IF and only IF they are a true bromance the answer to your question is yes, of course they do! They also have to make each other friendship bracelets, brush each others hair before bed time during slumber parties, and last but certainly not least they have to date the same girl for a series of weeks but neither can marry said girl.. if they don't follow these rules I refuse to call them a bromance.

These F2, Chris L & Roberto, became good friends during Ali's season. Chris L & Roberto even talked to each other often while the show was airing.Maybe this is why they are still good friends to this very day. Chris L & Roberto said that they will always be friends. I don't know if JP & Ben were friends during Ashley's season. Anyway, there is no reason for Ben to still hold bad feelings towards Ashley & JP. I believe Ben is a good guy and that he will come around eventually.

Maybe Ben is truly legally unable to speak about the situation unless its to an ABC approved media source? It wouldn't surprise me that they don't want "exclusive" statements to come out if they're not profiting from it. Don't know what this interview is from, but that seems very likely to me. If he weren't contractually obligated to say nothing, the smart thing would have been to say he wishes them well whether he meant it or not.

Normally in that situation, even if they are still angry, they grin, bear it and do what Ames and Ryan are doing ... speaking highly of the lead or the winner. Honestly, it doesn't really matter if they are all friends. I don't think they really were by the end. Lucas didn't seem fond of JP. Ben seemed to be enjoying JP's angst after his '36 hour' date. He thought Lucas was going to get the date rose. I don't think there was any love lost in the end and that may all be JP's fault because JP didn't want any of the other guys near Ashley. If I was a guy and another guy, who was acting like a guard dog over an eligible woman, I wouldn't be his friend if he got the girl in the end either! LOL! Cmon! Let's not deify JP. He fell for Ashley early and hard and made sure everyone knew it. His way worked in this situation but he was sitting there listening to their dispassionate views of Ashley and Ben's stoic view of everything ... He said in episode 4 that he was right for Ashley so Ryan couldn't be because they were nothing alike. Skip this Hong Kong stuff. JP was over the edge after the first date. LOL! Had we known they were doing all of that making out and falling asleep together, we might not have ever given any other guy a chance either.

Rich, I'm a little late to chime in but re: your comment about Ben having a right to be upset if Ashley truly strung him along.... I do agree but (and I know we saw an edited version) does a guy really think the girl he wants to propose to will only give closed mouth kisses? I know she might have been giving good kisses we just didn't see but, the majority of what we saw were tight lipped kisses, even if they were prolonged. Not to give out TMI, but I know my DH would think I was putting up roadblocks. As a guy-- what are your thoughts? (I'm really int erested ... on a serious note) do you really think he was blindsided? TIA--

As far as the kisses go, of course all closed mouthed kisses would be a sign... if that's truly what happened, which I seriously doubt. She clearly was egging him on on the deck of the boat, with the whole rub lotion on me bit, and we can't possibly know what happened between them that TPTB for whatever reason opted not to show us.

I'm not blaming Ashley, sometimes a man, and I would assume a woman as well, chooses to believe what they think is going on despite evidence to the contrary. And when that happens, and the object of your affection gives you reassurance, it can skew one's outlook quite a bit.

And finally, yes, I do think he was blindsided... again, we can't know... but from all appearances, he seemed pretty confident that his proposal was going to be accepted...

All that being said, that's the game they all knew they were playing from the beginning, and all but one (at least) was in for a possible heartbreak...

I don't claim to represent the male perspective, just THIS male's perspective, and I may be a bit unsophisticated in matters of the heart, but as I said, I would find it very difficult to be all "Cheerio, well played lads, jolly good show"...

Ashley said she followed the lead of the guy as far as kissing (I think it was on George Lopez). So, basically, she did what they did. Later in the game, I'm sure she was okay with Ben not being so passionate with the kisses because she was so into JP but I think that Ben's kisses were just indicative of his other issues with opening up. Had SHE really been interested, I'm sure she could have led him into some things but she'd already been lying on the couch making out w/JP before she even had her first kiss with Ben ... Why MAKE him kiss her the way she liked when she was getting it somewhere else? She kissed Ben before she got REAL w/JP in Phuket and may have kissed some other guys too. Maybe the other guys being so lacking was the reason why she was so into JP that night. You shouldn't have to MAKE a guy kiss you the right way.

Considering how obvious it was early on that JP and Ashley were on another level from all the other guys, I think the producers would have jumped for joy if they could have created more suspense/doubt by showing a better physical connection with Ben if one actually existed. I think they worked with what they had, but there just wasn't much there as far as that went. Even the rubbing of the suntan lotion and the making out during the LCD lacked heat and seemed mechanical and forced. And she wouldn't even let Ben rub mud on her chest on the LCD. I find it hard to believe Ben couldn't sense that, but maybe he thought Ashley was trying to keep it PG for the cameras.

I read that Ashley S claimed that Ashley wanted to let Ben F go earlier, but couldn't. So, we aren't ever going to know the whole story.

We shall see how Ben F handles being the puppet.
