Well I personally don’t agree with the slightly feudal tradition of asking the father for permission, but Matt definitely had valid concerns regarding Bach engagements. He didn’t seem to have anything against them dating though.
I would rather see him talk Cassie through this than have another conversation to Colton over her head.
