Rachel Lindsay - Bachelor 21 - *Sleuthing Spoilers* - #2

I think Rachel was his F2 but tptb wanted her for the Bachelorette and he had to let her go at f3. Vanessa was always going to be in his top two an who knows what may have happened if Rachel was not earmarked for the "historic announcement". But I for one am glad she isnt his F1 and I get to watch her pick out of 30 men. Jmo

I'm just going to go ahead and say what I've been thinking all season. I can only truly judge N/V's relationship post show, but if I go by what I'm seeing, Nick chose wrong IMO. I'm going to use his own words "I mean, she went back to what she’s used to…I mean, I don’t know how else to…I mean again…actions speak louder than words". All JMO.

Considering that I haven't even seen the end of the show, yet alone how Nick and Vanessa are doing post show, I would be hard pressed to say that he picked wrong. He picked who he thought was best for him. He would know better than I would. That applies to all the leads and not just Nick. They were there and they know what they want. My preferences have nothing to do with it.

From what I'm seeing, Nick picked exactly right. He chose the woman who he finds attractive, interesting, compassionate and who loves family as much as he does. She also seems to communicate well and challenges him. All things that he has repeatedly said he is looking for and all things that seem to be reasonable to look for in a partner.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] He said the exactly same things about Rachel to her mother and brother in law, so who knows. I think it all came down to his heart and who he thinks is the best fit for his life IMO.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Vanessa and Rachel are similar in a lot of ways so I can see why he would say that to Rachel's mom, the difference I think is that intangible it factor. For whatever reason, he has it with V, but not with R.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I'm in total agreement with you and have been thinking the same thing for awhile even knowing the "spoilers" before this season started and looking forward to his "love story" with Vanessa especially as a fellow Canadian, but Nick seems soo serious & in his head with Vanessa. With Rachel he comes across as lighter, carefree and fun. His smile/eyes seem to shine and I actually find him more attractive and I am one who NEVER got the Nick love before this season. I just didn't get " it" but I can see "it" with Rachel & even Raven. 

I've been looking for this "love story" with V but I'm just not seeing it. Maybe when she meets his family I might change my tune but until then, sorry I'm not seeing "it".

We all have certain traits in mind that we are attracted to, it's the reason Nick sees both Vanessa and Rachel attractive women, IMO. Maybe at the end it is all about esthetic (not what I believe) ... but even in that case it would still not be a wrong choice, actually it would be for Rachel if she was engaged to a guy who found someone else more "attractive". - all IMO

We don't know much about Nick's past relationships to define "what he is used to" ... because with Kaitlyn and Andi we never saw them move past the show-relationship ... in which both cases the ladies had yet to decide if they wanted to have a relationship with him ... and they chose NOT to. They didn't feel the same way for him as he felt for them, they even acted like they weren't attracted to him at the end, almost like he was a "disease" they fortunately got rid of with some Aspirin-C, JMO. Vanessa reciprocates -IMO- She has stayed (as Andi "jokingly" asked) She has allegedly chosen to move past the show and actually date him in real life. So I see no wrong in his decision, following his heart, JMO.

He chose who was best for him, but I have no doubt in my mind that Rachel was meant to be F2. He just seems so comfortable around her more than Raven and Vanessa IMO. I agree with a lot of comments on the videos I watch including Kristina Zias from afterbuzz... he just seems very happy, joyful and glowy with Rach. I do feel like he seems more serious with Vanessa and he is dealing with all the uncomfortable questions with Vanessa now. He and V were never really in the honeymoon phase during the show JMO, they just seem to be already a couple figuring things out which is a great thing but I won't lie if I was totally unspoiled and knew absolutely nothing, the way my mind works I would have bet 100% he was going to choose Rachel.

Tptb are very good at setting up the edit to lead the viewers where they want them to go. From the beginning, their storybook was 'would Nick find someone who could love him back, someone who would choose him too, or would he end up alone and heartbroken once again?'

Looking behind the curtain they erect is what makes this site enjoyable to me.

The edit of the show of course highlights how wonderful Rachel is, to push her own season as the lead. I'm not saying she's not wonderful and great, I think she is. IMO had she been the F1, she would've gotten less favourable edit, and there would be same doubt about Nick making a mistake picking her. Imo.

This. They would have put more emphasis on her not letting her guard down, not letting him in, his questioning their relationship, the black/white thing would have been hammered even more than what we saw, they would have shown more of the family's skepticism, etc. and yeah some would be saying, "I just don't know if she's the best person for him or if they'll last, etc."

All these seasons of the show, we should all know by now how predictable the producers and editors are. As you said, Rachel is being set up for the next lead, of course we're seeing the fairytale of her and Nick and the set up for her big heartbreak after finally opening up to him. Because we'll have to hear about that for the entire premiere of her season.

That's why I always say the post-season is what truly tells the tale about a couple. I agree with others that I won't judge that Nick, who I assume knows his own heart and I would especially hope so at 36, made the wrong choice based off a few hours of highly edited footage meant to sell whatever storyboard the producers want.
