In Touch, Life & Style and OK all have something negative on the covers

Those are all last week's covers and Life & Style's article was 95% positive despite the negative implication on the cover, OK's was 50-50. In Touch has been running an 0-fer streak of obviously false stories about Ashley and JP. It was punishment for the B'ette's publicity deal with Life & Style but I think that deal expired last week since People had the exclusive cover story.

One thing in the Life & Style story is how in the middle of a section about how Ashley and JP are planning to move in together it reported JP was overheard at Casa La Femme on July 14th saying he was in the market for a whole townhouse, not just a floor of a townhouse. Interesting that it turns out that's where their party was. I always thought that particular nugget was true because they were specific about the place and date he allegedly said that.

There'll be new tabloids out on newsstands tomorrow. I'll try and see if there's anything interesting/stupid/cute in there and report back tomorrow morning.

They’re everyone’s favorite couple: JP Rosenbaum and Ashley Hebert from ABC’s  hit show, “The Bachelorette.” For weeks, the nation watched as JP outlasted 24 other guys to win Ashley’s heart. (I can tell you, the girls at News 12 were pulling for him also!)

I don’t normally cover entertainment news, but seeing that JP is from Roslyn here on Long Island, AND he’s college friends with my older brother, I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask him for an interview. To my very pleasant surprise, he emailed me back within a couple minutes and said absolutely. This is despite his previous 24-hours spent making non-stop media rounds: everything from “Regis & Kelly” to “Jimmy Kimmel.”

I mentioned the upcoming interview on Facebook and Twitter and asked viewers to send me questions. Dozens poured in. “What was JP’s first impression of Ashley?” “What was his favorite date?” “What is his favorite moment the cameras didn’t catch?”

All great questions – and I did my best to ask as many as possible without overstaying my welcome!

The first thing I (as a skeptical reporter) wanted to know: Is this real? Are you really in love?  JP says yes!  Everything we saw on the show is real. They are really engaged. She’s moving to NY shortly to be with him but they’ll likely wait until next year to officially tie the knot.

JP and I chatted for about 20 minutes, and then we Skyped Ashley who’s in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, because there’s so much other news out there, my story could only run about two minutes in length. BUT, for all the “Bachelorette” fans out there, you can catch the entire interview on Channel 612.

I did ask him if there’s anything about Ashley we don’t know. He says she has the strangest Starbucks order: “Iced double tall non fat no whipped peppermint iced mocha.” I guess if he can remember all that, it must be love!

Relatively low key and good week at the tabloids

US has a 2 page story mainly focused on the possibility of Ben F being the next Bach. There's a 2 column story on the 2nd page of that talking about Ashley and JP's NY weekend. Nothing mentioned on the cover.
LIFE & STYLE has a column saying Ashley and JP have already picked out their Neil Lane wedding bands and the picture in the back of Ashley walking in the water in her 17k Randi Rahm dress. Nothing mentioned on the cover.
STAR has a 2 page spread with an interview with Ashley's biological father. Nothing mentioned on the cover.
IN TOUCH has a half page negative article on Bremily, Aliberto, and Jordash's chances of ever getting married. Nothing mentioned on the cover.

US's story on Ashley and JP has a picture of them outside either GMA or Regis & Kelly that we've already seen and also a pic of JP and Ashley together at the Casa La Femme party Saturday where Ashley met 40 of JP's closest friends. A lot of the details were already covered in their online article. The article mentions Chrystie was at the party and was overheard saying she now "loves" JP. The article quotes an anonymous friend of JP's saying they were afraid they wouldn't like Ashley but she's "adorable". The article says on Sunday JP & Ashley had got some R&R in Roslyn at his parents' home. A positive article.

Life & Style's story is mostly about showing the Neil Lane wedding bands that they say Ashley and JP picked out in early August. The article says Ashley would put it on already if she could. There's a quote from CH about how Ashley and JP are genuinely happy with each other and genuinely in love.

Star's article has a big one page picture with a paparazzi picture of JP and Ashley looking happy outside one of their NY media stops. The interview with Ashley's biological father is pretty positive, he talks about his problems and getting his life back in order. There's a part where he clarifies the allegation Ashley was ever homeless and says he doesn't know if that was something the show forced her to say. I don't remember seeing that so maybe that was during Brad's season. He mentions Ashley sent him a picture of herself while she was shooting B'ette. He says he knew JP was a good guy when he saw JP comforting Ashley after the Bent debacle and that it was hard watching her go through the emotions of the show. He said he'd be honored to go to the wedding. The picture text again has him endorsing the couple but joking that JP kisses Ashley too much. I'm always leery of relatives who talk to Star but at least this article isn't salacious.

In Touch says B/ette couples are better at making excuses than getting married. They mention Emily refusing to move, Aliberto postponing their wedding because of Ali's injury and Ashley not converting to Judaism. It's a nothing article.

This is such a ludicrous angle to push, but it effectively sets up a false parallel. Emily not moving (and she certainly had valid reasons why, based on other problems the relationship had) definitely was a major stumbling block in why Bremily was doomed. Conversely, Ali's surgery was not an "excuse" to postpone, and implying that she elected to undergo it to get out of getting married is ridiculous, and Ashley not converting to Judaism has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with delaying the wedding, but I guess they couldn't come up with anything else that fit. In Touch is beyond lame; either some still bitter Chris and Ben fans must be in charge there (jk! :hidingchair ) or they think they're catering to the element who follow this show simply to vindictively root against every couple.

I thought it was decided that Judaism wasn't an issue? Doesn't seem like JP is particularly religious even if he is culturally Jewish. I'm culturally Catholic but no one in my family would have issue with someone who isn't. People are making this stuff up. Do they really think that women are running the show. We know Brad wasn't a valid Bachelor. He just thought he could go on the show, get the money, pick someone and be vindicated. Emily had no reason to move to Austin w/a child in tow. I'm sure Ali didn't just tell Roberto "I'm not marrying you because I cannot walk." They've got too much going on (w/real jobs) to take time to plan a big wedding - which is what they want.

I think JP and Ashley will take their time. They've got a long way to go and I hope they make it.

What the heck is wrong w/ InTouch? Are they mad that the show doesn't use them access?

I just want Asley & JP to stay strong and don't blink an eye over the tabloid rumors. The tabloids have never let up off of Ali & Roberto. When Ali's season was over last year, I do remember one tabloid saying that Roberto was a liar & a player. The tabloids will say anything to generate sales. We now have 2 hot cute & couples from the bachelorette. I am behind them all the way. Ali is trying to wait & see if she will need to undergo a 2nd surgery on her knee. She will know something definite in about another month.
