As to using these techniques to get leads to pick the wrong person just for ratings ... it saddens me to say this but IMO they have done precisely that in the past. In most competition shows, a clause in the contract says the producer—not the judges—has 
the final say in who’s eliminated. The judges usually make the picks, but producers do step in occasionally and say, “This person is really good for the show; I don’t want him kicked off just yet.”

I'm looking forward to the HTDs, especially Jed's and of course MTPs to see if the families seem to have a sense of what is to come.  Of course, families are often cautious, but I'm curious if it will be shown more so now.
