During ATFR, (and I believe this is how it was said) CH said that Rachel really cried her eyes out during the break-up with Peter. Rachel agreed and added that she literally cried her false eyelashes off. To which Peter then said, (paraphrased) "Yeah, I know. I had to look at those for 2 days. I wasn't going to clean them up."...........WHAT???? I find that comment by Peter to be so OTT odd. He noticed the eyelashes. The sight of those eyelashes caused him distress. Yet, he wasn't about to do the task of discarding the eyelashes, because...because why?....because he couldn't bear to part with this piece of Rachel? because he wasn't about to do light housekeeping? what? Why would you live in a hotel room for 2 days with a small disposable item that was in need of being disposed of, that you "had to look at for 2 days", and not take a piece of tissue and pick them up yourself? I am totally serious. Why? I am wondering, what does this small topic say, if anything, about the psychology of Peter? Seriously. Anyone?
Nope, my dear. Not weird at all. I don't think so. I commented such on the night in the episode thread myself. WTF is wrong with this guy. If it was a tampon would it have sat there for 2 days? IF it was a used tissue? If it was a ponytail holder? What is the threshold of waste product? What is the threshold of getting off your holier than thou azz and removing trash and putting it in the trash receptacle? Curious minds want to know or perhaps just weirdos like myself and Mia.
Thanks, Mia for giving me some value.
Oh...and if all else fails, couldn't he have picked up the phone and called room service for a clean up?
BTW I only wish we could have a serious discussion on this topic. But I can't even imagine that one. LOL Like would we wear latex or non latex gloves?
This is what I have been able to come up with so far:
1) The fact that Peter made that comment at ATFR is just another piece of proof that Peter is all about Peter. Here was a conversation about how Rachel was struggling and crying, and Peter goes and flips the focus back onto how HE was affected (by having to see the eyelashes for 2 days). HE was burdened by that. And for 2 whole days he was victim to this emotional trauma and nobody even bothered to clean that up-not Rachel, not the crew, not housekeeping-nobody came to help him in his time of need.
2) If a small disposable item was sitting there, and that small item was trash, and if he felt the best place for that item was to be in the trash bin, why not just pick it up with a tissue and be done with it? Is that beneath his place in life? Is that too mediocre of a move for a guy like Peter? Upon examination, this just doesn't add up. So, that leaves me with number 3...3a and 3b.....
3a) It is like in some twisted way, Peter is addicted to the drama. The drama of push-pull relationships. The drama of pursuing someone-but not fully committing. The drama of being chased-but not really wanting to be caught. Like others have eloquently stated, this was an unhealthy/toxic relationship. I don't think he is at the point in his life where he understands what is and what is not normal in a healthy relationship. I think Rachel has a history of unhealthy relationships, too, and that is why she got sucked in for as long as she did with Peter. A person who hasn't had that kind of backstory or dating history probably would have recognized the disfunction in their relationship much earlier. Rachel was able to see the light, and finally realize that love does not need to be difficult/challenging/stressful. Life is difficult/challenging/stressful at times, but it is love that makes life easier. IMO
3b) The fact that Peter chose to leave the eyelashes sitting there in his hotel room for 2 days, and looked at them for 2 days, means something. If they didn't symbolize something, then, I really hope that he would have thrown them in the trash. A grown adult person is capable of recognizing trash and discarding it. So, he did not throw them out because they symbolized something. What? Was this his way of reliving the drama of the break up over and over again-seeing them and being emotionally triggered? Was this his way reminding himself that he made Rachel cry and of self-punishing himself for hurting Rachel? He shared that odd story of his break up with his ex and his main focus seemed to be about how he left her crying and he blamed himself. So, is this some sort of deep hidden feeling of being inadequate/incapable of loving another? IMO
There HAD to be a psychological reason that he left the eyelashes there for 2 days AND they meant enough for him to comment about them at ATFR. I'll never know the real reason, but I am very curious.

@MiaHawk, Interesting observations! Maybe we'll find the reason next season when he becomes the Bachelor IMO. For now, I think RS's source might be right when they described Peter as 'basket case'
Btw Rachel was right IMO. This is indeed a 'season of firsts' atleast for me - RS and I finally agree on something.

