I don't really know if Rachel would have been a better match for him, although I'll admit I was rooting for her as I just think she would have been really good for him. Vanessa might be perfect for him - honestly, I really don't have any strong feelings about any of the women yet; I just don't want to overhype her or criticize all of the other women just to justify any potential unpopularity. I do get the sense from the promos and her SM activity that she's a lot like Kaitlyn, down to her being oversensitive, so that's part of the reason I believe there might be issues there. IMO.

Why do you think she is a lot like Kaitlyn? Personally I don't see it. Also, the oversensitive bit. Are you are thinking that because she deleted a couple of posts she is oversensitive like Kaitlyn? IMO Kaitlyn would sooner be rude and tell people off rather than just simply deleting a post and moving on.

As for the promos, there were mere seconds of Vanessa. Hard for me to form any opinion from that. Admittedly there is a little more on her IG which is the only SM of hers that I checked out briefly, but even there I see nothing at all that reminds me of Kaitlyn. If anything, she seems like a nice, normal woman...definitely not like Kaitlyn. What am I missing?

Kaitlyn...really? Vanessa reminds you of Kaitlyn based on the promos and her social media? I am really genuinely curious what that similarity is based on. Because of her deleting two Instagram posts, which you believe suggests she's too sensitive? That brings to mind Kaitlyn whose social media was peppered with her boozing and heavy partying?

And I can't speak for others but the issue for me with Kaitlyn isn't simply her inability to accept any criticism but that she can dish it out but can't take it. In other words, she always put forth this persona of keeping it real, this almost badass, she's supposedly so funny and clever yet the slightest criticism and she gets defensive. That's what's annoying about Kaitlyn, in my opinion.

Also, while I won't deny some seem to have these high expectations for Vanessa, the same can be said for Rachel. Many have been declaring her the next Bachelorette the second it was hinted she goes far and later when RS confirmed she got the FIR. For a number of weeks, she was the most talked about contestant considering the season was almost done before anyone could even identify Vanessa.

For most of the filming she was some mystery woman on a 1 on 1 date that Life & Style published some pictures of. Yeah people were fascinated because she was such a mystery and the pictures in the magazine were adorable. But for weeks there was no opinion on Vanessa. But of course her being spoiled as the F1 would change that.

And some might not agree but I do think the over enthusiasm if you will is because she seemingly does not fit the mold many who now see Nick as only fame whore Nick, expected him to pick.

I have always maintained that we don't know enough yet to judge any of these women and I can certainly understand finding the hype for a contestant tedious but I don't think nitpicking to find something negative is fair either. As I have said, far as I can see, Vanessa has done nothing other than go back home and spend time with her family and loved ones. There's been no over the top self promotion, etc.

I agree. Definitely not getting a Kaitlyn defensive vibe from Vanessa at all from her SM IMO. There is no way to really know what exact reasoning went behind her deciding to remove a couple postings. To be like Kaitlyn she would have commented something defensively towards the person(s). As for not being the most liked in the house, if even true, who cares? As Nick has commented, he wasn't looking to pick a woman just because she was the most popular girl in the house or well liked just for the sake of doing so. FWIW the SM I see of Vanessa so far in the real world depicts somebody who IMO would be very likeable/kind/compassionate.

I can speak to my own preference for Vanessa. It's the little things giggling

Her IG pic of her grandpa peeling an apple for her and her caption about never being too old for grandpa to do this. IMO, it shows sincere sentimentality and a recognition of tender moments.
And her IG vid of her brother cooking something for her when she has a cold. She gradually slips into view looking rather comical but the vid is again an act of appreciation. No "poor me, I have cold".
It really is that simple. I like her a lot for the little things she chose to share. It's something I can relate to. The idea of recording moments that will become precious memories; placing important on them in the present. I like what she thinks matters. I like the absence of materialism.

