Re: Ashley and J.P - General Media Discussion - Thread #3
Yes, I enjoyed it too! some things that sorta surprised me to learn:
-- Up until a week before he was to leave for the show, he was in doubt whether he wanted to go through with it.
-- Wasn't sure he'd have a job when he came back, his employers were skeptical.. didn't tell co-workers where he was going
-- His new fame has not opened any doors (alittle surprised?)
-- J Companies only employs 12 -15, downsized by 70% in 4 yrs. Ouch!
Sounds like this retail development is his sole project currently.

I'm glad that JP's getting interviewed about his job/career for once. It used to bug me that while the show was airing, he would get referred to (and sometimes condescendingly) in both the media and by viewers as just a "construction worker" (not that there's anything wrong with that!, tm Seinfeld), when he was obviously so much more. He was probably one of the most intelligent, articulate and educated guys on Ashley's season (or any season, IMO).
I do think he must be extremely well thought of by his bosses (who we also must salute for giving him the Cupcake moniker!)

I agree, ironcat. Ben somehow became a millionaire winery owner who lives on a vineyard in Sonoma (WTF? Did people not pay any attention to the show at all??) and poor JP was just a blue-collar labourer. That small detail about, you know, his Master's degree from NYU was conveniently overlooked. Definitely intelligent, definitely educated and SO articulate. Never once did he say "Ashley and I's relationship," and I love him for it. :awesome:ironcat wrote:I'm glad that JP's getting interviewed about his job/career for once. Have I told you lately that I love you? :giggle: I must admit to judging these contestants a little too much on their bad grammar, but it was absolutely refreshing to hear JP consistently form full sentences correctly for a change. And speaking of his education, don't overlook his Bachelors degree from U. of Michigan, which is also a top school. Short of Ames, and Ashley herself, I suspect his academic credentials were better than any of the rest last season.
Unfortunately, Ben was guilty of using the dreaded "I's" a couple of times; I hope we won't be hearing it repeatedly on his own season. :vomit:

Love this article! Intelligent and Gorgeous, what a guy.
And I love the picture with it:
J.P. Rosenbaum and a rendering of the Gallery at Westbury Plaza
ETA ~ "Owner's Representative Role, means JP is top of the line for this company, and someone they are proud to have represent the Owner. Only a very intelligent, great negotiator, and good with people person has that capacity and is respected by the company.

We have two people working on the project, myself and Allan Brot, who's the principal of our company, taking an owner's representative role. I'm on site once or twice a week liasing between consultants, construction and the owners.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Doesn't anyone, especially a person in the media, use spell check anymore?

I'm a total grammar nazi and I, too, am guilty of judging people by their use (or misuse) of the English language. I just about fell over during Ashley and JP's first 1-on-1 date when he said in a PI, "Tonight is about Ashley and me." He totally had me then. I could spend all day listening to the perfectly constructed sentences in his and Ames' talking heads. (Yes, I'm weird. And somewhat shallow.)
And Ben was definitely an "Ashley and I's" guy. I'm fully expecting to hear it many, many times on his season. New drinking game, perhaps? :laughingoutlou

Alright, let's not get too crazy here, he said "tonight is about me and Ashley," not "Ashley and me." Come on now, no man is perfect, although he's as close to Just Perfact as we're ever going to get. :27:
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.
