Channel 10 Delays The Bachelorette, So, It's Not On Tonight

If there are two things we know by now about our TV schedules, it’s The Bachelor is followed by The Bachelorette straight away, like, that’s just what happens.

But not this year.

That’s right, Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette IS NOT STARTING TONIGHT!

Instead, Channel 10 will be showing Bondi Rescue and Murial’s Wedding.

TV BlackBox has stated that the likely launch will be mid-end of October, which is when we expect to see The Amazing Race land too.

Bride and Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings will premiere next week in the Wednesday and Thursday 7:30pm timeslots. A move that Seven is hoping will capture an audience usually loyal to The Bachelor franchise.

In past years, 10 has traditionally launched a season of The Bachelorette immediately after the conclusion of The Bachelor. However, this year the network has opted to delay the dating format until much later in October.

10's decision to delay The Bachelorette comes as the network looks to put all its marketing focus on current viral hit The Masked Singer, and extend its primetime programming slate across 50 weeks of 2019.

Also please give me your thoughts on this video.  Yvie stressing Angie has always been a strong independent woman who hasn't needed a man.  And has never been in love.  

And then she says "so we'll have to wait and see if that has happened for her..." looking down and to the side.... Then they quickly change the topic to her brother, and Niranga.  

I was optimistic for Angie's season but this is some bad juju IMO.    If she was with someone would TPTB really expect them to keep it under wraps for an extra 4 weeks?

Honey Badger picked nobody, and they still aired it on schedule.
And if she broke up with her F1 soon after, then there's still no reason to delay it. Delaying it just makes the relationship even more stale and there's more chance that the ending gets widely publicly spoiled, which would surely decrease ratings. People on SM were really looking forward to the season!
And the later it airs, the more it will crossover with BiP filming, meaning we'll be seeing guys still on the show while also seeing them in Fiji!

I'm still not buying this scheduling excuse - if they had planned to push it back to late Oct there's no way they would have started tweeting Angie's promos last week IMO - this was a hasty decision made in the last 7 days IMO for reasons unclear.  

However on the topic of BiP and spoilers, what do we make of this:

Usually Bach films March/April/May and airs July/Aug/Sep, Bette films in June/July/Aug and airs in Sep/Oct, with BiP filming squashed in at the end of the year before Xmas.  If they're not filming Bach till late May that's going to throw everything out.

So maybe they're planning to film BiP after Xmas (otherwise I agree @leavers - the pap photos from Fiji are immediately going to spoil Angie's season) and air it in March (the lag time between filming and airing season 2 was way too long IMO).

That would leave Angie's season safe from BiP spoilers (even though something's BOUND to come out in the next 4 weeks IMO).  But then when would they film Bette?  The application page ALSO says it will start filming in May.  A typo maybe?  IJDK.

NOOOOO! I know some people (not here ) complain about Bach fatigue when Bette follows on immediately, and the ratings suffer for it, but I can’t help but think this doesn’t bode well. Also because they did start promotions normally part way through Matt’s season, but are now delaying for nearly a month. Something stinks IMO

Yeah it's the fact they had promos going (and I'm sure they said it was going to premiere this week) and then sudden radio silence that makes it seem dodgy.

If it had always going to be airing later, that's different.

I actually think that if they do film BiP later that's a good thing because there's way too long between filming and airing usually. But wasn't it sleuthed that channel 10 had the resort booked out at the usual time?

Good point... lemme check if those dates are magically now available...

ETA: Still showing as fully booked from Oct 14 through to Dec 14.

October 14! So soon!! Well then. Never mind betting odds, we'll just have to watch the arrivals and departures at Fiji to know who doesn't make it to the end of Angie's season then

Well if the decision was only made this week, they might still be trying to cancel and get a refund on their deposit.  

I'll check booking.com again in a few days...

On the plus side, if they did start filming then, Abbie would only have to wait 19 more sleeps to have sex with Todd.
