WONDERFUL! I approve.
@Sprite - quoting myself from upthread so you can get a gauge on who she is (she was rumoured to be Lead a while back but nothing was confirmed till now). She's funny and clever - sharp wit, deep thinker, TV-savvy. I think you'll like her.

Bobette wrote:GuardianAngel wrote:She's very cute. I don't know anything about her. IA @handsanitiser 29 is a good age.
@GuardianAngel, she's pretty adorable. Best known for Gogglebox which is an awesome show where a random selection of regulars (couples, families, friends) are filmed watching various TV shows, and reacting in real time. Basically it's a TV show about people watching TV - sounds weird but it's actually very entertaining.
Angie does the show with her friend Yvie and both of them were/are now on the current season of IACGMOOH. Apparently the producers of Goggle were super annoyed at the girls for going on IACGMOOH because it's a rival network and the premise of Goggle is that the people are unknown/average Aussies, not 'celebrities'.
Neither girl has been cast for the next Gogglebox season so if Angie wants to stay on TV Bachelorette might be a good option for her. On IACGMOOH she's spoken about an interest in psychology and she's got a lot of layers so I think she'd be a HUGE step up from our last female Lead, but I'd worry she may not know what she's getting into.
Gogglebox Bio:Angie and Yvie
Vivacious friends and housemates: Angie, a Production coordinator and Yvie, a nanny, met 3-years-ago when Yvie was playing Mrs Claus and Angie was playing her elf at a Christmas promotion in a shopping centre. Although there’s a 17-year age gap between the pair, they hit it off instantly and have been best friends ever since.
Living in Sydney’s inner-west, the girls have a shared living arrangement with their house mate, Tom. Tom has Down syndrome and type 1 diabetes and both Angie and Yvie support Tom by helping him integrate in to the community and get involved in daily activities and responsibilities.
Their home is vibrant and noisy thanks to the small circus of dogs they have living with them at any given time. Pomeranians, Leonardo Avocado and Oscar de la Renta are permanent fixtures in the home, but the girls’ love of animals also sees them playing foster mums to dogs in need.
Like a lot of us, the girls love grabbing some takeaway, a cheeky wine (or a Frangelico on ice if their feeling “fancy”) and settling in for a bit of telly. Critiquing shows and celebrities alike, they enjoy everything from cult series like Orange is the New Black, GIRLS and Transparent to The Bachelor Australia as well as documentaries.
Who is your TV crush?
Angie: Luke Arnold (Never Tear Us Apart mini-series)
Yvie: David Duchovny
What would your specialist subject on a TV game show be?
Angie: Celebrities, movies quotes, song lyrics and Gorillas!
Yvie: Directors of film or what famous people are married to other famous people

IACGMOOH Bio:Angie Kent
CHARITY: Mission Australia
Hands up if you will be voting couch critic Angie to do the food trials.
Angie Kent is a breakout star of Gogglebox Australia. She’s the sassy, girl next door who the public can’t get enough of.
We first fell in love with the outspoken Aussie and her best friend Yvie, during the first episode of the show, a whole eight seasons ago. Angie’s frank commentary and epic one liners soon won over a legion of fans and helped make the show an instant hit.
With a dog on her lap and a wine in her hand, Angie delivered television gold.
Angie and Yvie are soul sisters and they took on the world from their couch. Despite their 17 year age gap, it’s easy to see from their chemistry on-screen that they get on like a house on fire.
When she’s not filming, Angie is rescuing dogs and using her profile to promote #adoptdontshop and disability charities. She is also a massive supporter of all things equality.
Angie is super active across all social media channels and is looking forward to launching a number of exciting new projects in the coming months.

