Rachel Lindsay - Bachelor 21 - *Sleuthing Spoilers* - #2

IMO if Nick wanted Rachel, she would have been the F1. Why would the lead chose someone they don't feel like they are or could fall in love, the love that two people would in a loving relationship. I see a fun relationship, not crazy in love from either of them IMO.

He clearly thinks highly of her, and has no problem showing that affection he has for during his media tours. I can't see Nick in her world at all. Would he move to Texas?

For me, the lead never chooses wrong. They choose who they want and if it doesn't work out, it's all lesson learned, and part of their life path. Looking back, I can't think of anyone who should have chosen their F2.

My opinion none of those relationships would have worked from what we know today and how they are all living their lives.

I don't think Andi and Nick or Des and Brooks would've worked, even if they had got together from the show. Just because Josh has been shown to be a frog after the show (IMO) doesn't mean Nick was the man for Andi, and IMO Andi definitely wasn't the woman for Nick. IMO just because we as viewers like some contestants better, doesn't mean they're the right match for the lead. JMO.

Des said she would've picked brooks. I guess maybe she could've did what Nick did and eliminated Chris @ F3 but my point remains.

imo the relationship with Rachel is a slow burn and it's only at FS that it's started to feel like both of them were taking a real leap vs. the one with Vanessa where both of them jumped head-on before really getting to know each other then its been fire and rollercoasters. in this tb environment, knowing who nick is and how emotionally cautious he's been all season, of course he picked Vanessa.

this is what I'd predicted at the beginning of the season and I still stand by it - I do think he needs this relationship with Vanessa as a necessary part of his journey at the moment if nothing else -- he needs to learn from it. imo both Nick and Rachel didn't fully open up and jump straight into their relationship with the limited time they had and for that, I would say it's both their losses. but as they say, hindsight is 20-20.

though I'm not sure if Rachel (and Vanessa) are too traditional for Nick? IMO from what we know of Nick, Rachel seems to have a LOT of attributes that Nick needs in a girl vs. the attributes he thinks he wants (i.e. Nick's list). Vanessa has 100% of the latter and maybe a couple from what he needs eg. the ability to put a fire under his butt which is very handy. Not sure I see her having many more of the attributes Nick needs in a life partner. Hopefully, he finds those attributes in his future life partner.

IMO At 36 and far from being a relationship newbie, Nick knows both what he wants and what he needs. I hope he found both of those in his F1. JMO.

I'm wondering if Rachel knows what she wants. She indicated in an interview she broke up with 2 guys, she doesn't have a type and that someone who likes sports and makes her laugh are some of the things she's interested.

Do we know anything about her past dating life?

On Nick's first date with Andi he stated that he didn't necessarily believe in soul mates - that there is just one person meant for you. He said rather, you choose to be with someone and work through stuff together, and that in itself is a romantic notion. That of all the people that you could make it work with, you are invested in and making it work with the one. I tend to agree. 

We've also seen in the past leads have strong connections with more than one individual. Ben/Lauren/JoJo, Emily/Jef/Arie, Jillian/Reid/Ed, Jason/Melissa/Molly, Des/Chris/Brooks all come to mind. And yes, I'd put Andi/Josh/Nick in this category as well. We even have TWO strong examples of leads making mistakes in judgement at first, Jason and Des, and then making lasting marriages out of their initial "second choice."

I'm not saying Nick and Andi would have made it to marriage. We'll never know. I just stand by the fact that in choosing Josh, she essentially chose her Brooks or Melissa and I maintain with Nick, she had much better odds of something lasting. I mean, it all worked out in the end. I like Nick better with Vanessa. But that doesn't mean he couldnt have made something work with Andi in an alternate reality.
