I don't think she was. At first I thought she was joking and was gonna say 'just kidding' or something. But then she followed it up with "You're not!" and she seemed pretty serious IMO.

I think she knew exactly what she was doing. She knows she has the heads up on Bella so telling her she won't even like Vanessa was her way of making sure Bella is already skeptical of V.

No, I don't see that at all. I have a 13 year I can tell you that would just make my daughter wanna get to know that person. Not make them shy away.