This confirms imo that TEN announced pre-BIP on purpose (now viewers can watch and no women on BIP can try campaign for the gig). Plus, a good way to get men to sign up.
TPTB definitely struggle to get good male contestants. Announcing now when they already picked Angie over a month ago (imo going by WB's casting call for men only whereas every previous season the Bette casting call asked for both men and women) makes sense
Comments to the post above by men I think it only proves how most men aren't going to go on this show. Not their thing (understandably so) and why TPTB have a hard time getting quality male contestants (barring Georgia's season because they struck GOLD/the lottery there! )

Glad she is liked pre-season @Sundy @Bobette The jury is out for me on celeb leads. I recall the reception for both Sophie and Nick Honey Badger being very pro pre-season and their seasons were some of the worst imo and not because of the aftermath (e.g. I loved Blake's season despite the ending).
Celeb leads remain to prove themselves as totally genuine about wanting to find someone and not solely to promote and expand on their brand. Angie will have to prove herself first. I'd rather have lower expectations for a celeb lead. Hopefully some good men on her season. Also hoping Angie breaks the pattern because currently it's every other year the lead stays with their F1 so this year would be Matt and not Angie. Will see.
Excited about sleuthing the men especially

Well at least there's a tonne of media about Angie from her time on Gogglebox (HA! suck it Ch 10, I'm about to spam a whole load of advertising for a rival network. ). She's big on mental health and has spoken about wanting to be a psychologist. She'll go DEEP with the guys, IMO.

@AllAboutLove I will shamelessly admit that sleuthing the men is also my favourite thing about the Bette season
Angie is nowhere near Nick or Sophie in terms of celebrity status. Before IACGMOOH she was only known for Gogglebox and the show stressed they only wanted "normal" people so the cast are expected to keep a low profile. I think she'll have just the right blend of TV experience without the celebrity attitude (hopefully).

She will know how the views will react as she has been doing that before on Gogglebox. I am not sure she will be herself or she will try too hard to 'act'

Re: Bachelorette Australia - Angie Kent - Season 5 - Media SM - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
Angie said out of the past Bachelors she fancied Honey Badger the most. It's going to be interesting to see what man she chooses
Her interview with 10daily today
Official announcement by Network Ten on tenplay
Her interview with 10daily today
https://10daily.com.au/entertainment/tv/a190329zcq/the-bachelorette-2019-angie-kent-will-be-the-next-bachelorette-20190329It was just six weeks ago that Angie Kent left the Jungle, and now, she's set to become Australia's next Bachelorette!
Speaking to her after she left I'm a Celeb, Angie said that she'd never do The Bachelor but said she'd definitely be keen to become Australia's Bachelorette.
We caught up with Angie ahead of the big reveal to get the scoop on everything Bachelorette, from her family's reaction to her fave of our past Bachelors!
Check it out below.
What do your family think of you going on the show? Did they give you any advice?
They're slightly concerned about what may pour out of my mouth as I do suffer from a bit of verbal diarrhoea and you can generally tell exactly what I am thinking from the look on my face, but overall they are so excited for me to potentially find a great man to share life with. Mum has been secretly (but also not so secretly) wanting me to find a solid guy for a long time, but I have always opted for living on the edge and picking up and moving around on the regular. They want grand-babies, but they can hold their horses. One step at a time!
What are you most looking forward to being The Bachelorette?
You know what, I am actually excited to date and be vulnerable, to put myself first for a change. I have generally put men at arm's length, and as much as I have loved my life and have done a lot of soul searching to get to loving where I am at, I am at that stage where I would love to share experiences with someone as crazy and excited as me!
What qualities do you have to offer a potential partner?
I am very understanding and open-minded. I am honest and I am constantly exploring myself and working on being more vulnerable. I love to laugh and tend not to take life too seriously, I'll keep you on your toes that's for sure, gotta keep life exciting and spicy!
Which of the previous Bachelors did you most fancy and why?
I would have to say I could see myself getting on with Honey Badger the most, just because he cracked me up and he seemed to share the same kind of outlook on life as I do. I have heard Tim and Sam are amazing men, and Matty seems super sweet.
Official announcement by Network Ten on tenplay
https://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/the-bachelorette/articles/australias-new-bachelorette-is-angie-kentAfter months of speculation, 10 is positively pumped to announce that Angie Kent is Australia’s next Bachelorette.
Sweet yet sassy, this 29-year-old Bachelorette is wide open to falling in love, but also isn’t afraid to tell Mr. Wrong to hit the road.
Known for being one half of the hilarious screen critic duo with Yvie Jones, Angie’s infectious smile, sharp wit and courageous attitude recently carried her far in the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
Across the series, Angie became a pillar of the jungle family, where she formed a very close bond with 2019’s King of the Jungle, Richard Reid and cemented herself as a firm fan favourite.
Now, after years of taking care of the other people (and the rescue dogs) in her life, it’s time for Angie to put matters of the heart first and take the leap into a bed of roses.
On becoming the Bachelorette, Angie said: “I’ve always been the girl who loves to make everyone laugh, but now I reckon it’s time to have someone to laugh with me, rather than at me.
“I’m at a place now where I have loads of self-love, but I’m also open to all of life’s amazing possibilities. So, if 20 or so fellas want to join me, have a laugh and potentially be my perfect partner in life and love – I say - let’s give it a red hot go!”.
Network 10 Executive Producer of The Bachelorette Australia, Hilary Innes, said: “Angie is the perfect Bachelorette. She’s genuine, funny, loveable and naturally gorgeous. I am so excited to see Angie’s love story unfold.” Hilary added.
The fifth season of The Bachelorette Australia will follow Angie as she navigates a world full of handsome suitors, cheese platters and extravagant dates all in the name of finding Mr. Right. With a Bachelorette this loveable, the competition is going to be tough.
Hosted by Osher Günsberg, The Bachelorette Australia is made for Network 10 by Warner Bros. International Television Production.
If you are looking for love and think our Bachelorette is the right girl for you apply now!

