Watching the show you have much more data to make a judgement. You see the individual dates, group dates and private time. Edit certainly matters but evidently so does watching the good bye/break up scene.
You will certainly see it in real time, Jason saw it with Graham and commented about it the whole time Graham was there, the ladies saw it with Emily, you can definitely tell. I still like Eric but I think other things are swaying his comments, Peter is now his boy.
^^^IA. And didn't Peter himself say in Geneva to R that after seeing what was going on with other guys on other dates he wasn't sure he wanted to stay?
In Oslo , Josiah saying she really likes Bryan-- so yeah, the guys did notice something
I'm not saying at all that they weren't aware of who the front runners were. But they only see so much. I don't know how you can deny that to actually be on the 1:1's, group dates or hear Rachel's IM you see a lot more of the relationship development. Do you think if the guys on the group date actually saw the hot tub scene with Peter they wouldn't be aware that he was a front runner? And some guys talk about their dates but others don't.
And more happens too with Rachel and the guys that we never see. The night Alex was sent home why was he eliminated and not the other two guys (I can't even remember their names!!!). Rachel even said there was more to her relationship with those guys that we never saw. If Rachel was aware of what was actually happening with Lee that she didn't see she would have kicked his azz to the curb long before the 2:1 I'm pretty sure.
The edit only gives us pieces of all that happens. But I think Rachel and the guys have a much clearer picture of what what happened watching everything back. JMO.

I am glad Rachel broke the depressing toxic connection she had with Peter. Watching them with the endless push pull you are just not good enough, hidden behind I am not ready and Rachel being her most insecure self begging for affection.....made the most downer exhausting aspect of this season for me. When Rachel in her needy messy style finally broke her past patterns and left Peter for good....I was proud of Rachel. Even when Peter tried for another chance (IMO continued manipulation) to reel her back in the next day...she stood her ground and moved forward toward her own happiness and real Love IMO. I am glad Rachel learned healthy relationships don't mean you have to feel like sh*t and be filled with endless angst constantly feeling you are not good enough. Yay for Rachel for being fortunate a man like Bryan who truly Loves and accepts her unconditionally showed up for her on her season.

Would Eric go? Dean said when you enter Team Peter you have to hate Bryan. Eric may not be allowed to go and keep Peter as a friend.
As an aside, like Rhett, I frankly don't give a d***.

It's interesting because most ettes choose the one that makes them a needy mess because she's freaking out the whole time that he'll leave her or won't love her or whatnot. Rachel is the exact opposite- chose the one that was all in, which is generally the f2 in the past. All imo.
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

True except Shawn was actually all in and Kaitlyn learned that once she finally put on her big girl panties and told him what happened.

I disagree with this. Maybe JoJo felt that way about Jordan for part of her season but IMO she Knew because Jordan Showed her and Validated her that he was All In and Loved her and that he was there for her 100% Ready to Propose. I can't think of any other Ette that chose a guy who made them feel like a needy mess...... Obviously JoJo chose the right guy in spite of her concerns mid season because she and Jordan seem very happy and in Love. Fortunately Rachel broke with her past poor relationship decisions and chose the Man/Bryan who showed and validated he Loved and accepted her and was ready to Propose too. I actually think JoJo broke her previous poor relationship decisions when she chose Jordan...and the proof is shown in their happiness and loyalty.

I think that the viewers get a highly edited broad overview of things. We get to see at least some of each 1-on-1, and a bunch of conversations. But the cast members spend a significant amount of time with each other in the house with little more to do than talk to each other. They can compare impressions with each other. They room with another cast member when traveling.
So I think the impressions of the cast members, particularly those who make it past the half way point, carry a lot of weight. They do see a lot that we don't see.

I usually agree with you, but I don't on this one. I can't think of a single 'ette who did. I wouldn't put Jojo in that camp either.

Remember on Jojo's last date with Jordan, she was kinda of a mess because Jordan did not ask for father's hand in marriage. He wanted validation from her that he was the one before he will feel comfortable asking her for her hand in marriage. Because of the show's format she couldn't exactly give him that verbal validation and he had to take a leap of faith

What is everyone's assessment of Rachel?
I was excited for Rachel to be the Bachelorette before the season began. My impression was that she is good looking, well spoken, well educated, and accomplished. I thought that she was as solid a pick as the franchise ever gave us. I remembered her kerfuffle with Vanessa from Nick's season. I figured the fallout from Nick's decision after the volleyball game was a big part of that, but that built up tensions probably also played a role. IMO Vanessa was feeling rather insecure and jealous at that point, so I gave Rachel a pass on that. I was not a fan of her squad's mean girl comments about Vanessa after the season ended, but again, I gave Rachel the benefit of the doubt.
As the season wore on, I thought she was doing a very good job. I agreed with some of her decisions and disagreed with others, as is typical for me with the leads. Sometimes she seemed to have a lot of compassion (Kenny, Eric,) and sometimes a disturbing lack of it (Fred, Dean, and perhaps Will.) I liked her decisiveness in dealing with Demario, and I felt that she handled the Kenny/Lee situation as well as she possibly could.
Plus, she looked darned good doing it. Her dresses were really pretty. The eye makeup was a disaster, but that wasn't her fault.
Overall I put her in the same camp as Andi and Kaitlyn -- a strong lead with good dose of sass and snark. Now that is not my absolute favorite type of lead (Desiree was my ideal, and I also liked Jojo,) but I know that a lot of fans do like that very well indeed. So within the franchise, Rachel fit in quite well.
She said that she wanted to come out of this with an engagement, and she met her goal. As the season went on, it became apparent to me that Bryan's strong approach (despite being abhorrent to me) was right up her alley. She looks delighted with him, so it's all good. I wish them both well.
Her experience with Peter remains a mystery. There were strong feelings on both sides. I think her icy demeanor to him on ATFR was an expression of the other side, the dark side, of deep emotional engagement. She is not a woman who likes to be scorned. Andi and Kaitlyn were likewise dismissive and even mean toward their F2s. This too will pass. Nick got his day in the sun, and I believe Peter will as well. And by then, Rachel will have fully moved on.

@Amethyst I liked Rachel as a lead. She had a good combination of assertiveness and vulnerability. She's smart, sassy and stood her ground. I like her better than Andi and I've never been a big fan of Kaitlyn, and would have been more interested to see Britt in that position - so I definitely put her above those two. That said, Desiree remains my favorite 'ette and she had some real gems in her season like Chris and Drew.
