Couldn't the reverse be the same though? If he wasn't Aaron's brother people probably wouldn't care about his rift with his brother, he would just be any other bachelor contestant who opened up to the lead on the show. People on this forum and who visit RS would care but I don't think it would get mainstream media coverage like it has. Also the people in the media who are quick to vilify him about it on podcasts and stuff probably wouldn't if his brother wasn't famous.

CH in an interview said Jordan told TPTB about the estrangement and they were not aware of it beforehand. I am sure once they found out...they were planning how to make it part of the storyline. He also said Jordan carefully crafted how he would present the situation. IMO mentioning it in the first place was a mistake on Jordan's part. I don't think the reveal has been a good thing for any member of the Rodgers family. JMO

Renee, exactly. Look, I don't know anything about this family's relationships with each other. I don't know them personally and I can't speak to whether Jordan is or isn't as bad as he's been portrayed nor can I say with any certainty that Aaron is without fault in the family estrangement. All I'm saying is it's got to be frustrating for Jordan too that he can't open up a little- and I'm talking a very little- about something that has affected his life without being slammed by the media and accused of exploiting his brothers fame. Yes, the fact that JR is AR's brother makes him automatically more
interesting to the public. But the flip side of that is people are quick to assume they have all the facts. This stuff isn't black and white. We are watching a TV show that shows an edited, produced version of Jordan and narrative about Aaron. We should all take it with a grain of salt and understand that Tptb doesn't care who they have to hurt or make look bad to get ratings.
All JMHO as always

And so it goes with opening Pandora's Box and having it exploited by the Puppetmaster and his minions. This is ratings gold and all at the expense of Aaron imo who didn't ask for this . Talk about a distraction while preparing for another Season of football .

I actually feel very sorry for the whole Rodgers family. Ít comes across that Jordan is being forced into talking about his brother and the whole family has been dragged into the spotlight. It is a family affair and no-one really knows what has gone on and Aaron isn't with them to share his thoughts and feelings. After all it's not like Aaron is all that famous - yes, he's well known in his field but he's not above everyone else - he's still just a person doing what he loves and has/wants to do. I realise that it's all part of reality tv and entertainment but honestly is it all that important. Did Jojo really only go onto the Bachelorette and fall for Jordan because of his brother Aaron - I don't think so. At the end of the day Jojo will chose who is the best fit for her. I personally think that Robby's family is the best fit for her and he seems to genuinely love her; Chase adores her and I liked his family; I would love to be a part of Luke's family and community and be with him but I don't think Jojo feels that his lifestyle fits with hers; and finally Jordan - they are both so playful and loving together and, although I still have my reservations about Jordan, I think they are actually very compatible. My only negative with Jordan is that he appears cocky and full of himself but I don't know him so I don't want to unfairly judge. He speaks so well and comes across as extremely confident which is a positive thing.

I disagree. Famous or not, it doesn't make a difference. For example, one of the ones Alanna gave, that father was labeled as crazy because of his mental illness. Court documents were released with great detail in regards to the very, very scary and hostile events and it was printed in magazines and a whole bunch of articles online. They're still all there, by the way. That poor father, who seemingly got help, was pushed into the spotlight because of some very nasty events from the past. I'm sure that mortified him. It would for me.
That information was a whole lot worse than Jordan confirming he doesn't have much of a relationship with Aaron, which was already out there because of various reasons, one being a part of Aaron's camp. JMO
What Catherine's father went through (I'm assuming you are referring to Cat's dad) is horrible, not right. But 2 wrongs don't make a right. I can easily say both situations suck.
What I think @relaxing was getting at, and what I agree with, is that this Aaron Rodgers situation is different simply because he is so high profile and in the spotlight. I honestly don't remember much about Catherine's or Ashley's dad drama. It was mentioned, but it certainly wasn't a B storyline the way Aaron Rodgers has been made a storyline. It absolutely was not tabloid fodder the way this is for Aaron. It absolutely is not the same.
And regardless, just because this happened before with other families doesn't make it ok to happen again this time. I blame the show, but I also blame Jordan. He could have squashed any and all talk about Aaron. He could have had the decency to give Aaron a heads up. Something, anything. The entire situation is sad.
It's all whatever to me. It just would have been nice for Jordan to give a little heads up. That's all. And 150% Aaron being his brother is ABSOLUTELY why he was pursued by the show as a last minute addition.
I get relaxing's point and I still disagree with it. I still think having stories of an attempted suicide, verbal abuse to your family, and being forced into a mental institution, etc. in magazines and online articles is far worse than Jordan saying he doesn't have much of a relationship with Aaron, which again, was already speculated partly due to social media and Aaron's girlfriend openly talking about it in an interview. All Jordan and his brother Luke did during the HTD episode was say that they missed their brother. Luke went as far to say that he's hoping things go back to how they were.
Not that I mentioned anything about that in my post, but I'm assuming your last sentence is your opinion since there's no proof of that.
just wanted to say I never said I think what Jordan did is worse than anyone else airing family stuff on tv that should be personal. I agree it should always be personal. I'd not comment on it on tv no matter what TPTB did but many cast members have, so I don't get why any of them would.
I only said in Jordan's case it's different because Jordan knows anything he says about Aaron will be on the nightly news basically and picked up in all over the media. To me it is different, not worse, but def different and a unique situation. And Jordan full well knows this too, IMO.

