This was a cool read!  Yikes to #23!!

This article was really helpful in understanding and getting to know Nick.  It sounds like his upbringing was very traditional, so I am thinking about what he will mean when he says, "i'm not traditional at all."  Now that he is on the other side of 35 in years and is from a very large family, do you think he could be talking about wanting to have children before he is married?  It seems to be very common in Europe and Hollywood.

I think it depends what he means with "tradition" and what "we" might understand. Notarose wrote it beautifully in Vanessa's thread (on 1st page). Also I don't find Nick's family "traditional" already with the number of kids and their ages ... and what appears "their freedom" to do what each of them wants to do or finds most joy/satisfaction in. It feels like Nick's parents really offered each of them a chance to develop their talents/skills and find love/passion for something, without trying to pave them the way (and my guess, there was no commodity to do it in the 1st place, with time and financial aspect of having to raise 11 offspring) - IMO . So maybe part of that has to do with the number. (I know my parents having only me were a bit more controlling and wanted to guide me what they perceived was a "right" and "best" way to live life, because I was the "precious" one) In Viall family each "kid" seems to be following own path and the parents are open-minded, caring and supportive, JMO.

About Nick's artistic aspirations
IMO in North American culture artistic aspirations in youth are often considered to be future hobbies or admired as an area of interest/talent or considered a "side project" more than encouraged as a future profession or the main source of future income. Of course there are exceptions however I think athletes hold high status where artists are on a different level. This is reversed in some other countries.

About portraits
Vanessa was also tagged by another artist on IG who did a portrait of her.  He is a graphic novelist.
Oh, and Nick has been tagged by a Toronto artist who did a glitter portrait of him.

I remember the days after MeAndi, our voices were loud but the number was small. His one single thread continued to chug along with so much heart, so much love. What a journey.

Yes we were a small group but never gave up on our guy Nick. We all knew and admired a very unique, loving, honest , and gorgeous man. It is finally his time we have been waiting on that he finally has found his soul mate. Can't wait to follow his journey after this show has ended.