No doubt every girl/woman on the show has her merits. I've never advocated building someone up by using the bodies of others to create a staircase. I could list things I think are positive about many of the girls even though, as many have stated, we have minimal info but so far Vanessa is the one that stands out to me. Once the show begins I might feel someone else could a better match for Nick based on their onscreen interaction but thus far I only know there was no shortage of passion in that yacht kissing scene and that the fun loving aspect of her personality is something his mom Mary mentioned as something she likes to see brought out in Nick.

I suspect I will still appreciate her even if she isn't the F1. And I don't think, if he chooses someone else, that the sky will fall. The whole point is for Nick, as with any lead, to hopefully love and be loved in the final scene.

Well, I really like kaitlyn, so I wasn't really referring to the drinking aspect, but her general goofiness/sense of humor, closeness with her family, and sensitive side of her. Never said they were carbon copies. Kaitlyn was one of the popular girls in the house on Chris's season, so they're definitely not the same in that regard, plus Kaitlyn is more wild and aggressive and funny and all that. Maybe it's nitpicking, but just based on how tame the criticism was on those posts, I do think she's sensitive or afraid of confrontation or whatever. Just surprised me a bit. No strong opinions about her, just surprised by all the hype surrounding her when she just seems so regular to me so far. IMO.

Hi "forum" ... lovely to read you as always (and I've been reading it all incognito for a while, since I've come to conclusion that I'm mostly wrong when it comes to predicting the course of this show) ... but my 2cents

:

sensitive isn't the same as sensible
and not liking a confrontation isn't the same as being afraid of it
or not taking well the criticism as opposed to not liking to justify own actions while considering them righteous or fair
... many traits Libras have (both Nick28 and Vanessa30):
Strengths: Cooperative,diplomatic, gracious, fair-minded, social
Weaknesses: Indecisive, avoids confrontations, will carry a grudge, self-pity
Likes: Harmony, gentleness, sharing with others, the outdoors
Dislikes: Violence, injustice, loudmouths, conformity

ETA: NR - I agree. Vanessa (from what I've been able to read so far) reminds me of Nick 1.0 season ... when he (only) befriended JJ (and Brian) and was mostly just "playing his own game" ... and I liked that guy!

I don't like negative things on MY personal FB pages. Not only would they be deleted, they would be unfollowed, unfriended and checked to make sure my privacies were upgraded. Perfect strangers start confronting each other regarding their idea vs the other. Who needs that? Eh off with their heads. Wanna fight and disagree on a light social media page then they can do it on their own and not mine. I have better things to do and see. IMO.
I am wondering if she has to keep pages open per TPTB to help the show and keep her name out there.

This. Plus isn't Vanessa one of the few whose Twitter account is still private? That suggests to me someone who doesn't want any and all following her and commenting on her account. I have no issues with that because I'm like that. I only recently started making my accounts public and every few weeks I waver back and forth about whether to make them private again. And I haven't been on a reality show.

I actually saw some of the situation with the individual, after she posted the image about how critical society is of women (which is true by the way. Hell in a way Vanessa is being judged somewhat negatively because others are hyping her, which is really not her fault or has anything to do with her really) and to be honest the person came across a little antagonistic. He (I assume it was a man but I may be wrong) wasn't just critical of the statement but then seemed a little aggressive in response to other posters who responded. Now yes, I guess she could have just blocked or deleted his comments but maybe she just thought it better to delete the entire post because it wasn't worth the hassle.

Derek Hough deleted an entire post, wishing a former celebrity partner of his Happy Birthday because the comments got vicious between those who "shipped" him and her and those who support him and his current girlfriend. It was a lot of name-calling and putting down of both women and yeah maybe he could have called out some posters, deleted a few or whatever but instead he just deleted the entire post. And that was really kind of sucky because it was a simple sweet birthday message to someone. Sometimes a person may feel like it's easier to just avoid the drama all together.

Well said, Happy (Clapping)! I also liked that guy - and he wasn't at all popular, but I thought he was genuine. Genuine is how I see Vanessa right now. I am not yet a fan of hers, but she has my respect and hoping like Nick, no matter what happens in the future I could stay loyal to her.