Re: Bachelorette Australia - Angie Kent - Season 5 - Media SM - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
Just rewatched a bunch of Gogglebox clips and now I really wish Yvie had been cast instead. Damn she's funny. But Angie will do. 1000% better choice than any of the former contestants on offer IMO.
@AllAboutLove you are quite right, I was pro-Sophie and pro-Badger preseason and neither season turned out well but dammit if I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment again. Bring it on!

I do absolutely believe Angie is a much much better choice than going with a BIP contestant but not sure about how she will be as a lead. @enough brings up a good point about if she will act knowing what viewers like.
Either way, you're selling me on her @Bobette (Note to self: MUST RESIST! MUST RESIST )

Re: Bachelorette Australia - Angie Kent - Season 5 - Media SM - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I like Angie, and I like that she's been announced so early so maybe some applicants will be applying specifically for her. Even though she's been on a couple of TV shows I don't consider her a proper celebrity like Sophie or Nick.
Reception to her in comment sections is a bit mixed, either people saying they love her, people saying they don't like her/are sick of her or people saying "why not cast a non celebrity", which honestly is about normal, no pick is ever going to be universally loved, and she's starting from a better position than Ali did not that that is a difficult thing to do.

Re: Bachelorette Australia - Angie Kent - Season 5 - Media SM - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
people saying "why not cast a non celebrity"
I think that is going to be a common reception especially considering Matt/BachAU is unknown and that's what audiences were wanting. Regardless of whether Angie is a full-fledged celeb (honestly I don't think any of the previous celeb leads were, certainly not even b-list) Angie is still going to be seen as a celeb lead and perception is everything.
I also think Angie may be even MORE well-known to Bach/ette audiences since she has been on two TEN network shows recently and Gogglebox is a show that many Bach/ette audiences watch too (since they talk about Bach/ette shows on that show). Even just the shows she has been on (Gogglebox and IACGMOOH) are very well-known.
As long as Angie isn't there to put on a role like Sophie did I think she will do ok. Plus a big part will be who the men are that are cast. I understand why TPTB chose a celeb for lead for Bette though, especially one in their own network.
