I don't get how Tanner could say that the BIP process should be kept "pure" and for things to develop organically.  I know what his intent with that was, but how can anyone expect that to remain the way things happen there?  During his time, people had cell phones, but they did not have numbers.  Now, sliding in to DMs is too easy.  Notice how all of the past guys start following the new girls just a couple of weeks in to the season....and vice versa?
SM is making the show evolve on a rapid trajectory.  Everyone needs to adjust.

I think Tanner is talking about actually spending time with someone in a potentially romantic way before going on the show - not the past way of DM or FaceTime/phone talk or ending up at the same event and having a short chat. The first time BIP did this was with Colton and Tia. It worked as far as buzz goes so the trend may become a new subplot of ex on the beach plus let’s date more but get a free vacation and a pay cheque.

I do think fans watch whatever so future shows may continue the trend of bringing on people who have begun to date so they can continue to date for viewer entertainment. It’s a great pool to dip from because it either causes tension because of old baggage or it can guarantee a solid couple at the end. My take on what Tanner means by “pure” is getting to watch a couple meet in person for the first time and the freshness of going on a first date.

Regarding Demi, tptb wouldn’t pass up a same sex relationship just like they wouldn’t pass up the virgin Colton storyline. JMO but I believe Demi’s girlfriend showing up was a preplanned event. I’m glad this diverse storyline will play out. I think their relationship is real but also think the lead up is made for television. It is what it is and since I have no stake in the game or outcome I just see it as a way to show what a same sex relationship looks like. Jaimie (Nick’s season) was the first sexually fluid person on the show but since she wasn’t interested in any of the BIP women her sexuality had no impact on viewers. If Demi just talked about it then post-show went back to her female lover it would only be a blip show-wise. All the attention would be after the show. Tptb would be foolish to give up the ratings so here we are.
In fairness to others who have a SO back home, it’s the same thing IMO. The difference is the rare opportunity to highlight a same sex relationship. Same, same, but different.

I agree. And Christian kept breaking away from security while Jordan just walked away. Not a good situation at all.

Hopefully Nicole has learned what not to wish for. Clay handled that well

If I were dating a guy doing what Hannah is doing I'm not sure I could trust him right away. It would take some time to see if his actions met my expectations.
