The producers. The F3 don't see each other at that point but I think they knew she was going to be the F1 early on, so they focused on hitting her with doubt. Telling her he's farther along with the others.
They were too good at their jobs.

I found his family's reaction to be cold, not at all welcoming. Not really the best way to support Colton IMO. They didn't have to gush over Cassie but geez Louse smile every now and then.
