How does the boy band vs girl group dance work? Are they being judged by their group dance?

Each team gets one score and that score is added to each couple's score for their individual dance. So for example, if Nick gets a 30 on his Jive and the then he and the other guys get 35 for their Team Dance, his total score will be 65/80. The 80 comes from the fact that they're dancing twice and the highest you can get for each dance is 40.
