Re: Bachelorette 13 - Rachel Lindsay - Episode 8 - July 17 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I am so sorry, but Peter has had a very blessed life. Just get over yourself. You went on a show about falling and love and getting engaged after 4-6 dates if you count HTD and MTP as dates, and since you wanted to be the bachelor since high school you have obviously heard about this show.
I hate the engagement to date, but it is how this show works. Is spending the night with her going to magically remove all doubt?
Listening to Peter it is all about him, has he even considered that maybe Rachel wouldn't say yes? Honestly, he will be one time I would not mind seeing the F2 get down and propose, because it wasn't just about him and his feelings.
Loved Eric tonight, if the spoiler is right I would love a season of Eric who hasn't been in love but is open to it now. Go Eric!
I loved Bryan and his adoration of Rachel. I didn't mind Bryan's mom. Should she be excited for her child to be with someone who has no desire to be part of her family? I love my husband and I don't understand any woman who feels the need to separate a man from his family. If you don't care for his relationship with his family, then perhaps he isn't the right man for you? Just as a man who asked a woman to give up her family would be considered emotionally abusive.
I admired Rachel saying she wants to be part of her man's family and him to be part of hers. Rachel gets better and better to me.
I wish Dean the best, but get some therapy. No parent is perfect, he needs to learn to forgive and move on. JMO.

I thought he looked nervous.
I think that and a little sad for his friend Dean.

Yes, I did. What's up with that?
I'm not sure what they did with the plant since they didn't show it being given as a gift to his family, but I found it ironic...Bleeding Heart...heart broken....not a good omen, IMO.

I have so much respect for Dean and what's he has overcome to be the person he is. Even though he had the financial support to help him make his way to adulthood, the sense of abandonment after his mom's death has left deep scars. Contrast that with Eric who didn't have that many advantages and had many more hurdles to overcome in his road to manhood but had the love of a big family - I don't know which path is harder. Rachel was a true fried to Dean and I do believe every word she told him - how could you not love someone like him (and Eric, too)?

Peter set himself up to be the perfect F2 with his ambivalence. I think we'll hear him say ILY and then get thrown to the curb. And I don't have a problem of him defending his actions and words on SM.

What I don't I understand is why shouldn't he stand up for himself though. If people acknowledge that hate and death threats are wrong, what makes it so displeasing that peter choose to stand up against it?. Just because many may love him, it doesn't cancel the delusional people sending threats his way.
Rachel has clapped back and been praised for standing up for herself. Dean wrote a long and thoughtful post about his dad, warning everyone to be careful about what they say, and it was praised. I loved that peter, dean and rachel are speaking out. I would even love for Bryan to speak out too about some of the the things that are being thrown his way. Just because he's not my favorite, I wouldn't condemn him for feeling some type of way because he would be justified in doing so.
Just because it's normal to receive hate, it should not be expected for someone to lie down and take it.
If it had been rachel who had posted that long message, what would the response have been?
ETA: I just wish everyone was held to the same standard when looking at this things but i guess that's like asking for pigs to fly, so I'm just gonna stay in my peter loving lane elsewhere

Did anyone catch what Peter whispered to Rachel when he collected his rose?

I do hold people to the same standard. I made fun of Ben H when he put up a similar post after slight criticism over his podcast. I just can't stand the "poor me" routine when I know that the vast majority of comments that Peter gets are something along the lines of "omg you are the greatest and most handsomest man to ever walk the earth Rachel doesn't deserve you please have my babies okay bye". He'll get a few comments questioning his feelings for Rachel or saying he's out for fame, but nothing like what Bryan or Rachel have gotten. They routinely get called the most despicable names that I can't even repeat. Peter is one of the most beloved contestants I've seen in quite some time and he has no idea of what people on social media are like to most other contestants. If he can't handle slight criticism, I just don't don't know why he signed up for this show.
And, for the record, I have no problem with contestants standing up for themselves. I just much preferred Rachel's troll reply yesterday. It was concise, witty, didn't play the victim, and made her point crystal clear. It's the victim-playing and melodrama that I cannot stand. IMO.

I haven't sat down to read through comments but for me Hate is hate is hate and whomever is receiving it is completely entitled to respond to how they feel is best. Peter mentioned that he's getting it via email as well so we may not even know the half of it. We probably won't see eye to eye on this but I truly don't think anyone should be expected to stay silent or be ridiculed for speaking up EVER, which ever way they choose. Not when society is always preaching to stand up when you see bulling.
I realize that this may be a debbie downer post and I honestly don't even know if it complies with all forum rules but we as posters should always remember that behind these contestants we analyze for entertainment, there are people with true feelings.

@FashionLover I do always remember that, which is why I never go overboard in my love or hatred for any of these contestants. I think Peter should be a little introspective then. Maybe the way he's feeling now is the way Bryan felt when Peter was liking negative comments about him? Or when Dean and Peter were mocking Bryan for being single at 37 and saying he wasn't good enough for Rachel? Everyone could stand to be a bit kinder, including Peter.