So the f2 gets dumped by the lead because he wasn't ready to propose (& she wanted someone else) yet he's manipulative? I don't get it. I guess this happens because it takes away from the love story if it seems like the lead could possibly have been torn between her f2.
I've read a few of the articles & blogs out there and it seems like a lot of people think more positively of Peter. I don't see him as the least bit perfect and he made a hurtful comment when Rachel let him go but I also don't see him as a bad person. Just human.

I think at this point both of them are doing damage control and are hoping their version of events sticks.
So now Rachel and Bryan are liars?! Smh.
Everyone's mind is made up, no matter what others say, I highly double opinions will change, imo.
So I am just going to enjoy a love story that I see starting on tv and now continues in real life, as long as li lasts.
I totally agree, I know I saw a love story with R&B and I'm sticking to it and just waiting on the wedding.

I realize everyone’s mind is made up, and I’m not trying to change that – just giving my thoughts on Rachel, Bryan and Peter.
I admit I half-heartedly watched this season. I don’t know why – just got bored with it. I liked Rachel in the beginning, although I did feel she had a mean-girl aspect to her. I thought she did well overall until the end. I think that her feelings were much stronger for Peter than she is letting on. I don’t know if it would have changed anything if Peter was ready to propose, but I think she was more in love with the idea of being engaged rather than who it was with (jumping up and down at the proposal and saying give it to me about the ring). Why would she have cried her eyes out in that conversation with Peter? I was neutral on both Bryan and Peter, had no favorites and don’t care who she ended up with. She just seems like she is down-playing her feelings for whatever reason.
I’m all for strong, independent women. I’m also for manners, politeness and taking the high road. At the AFR when they were discussing the “mediocre” life, and Rachel did her hand waving and head swaying about “I’m living my best life” bit, my opinion of her changed. I saw that “mean girl” vibe come out. Some call it sassy, and maybe Peter deserved it, but it would have shown more class on her part to not engage. If Bryan was it all along and she was happy, she didn’t need to go there. What did it prove? Nothing was going to change. It made her look bad, IMO. And since I didn’t pay much attention this season, I have no favorites for the next Bach. I sort of wish they would surprise us like they did with Nick. Maybe someone from a different past season, or someone new all together. All JMO.

Earlier on in the piece, I just thought Peter was/is just not that into her and probably keeping up appearances for the Bach role, but as the episodes progressed (in particular the past few episodes), the final rose and the on/off camera behavior - there is just something off about him. I agree with @MiaHawk, that whole eyelash situation and the story about breaking up with the ex was bizarre and as I've said in a previous post, I actually think he may have deeper-rooted internal issues that needs to be dealt with.
I mentioned this earlier too, but it does make me wonder if he will try and seek Rachel out again at some point. I'm not sure if he is necessarily so wound up over Rachel herself but the situation/drama.

Like I have repeated myself, when she was eating up Bryan throughout the season, it backs up what she is saying now. If she was acting toward Bryan the way Peter was acting toward her, yeah then you can say she's a liar. But her actions toward Bryan speaks for itself.

To me it says a lot about Peter's head space. Little thing like that, but he makes it an issue. He had to see her fake lashes she cried off, but couldn't be bothered to pick them up. Added to this his 'mediocre' comment, him still saying, that he thinks Bryan was the default guy, his sm likes belittling Bryan, the pettiness his bff shows.. Imo Peter has issues. Insecurity, ego, f-boy issues. Jmo

Like I have concluded halfway through the season - Peter is just a weirdo IMO. All I'll say is this: I'm gonna be VERY aggravated when Peter AKA Mr. "this is too soon" suddenly is able to find love and marriage commitment as the bachelor next season.

Yes, I agree ! I think maybe Rachel would have rather take Eric to F2 but since she knew she was picking Bryan well before FRC and she knew Eric would propose she didn't want to string him along & hurt him!
IMO she knew Peter wasn't going to do it and since this IS a tv show she had to play along with the drama for TV sake !
aBC allowing Rachel to announce before season started that she was happily engaged INO changed the edit approach for ratings etc!
Bryan had her heart early on IMO
Watched this show every season and it's just how the narrative goes !
The love story was there for many of us to see with Bryan and just like every season others just see it with F 2!

This is what I have been able to come up with so far:

My thoughts. This man is an Oprah book of the month club and not in a good way. Think Gone Girl. IMO
