The only former Bachelor contestant I can think of who would know that info firsthand is Ashley Spivey. And she would only speak to the tabloids if Ash and ABC gave her the ok to do so.

IIRC - ABC has full control over contestants and leads for a set amount of time as well. So Ash and JP likely are not allowed to comment in any way as to these rumours - at least not through any media outlet without permission from ABC. It could be a case where this rumour/story was just released yesterday and the 'can we comment/what should we say/do' hasn't been worked out yet..?

I don't imagine they're exactly in a rush to get married anyway. She went from Brad's season to her own season, to being engaged, to finishing up her schooling all within a year - I can imagine they're just happy to be together.

The benefits of waiting until after the 2nd year to gain control of how your wedding will/will not be aired are more huge. Selling rights to your story, pre-wedding activities, and the actual wedding pictures itself to a tabloid magazine will yield more than a nice start to your married life.

I'll bet that Ash/JP wll head for a private island beach wedding - and sell enough of their pictures/story to cover their expenses and up the ante on the kind of apartment they can afford in NYC.

I'll also bet that Ali/Roberto are waiting for the same control once their 2 year wedding clause comes to an end.

I don't know. Ashley and JP really don't strike me as the type who are looking to make a big payday by selling media rights in their wedding to the tabloids. And, although you can never be too rich, I think the past couple of months have shown that finances aren't an issue for them. I just don't see them looking to cash in that way.

Catching up, great posts. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not worried in the least about them. JP is a master negotiator, and why he is so successful in his job too. He's a very smart guy and Ashley is also very intelligent. They will do the best thing for them and their future.

Luckily, TPTB producers, including Millsy, who I think is highest in rank, even over Fleiss, loves JP and Ashley. And Cassie is a Senior Producer and adores them, as does Elan. I think it will all be good for all concerned.

A TV wedding is huge in non-compensatory comp'd stuff, gown, jewels, cake, flowers, venue, food, you name it, it's all paid for, plus JP & Ashely get $10,000/hr. to televise the wedding.

Win Win for JP & Ashley ~ jmo

Just saw this article in US Weekly about Ali & Roberto.. I hope there's not trouble in paradise for these two but maybe could partly explain why ABC wants to get JP & Ash married off asap!

After Trista/Ryan, the contract was amended to put a cap on what the couple could get paid for a televised wedding. I still think that the figure can be negotiated, based on how much the producers want to air it. I remember hearing that even Jason and Molly, who were NOT all that popular at the time they got married, negotiated for more $$$. But for sure, the days of the million dollar payout, or anything remotely close, are long gone.

Woah, never saw that one coming. Taking with a big grain of salt. However, consdering the timeline of Jason and Molly's wedding, Ali/Roberto getting married end of Feb. and televising it early March, after Ben's AFRC, will be on time still. If it's not happening then, I'm confused. They seem very happy in their latest pictures.

Oops, sorry, guess this should be in Ali/Roberto thread and not JP & Ashley's. :missspeak:

I don't know what to make of the US article, because there goes the unnamed source crap again. Rolling Eyes

I think that even Ali said that they can have some bad fights, but I think they can work it out and I don't think Ali would go with Roberto and support him at his job, if they didn't want to make it work.

Usually when this sort of "report" comes out, there have been rumors or little red flags coming out previously, but other than the postponed wedding, which was accompanied by a credible reason why (Ali hobbling around weeks before we learned about the scrapped July nuptials was proof to me it wasn't a hastily concocted "cover"), I don't recall hearing any stories or hints alluding to any trouble in paradise with this couple for quite a while now. Nor has the couple's behavior given the slightest indication that something was wrong. I will wait to see if we hear about a little more "smoke" from another source before giving this tidbit much credence.

There hasn't been a Bachelor franchise "breakup" or even speculation about a pending one, since Brad and Emily parted ways officially in June. Usually, the tabs get one to exploit every few months. Maybe US got tired of waiting and decided to start something.