I was just stating my personal viewpoint. I just didn't agree that they were two different situations because Aaron is famous. Famous or not, I still thought the situation that the father was put into was far worse than Aaron's for various reasons. That father's story was in magazines and articles and his story was far more personal given the topic and it was something he wasn't used to. Aaron is famous and has had worse things said about him in the media. I don't think anyone should be airing dirty laundry on a reality television show, but I get it. It's what producers want. IMO

I guess I don't understand why BBJ needs to stop living his life because he has a famous brother he doesn't talk to? He can make decisions to go on a reality show, get engaged, anything, without consulting his brother who he never talks to imo.
Additionally, I still say he didn't say anything to throw anyone under the bus. They have no relationship, which sounds well documented, and he confirmed that, I'm sure with producer prodding. The end. The rest of the time he's focused on Jo and their relationship. All imo.

I think it is interesting that the main place the Aaron - Jordan - Rodgers family relationship is discussed is here on this forum. There have been a few media outlets that have covered it, but nothing like on here. But this is the place for that discussion, it is not that front and center for the general public. Also I agree that this is hard for their family but the issues with some of the other families was much more serious and the Rogers Family and Aaron are used to handling the media. Aaron chose public life, and now Jordan has. They are all handling it well. In my opinion.

I don't have a problem with discussing Jordan and Aaron and their relationship but I do when we're judging their family based on comments on a site. I don't think they signed up for that even though it happens to all of the families, unfortunately. To me comments are like those rag mags at the checkout. If you read the headline it sticks with you even though at the time you know it's not a good source. Anyone with a grudge can write anything and there are no checks and balances. The same thing can happen here. That's why we're such sticklers for stating something is your opinion. This is mine.

Thanks, Bean.
I think most of us personalize the situation and applying it to ourselves.
I've lived across the country from my family for 25+ yrs. I would consider having a good relationship with all of them. I MYOB and keep my mouth shut.
My sister told me something years ago that my aunt had said about us. I can't remember if it hurt more or if it made me laugh more because it was so ludicrous. She had no more clue about what she was talking about than if she pulled the info out of her _______.
I guess since I can still remember the outrageous situation, it must have hurt more.
Just some thoughts.

Yeah, this is pretty much where I'm coming down on all of this (Hi, Alanna! ). The reality is that Jordan has a famous brother (although people who don't follow football, and there are many, probably have never heard of Aaron Rodgers) who he is estranged from, and it is not his obligation to take into account how any actions on his part will impact Aaron's public reputation. The producers may have approached him because of his famous brother, but had he approached them, or had he been spotted in a bar by a casting agent and approached, as many of the guys are, based on his "credentials", he certainly would have been cast IMO, even without said famous brother. And yeah, anyone who has a family "backstory" of interest is going to be expected/manipulated to reveal it on camera, especially if they make it as far as HTDs. Compared to the tasteless exploitative way other family "secrets" have been treated on this show, I think the producers actually were quite respectful of both sides, and didn't paint either Aaron or his family in a bad light or as villains/at fault. I suppose a staunch supporter of one side or the other can and will always find offense even when none is intended though.
Regarding the discussion of missing a grandparent's funeral, did anyone else have a flashback to when Meredith missed her nana's funeral in order to go on her date with Bob Guiney? And her mother encouraged her to miss it, folks. 'Nuff said.
