The link below is from memories on The Uganda Project. Worth watching as it shows not only segments of volunteer activities with children but also how she as a volunteer lived in basic local housing while there. Eye opening.

A date night at a charity event looks to be a great fit.

Oh my gosh that made me want to jump into my laptop. I love those kids! I had a friend who did missionary work in Africa. I always sent supplies or whatever she asked for that she needed. One year she asked for bags and bags of marshmallows for roasting and the children had never experienced that. I bought the huge ones from WalMart. Upon her return she gave me pictures of the children roasting those Walmart marshmallows making smores. They have next to nothing, but they are full of love.

I'm sure it was a humbling experience for Alexis. I give huge credit to those who put themselves out there in a totally different impoverished country to make a difference.
