her.

@Norcalgal I sure was, same with Matt season. I like to be challenged in a friendly way. This helps me to make up my mind. However, being unspoiled make me see the season differently without being biaised.

Carlin is for me typical contestant who came without thinking he may fall for the lead and got caught up with his feelings, mourning his previous relationship (still think he has work to do there to bury and move on, maybe his divorce will do that) and the prods probably whispering what do or say. After all that was the prods who decided to label him trainer under his name. Half lies, half truth. Never white or black but greyish.

I sense a good insecure guy. Angie May be the right strong woman he needs. In a couple, there are often a stronger personality and one more compromising submissive one. 2 strings never work long time imo.

Hometown visits... they are prepared when they register and asked where they would go and do if they arrived at hometown visits. I doubt it is a last minute decision. Gym is indeed a happy place and easy to have a crew. Maybe no other places were available. MYbe the weather didn’t permit it? I was not shocked that they went there. I wish I saw more than 2 minutes though...

@Azzurra I see where you are coming from

However, I think we are attracted to certain people as friends and some other as parters or lovers. She may love loud people to joke around because she loves to be challenged... but she may want to be with a sweet guy who will bring the sweetness and caring that she may not find with the friends. Her friends are mostly gay people so her lifestyle is not to be around straight who are often more boring IMO.

Therefore Carlin fit this scenario. Imo

Ryan was a good match but I do not think she was attracted physically. I would. Carlin is cute but does nothing to me. Ciarran is not my type but love his personality and Timm is so not my type either

Ciarran went in England I think and I read that he refused to come back although Angie and prods asked him. Mourning his nana and taking care of family even if the funerals were done without him. He was maybe not ready then. We cannot fault him for that. Few weeks may have been too short. Also maybe he is a player but he express himself that if she wants it, he is available to date. Can be BS but he said it.

No lead is naive 100%. But used as a doll. Yes. Lied. Manipulated. She is on top of the world right now as still in the center of media’s attentions.... wait 6 months and see. She will probably be an active starving Instagram user, have maybe some tv gigs... and then forgotten in a year or two. She doesn’t have the star quality to remain on top IMO. As I said, ordinary you and me people with a temporary fame and glory attempting to make a career out of this show.

@Azzurra, just a correction...Angie said she worked out for at least 20 to 30 mins a day during filming per her Body+Soul interview that she gave yesterday (link below to access the podcast). During filming she ran on the thread mill, did some weight training, some boxing and a lot of meditation. According to Angie, working out and mindfulness practice is very big for her. I am not sure where the source of  her not liking to work out came from but just wanted to state the facts from her from an interview that was released yesterday

She mentioned it even with Carlin she did nothing on their date. Plus, I think some guy mentioned it in their interview and I believe that she workouts to stay slim and fit her dresses, not because she enjoys it. Meditation is another topic and I believe she worked on herself to be "mentally and spiritually ready"

I think she was kidding around with Carlin, jmo anyways. I am not going to judge anyone’s motivation for working out, it can only benefit one regardless of the motivation per science anyways

Jackson was just looking out for Timm because he could obviously see how high maintenance and upright Angie is and therefore so wrong for Timm. Also the reason you probably can't see a gf on Insta for the past 10 years is because their profiles were scrubbed of her post-breakup which is quite common for a lot of people.
