Bekah Martinez - Bachelor 22 - Discussion

@bleuberry She mentioned that in reddit too, in that Juliet Litman thread where they were essentially kind of shaming her for not exploring abortion as an option. And she said that she had explored every option and she and her partner had cried about all the options for days and it wasn't an easy or quick decision. I was a little surprised she was so open about it since she comes from a super religious family, but I've always appreciated her honesty. 

It's interesting that Kendall knew when she left for Paradise! Because Bekah said that it became a reality for them on Father's Day. So it probably took her a couple of weeks to made that decision. 

She did also say the video quote about him was edited and it was originally "if i have to be a good dad i will be". I think he's clearly not as excited and seems really overwhelmed, but at the same time, I think most 20-something guys would be with a surprise pregnancy.

@Aria oh, that makes more sense! I thought she was hinting at never considering that option when she said this is what she’s always wanted.

And I totally thought he was at least a decade older than her, if not late 30s, early 40s. He looks mature.

@bleuberry Haha, so did I! I thought that's why he wasn't as excited, because he was in his 30s or 40s and had either decided he didn't want to do the babies thing or had already had children with a previous partner and didn't want more. But Bekah said he's 29!

I'm actually not very convinced that this was a "surprise" pregnancy. I don't doubt that her boyfriend was surprised, but I wouldn't be shocked if Bekah knew exactly what she was doing. She loves to stir the pot when her 15 minutes start fading, and what better way to keep the spotlight on herself for the next 9 months to a year than a pregnancy and baby. She can even pull an Amanda and use the kid as clickbait for its entire childhood. **All IMO**

I couldn't disagree more. Bekah's not my favourite person but I seriously doubt she did it on purpose, especially for such a superficial reason. She's already pretty popular, could be even more popular if she dumped this guy, went on paradise and got engaged there. Plus maybe she'll make more money off the kid but kids are so freaking expensive. I know it doesn't seem to happen that much in the franchise but unwed young people get pregnant accidentally everyday. Jmo.

*edit* We are talking about bringing another human being upon this world, not accepting a controversial shilling deal that would draw massive attention. In no ways I would compare her to Amanda, she is mile ahead of having her sh together comparing to Duh; at least that's how I see it.

Just ironic, that Bekah is having a baby before Arie since he was supposedly so ready for a family of his own.

Maybe Arie is waiting till after he gets married and they will have plans when they want to start a family. JMO

IIRC, Arie wanted to find his life-partner, get married and then start a family. He's doing that.

As to marriage, per Baby Beks: "The last thing we need is to consider another commitment on top of what we're already going through." I guess that's understandable since she knew the baby-daddy for 3 months  when she found out she was pregnant.

She does have experience being a nanny, so maybe that's why some viewers think she'll be a good mom. Baby Beks even said she wouldn't encourage her child to do reality TV because, "I don't really want my child to get reported missing on a weed farm." Alrighty then...

Wasn't Arie expecting with an ex (who miscarried) before Emily's season? Not that it's a race, or makes someone better/worse. I doubt either of them are thinking about that.

I don't know what Arie has to do with this. Two totally different people, living their lives, totally different from each other not to mention miles apart in age difference and life experience.

Back to Bekah.

Marriage is not for everybody even if they have children. I have a cousin whose daughter had 2 children with her boyfriend before they even considered marriage. They did eventually marry and have child #3.

If any of you watch the upcoming season of The Amazing Race, there is a couple on there that have been together over 15 years, have 2 children and are still not married. Yet, they are totally committed to each other and their children and don't need the marriage license to show their commitment.

In Bekah's case, they are probably smart not getting married right now because of the newness of their relationship. But, I think she might have known him for awhile as I read somewhere that she met him at a place where she has been going for awhile to do rock climbing there in the LA area.

But it is her relationship and she can do what she wants.
