Bereavement - Discussion Empty Bereavement - Discussion

Post by GuardianAngel Tue Aug 28, 2018 7:56 pm

A thread to discuss the loss of a friend, loved one, or stranger. Bereavement - Discussion 3552228123

I am keeping the family from Germany who I have no idea who there are but they lost their son in our local waterways while out jetskiing on vacation in our area. It's always sad to loose a loved one but while on vacation and a freak accident, my heart ached for them.

I lost my Dad suddenly years ago, not knowing that when he left to go out of town he would not return. I feel for this family.

Bereavement - Discussion Empty Re: Bereavement - Discussion

How nice of you to open this thread. So many people face loss of loved ones - the fortunate are with them and can say goodbye, not that their sadness is lessened by doing so. But for the family from Germany, how hard it must be. I hope angels have helped them.

We've had a summer full of bad news - my friend's son died unexpectedly at age 25 all the way across the country. A business associate's 19-year-old daughter died of unexplained cause two weeks after coming home from freshman year of college. And a friend lost her husband of over 50 years just as they sold their business and finally had time for some adventure. This makes me want to minimize my belongings and get everything in order in case something similar happens to me or my husband.

One thing I've learned is a memorial service or funeral really is important. Not having anything may seem reasonable but it helps to be able to hug and share a few words with the loved ones of the deceased.

It's been a bad year in my family too. I lost my brother suddenly 3 months ago, and my dad is in hospice. I agree about the memorial service or funeral. Doesn't stop the pain, but it's a step in the process.

Bereavement - Discussion Empty Re: Bereavement - Discussion

I have been hesitant to post in this thread only because grief is such a personal thing, I often am not able to express myself a) sensitively b) coherently and I don’t want my statements to come across as anything othe than heartfelt.
Grief and I met each other early in life, I guess.
I had a significant loss when I was 22, six weeks after I married. Until my own parents died both in 2012, they each said the last truly happy memory they had was at my wedding because that was the last day our entire nuclear family was together. Joyous, dancing and feasting all with love.
Since then 39 yrs later, there has been further other tragedies that I will choose to not go into here. I have danced many times with Grief. He is a skillful dancer. The trick is to change partners. I have found Hope and Faith to be more skillful, patient and loving
I just lost a friend today. She had given so unselfishly of herself in kindness to me years ago when moving from Missouri to Nj. I have never forgotten her humbleness and her kindness, when it was so much easier for her to be the more common Biotch.
Until 6 weeks ago she was a happy dippy hippy. Concerts, dining out, vacations, enjoying her grandsons and life
She had a risky surgery, complications with paralysis, followed by 2 strokes. She went home yesterday on hospice and is gone today. She was 65.
I will miss her as will so many others. kindness is free. The impact it can make on another is priceless. Pay it forward. There is far, too far little kindness in our world today. No matter who we are we can afford to be kind to each other. Think of the ripple effect. I will miss my friend, but I will always remember the lesson she taught me.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, bye Felicia!

My condolences @Kashathediva. It is always hard losing people we love and who mean so much to us.

@Kashathediva Very nicely expressed. I have no doubt you were as good a friend to your pal as she was to you. And undoubtedly, she treasured you like you did her. Sending you a cyberhub.

@Kashathediva I'm so sorry you lost your friend. It's true when they say you never know from one day to the next.

I had never lost a close friend until 6 yrs ago or so. It's so devastating and sad.

Bereavement - Discussion 3552228123 for you and her family.
