I don't know if I am putting Vanesson on pedestal, but she's one of very few from this franchise that I would call her a role model for young girls (Des would be the other one).

I see her as an "alternative".  
Young girls follow their favs from the franchise and what V does differently than several are things like: wearing the same clothes/shoes/accessories many times over, looking beautiful for dates in (often but not always) moderately priced clothes even on special occasion outings, and most days she has lowkey make up/sometimes none.

I think she sends out the message that attraction, as in male/female, goes beyond what money can buy. And it goes both ways as she seemed to find Nick very sexy as he kissed her neck while wearing that blue plaid shirt again buttoned up to his chin    Sure, sometimes they get to wear fab clothes and go wonderful places - opportunities that are out of reach to most - but more oft than not they are just ordinary. Frugal even as someone pointed out upthread. Perhaps practical would be another qualifier.

Agree, Des is also a beauty and her lowkey style accentuates her natural attractiveness.

And don't forget that she never looks like she hasn't seen a meal in days. Vanessa is totally body goals for me. Curves for days, not skinny and a healthy, glowing look.

V also posted a story of Lonnie Chavis, the child actor who plays young Randall in This is Us. From Lonnie's IG stories, it looks like an LA Dodgers Foundation event. It's called the Blue Diamond Gala, so no wonder V is wearing blue

It looks they're attending a Private charity fundraising event/gala (with music guests: Maroon 5 and Earth, Wind, and Fire) at LA Dodgers stadium that is for the LA Dodger's Foundation. Here is the mission and impact of the foundation - specifically working to make a difference in the lives of undeserved youth in challenging neighborhoods. I love that Nick and V have continued to be involved in charity and give back to their communities
