I believe he tried to contact her before Bryan proposed and after they (she and Peter) ended things that final night. That's what People alleged in an article a couple of days ago. He wanted her to change her mind about them being over and didn't want it to be the end or some such. He asked the producers to let him see her. And the producers went to her but... But she told the producers that she didn't want to see him and that "no" that wasn't going to happen or some such, so he was denied access to her and an opportunity to salvage their relationship.

I think I read that or something like it, in People? I'll try to find a link, I don't want to be in these streets making up stuff. Lol.

That's just part of why the Bryan is default stuff is so funny to me on top of 30303030030 other reasons. But to each their own.

The arrogance on SM and every corner of the internet are astounding and sad. I guess if someone is handsome enough and isn't as blatantly obnoxious as Josh Murray then every woman should fall on their knees and just be grateful for his attention. If Peter were less attractive I wonder how this would all play out?

Does what Rachel want even matter? She wanted a man who loved her and wanted to marry and have kids with HER. Can we blame her in a day of hookup culture and a 'let's just date for 10 years' attitude. And people are acting like Rachel hasn't done the 'wait and see' thing before. She dated a guy for 5 years thinking they'd marry. How many more of her childbearing years does she have to sacrifice just so she won't be judged as being 'desperate' by a bunch of strangers on the internet?

Everyone has sleuthed/discussed logical proof that Bryan was the F1 on the show: Adrenaline date, Watch date, her nervousness to meet his parents, her only taking Bryan to meet her friends at MTP, and her defending Bryan against her family at MTP. She's also said things about Bryan she hasn't said about any other man: 'he's too good to be true', 'he accepts me flaws and all and I've never had that before', 'he's so sincere in the way he treats me.' etc.

But it's like none of that matters. Peter was still the best choice because...because what? I saw no gentleness, thoughtfulness, no reassurances from Peter that Rachel was wonderful. So what made him Peter so special? Because he was honest about being afraid to get married? That's what is considered relationship material nowadays or is 'relationship material' no longer an important criteria to women?

But for a moment let's pretend that all of the above didn't matter and that Rachel still wanted Peter as her F1 anyway. Why didn't she accept the sacrificial proposal he offered her? Why did she tell the world that Peter straight-up lied to her in Geneva and said that if he couldn't see something serious he would leave so Rachel let him stay. He remained 'confused' about whether he could see something serious and still stayed to the end, so Peter lied. But Rachel is supposed to trust her heart to him. Are we still in the realm of reality?

SM has really taught me something about standards in the last 10 hours. No wonder there are so many side chicks, mistresses, wasted years, hookup apps, etc. And then people want to call out Bryan for being a 'player'! Why are they mad, from what I can tell everyone on twitter  and IG LOVES players. They like ambiguous statements, undefined timelines, words with no or little corresponding action. They love the Peters of the world. I've known guys who've wasted years with a woman, dumped her and then proposed to someone else within a year. When a man knows he knows.

There are no guarantees in life (Rachel and Bryan may or may not eventually break up) but when did women stop putting themselves in the best positions possible? I wish everyone's great grandmothers were around to see how little some value themselves.

@cocoasneeze Sorry for not linking in my initial post. Poor form on my part.

Here's the article in People: People Magazine

See this quote here:

...a source close to production tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Even after they filmed the breakup, he asked producers to see Rachel again.”"

Along with the blanks Rachel and Peter filled in during the ATFR divulging he tried and she said "no," to seeing him... That is why I responded the way I did.

Thanks for clearing it up, and for the link.

More push and pull. Didn't he tell her to go have a mediocre life with someone else? I'm proud of her for keeping that door shut.

But Dr. Cheeks and Regina George?! laugh out loud They are just too much. I don't buy what they are selling. May they enjoy their next 6-10 months in LA or Dallas or Miami or whatever vague non-plans they laid out schilling and being cheesey.

There seems to be this notion that any criticism of Rachel and/or Bryan = crazy obsessed Pachel fan. IMO that is not the case.

I do appreciate Bryan's ability to hold back and stay out of drama. I think she needs someone like that now that I've seen everything play out.

Also what happened to their Kimmel appearance? I know Des/Chris and Juan Pablo/Nikki weren't on, and Rachel/Bryan were there for a bit but didn't get a real sit down interview. Anyone else I'm missing from the last few years?

I don't think all the criticism is coming from Pachel fans, however I do think a lot of the criticism is due to Rachel not responding how they think she should. I don't really criticize how people respond because ultimately everyone has different triggers. I will say this Bryan is clearly the adult amongst the three.

I re watched the aftr, and I don't get how Rachel was petty. She was VERY complimentary of Peter's good qualities she saw in him, being true to himself, and I thought it was a genuine thought process, that this format of speed dating is not good for Peter, because he needs more time.

She didn't even bring up living a good life on her own, didn't CH call him out on the 'Go live mediocre life with someone else' comment, and it brought out a natural reaction from Rachel, IMO. Was she not supposed to react to his insults? She said, that watching that back brought back comments he said, and it doesn't feel good.

Someone's mentioned this before but as a viewer, the finale didn't feel satisfactory at all. I'm happy that Rachel found love but, no matter where your preference lies, the producers did all they could to make Bryan seem like a second choice. In the end, Rachel wanted a proposal (there's nothing wrong with that) coming from someone who cares for her and only one man, out of the whole group of men who came here for her, was willing to do and be that. They edited it like it she made a choice by default. They made it seem like she was in love with Peter but since he couldn't propose, she picked the one who could propose even though she wasn't in love with him.

That's the way they edited this season, and I think that's harsh for them. It's hard to root for Bryan and Rachel regardless of his personality, because their love story was eclipsed by what happened with Peter. It's nobody's fault but the producers.

For what it's worth, I strongly preferred Peter but in the end I just don't care, I'm not the one marrying him. I watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette primarily because the reward's great and the final episode is supposed to bring you that sense of 'oh, how beautiful'. I was fully expecting to embrace their couple (I knew Peter had no chance of being picked and if Rachel's in love with Bryan, that's completely fine by me) but the editing couldn't have been any less favorable for them.

I hope all three of them have come to terms with what has happened and can all be happy in their own way. What an odd, odd ending.
